  1. Im going to be selling my Powell Inferno 7'MH X-Fast to buy a new BPS Carbonlite rod to use primarily for 3/8-1/2 oz jigs. Which would be the better choice for me? 7' Heavy X-Fast or 7'6 Medium Heavy fast. Also do you guys think the carbonlite is the right choice for a $100 rod? They are using $139 for these sizes but are on sale for $95
  2. Would using this $15 shipping code from St.Croix warranty program work for shipping rods on my own?
  3. How much does it truly cost to ship rods? I have no idea about the topic but I'm looking to get rid of some rods to fund other things but I feel like the cost of shipping ruins the profit margin for me and turns people away from buying rods that don't have free shipping. What are the best and cheapest methods for shipping rods? Thanks!
  4. First quality fish on the new spinnerbait set up 7' MH Mojo Bass Spinnerbait Special Daiwa Tatula CT 6.3:1
  5. St Croix Legend Tournament Bass 7'1 MH-Fast Daiwa Tatula SV 7.3:1
  6. Seems like a question only you can answer, but since you were already on board with a 7.1:1 a 7.5:1 that'd be my choice. It all depends on what applications you want to use it for as well.
  7. Does anyone here fish any Smithville lake tournaments? There are the Burtons tackle thursday night and weekend tournaments along with the Smithville bassmasters tournaments. I'm wanting to get into the scene but I'm unfortunately a non boater. I hardly ever get to fish from a boat and really want the experience. Also, if anyone in the area would like to fish just let me know. I'm 19 and wil be back from Mizzou for spring break after next week and I'm hoping to get on the water. Thanks.
  8. Using baitcasters and acquiring all that knowledge at 8 means he'll be slamming them in his teenage years
  9. @Quarry Man I understand and like I said, I apologize. I'm the same way when buying something new, I always want multiple opinions on it lol. And you're right, there definitely is a lot of money loss in reselling tackle/equipment. You'll be best off with 6 solid casting set ups and a nice spinning outfit. Tight lines and best of luck with all of your new purchases.
  10. Tatula CT's can easily be had for $100. And don't compare bearings between reels, just because one reel has more bearings doesn't mean a whole lot. Shimano uses a 5+1 bearing system for most all of their reels, Curado included. I'd say the Daiwa is going to be more durable and long lasting. A weight difference of 1oz shouldn't mean much to you, they are both light. Read reviews on TW, Bass Pro, and Cabelas and it will help you feel more confident making the choice.
  11. @NYBasser You're probably right, his tendencies have just gotten under my skin. He doesn't seem like he wants to learn about fishing, it seems to me like he's only concerned with having the "coolest and nicest things". He posted a Flea Market post saying he was selling nearly his whole arsenal then an hour later he changed it all to only one rod. I understand wanting to upgrade but jeez, the equipment doesn't catch the fish for you. Based off his equipment I believe he already has a decent knowledge base. I was one of the first people to encourage him to do whatever he wanted and to not listen to others talking down on him but it's over the top at this point.
  12. Ditch the Lew's, I sold off my Tournament MB and got the Tatula. The Daiwa feels smother and more effortless in my opinion. However, I believe you are talking about the $100 LFS and that's the only Lew's reel I've held on to. It can cast weightless senkos a mile, but so can the Tatula.
  13. Edit: Comment deleted. Not judging you for wanting advice, I just think you're too concerned with buying new tackle compared to actually learning about the sport. I apologize.
  14. Edit: Comment deleted, this guy is annoying.
  15. @Jar11591 @Darren. Dang, I forgot to mention that I'm using this knot to connect braid to mono backing, not as a leader. After reeling the line over it, you don't necessarily feel the bump you can just see on the spool that there is more spool covering the side than compared to the other side. I can post a pic if you guys wanted. It has no effect on performance I was just curious if it was normal because I'm new to braid Edit: I just looked and it only happened to my Curado, weird.
  16. Question to all, when tying these knots do they make it to where when you spool on the braid after tying the knot it makes it to where there is a slight bump in the line over the part where the knot is on the spool? For me, there is always one side of the spool that is slightly more full than the other in relativity to how much of the side of the spool is showing)
  17. never thought about having two spools, smart!
  18. The BPS Tourney special was my first baitcasting rod and it did everything i needed it to in a 7' MH-Fast Action. Weightless, weighted t-rigs, flipping, frogging, you name it. It did lack some sensitivity but it did me well. No experience with the Lighting rod but from what I've read on here both will do you good. Choose what feels best in your hands since there is no price difference
  19. Try to return it, these stores will usually take them back still as long as it doesn't look used or damaged.
  20. It's going to come down to preference based on the braking systems, T-Wing vs no T-Wing, how they feel in your hand, and looks. Both are great reels and you'll be happy with either. Good luck
  21. Anyone know of any Bass clubs in the KC area? I live in the Zona rosa area and i'm trying to get into the tournament scene more
