  1. Dobyns Fury 6'6 Medium Shimano Sahara You'll be sitting right under 200 with a quality set up
  2. I first went to Bass Pro with the intentions of getting the CT but they were out of stock, I was set on the CT but impulsively decided to not wait for more CT's and get the curado because of the $150 price tag. I just wanted to get some other perspectives and input, I like to be really sure about a purchase before I make one and that is why an impulse buy has left me wondering.
  3. how much do you guys spool on as a leader?
  4. I think I may go for it, I really love the CT so far and when I further upgrade the Tatula CT SV TW will be waiting for me Edit: where are you from in KS?
  5. did you by chance get a 8:1 ratio? That's what I'm really interested in because the reel will go on my flipping/frogging rod. But I also think about how a 7x:1 ratio would be more versatile
  6. You're probably right, they're truly great reels and either will probably do me good. I just read into things too much sometimes. Thanks for the advice
  7. What were the reasons that lead you to the choice of CT over Curado? Thanks for the input
  8. I'm worried that I'm going to run into problems with my Curado sooner than it should. After purchasing the Curado and Tat CT at the same time, I began to look more into them before being content with the purchase. It seems from what I've read that a lot of people have problems with their Curados, versus nearly no complaints of problems with the Diawa. I truly like the looks of the shimano over the diawa but later down the road that's not what will matter. I could still return the curado for a tat CT and get $20 back. Thoughts?
  9. @WIGuide Thanks for the input, and yes, I've been considering the Mojo Bass line. I have the 7' MH Mod-Fast and so far I love it. It's going to take a lot of hands on experience with the rods in stores before I can pull the trigger.
  10. I am looking to completely revamp my rod arsenal and I was thinking about buying only 1 rod series to cover all my bases. I have been looking at the GLoomis e6x line, and Dobyns Savy line. I'm not looking to spend more than $180 per rod. What are your guys suggestions? Is buying one rod series a dumb idea? Also, what are your guys thoughts on split vs full cork
  11. Curado all day, I feel like the PQ isn't comparable at all. And considering you already have a fleet of higher end reels, you may be disappointed with it, however they are decent reels still.
  12. Get the Curado, I just got done selling off all my lew's reels for shimano/diawa. You won't regret it, I have a Curado with 50lb braid and it pitches like a dream
  13. I just got both and the Diawa spool is much smaller than the curado so I got the Curado for flipping with braid and the CT for moving baits that I use FC on
  14. Left to Right for my newest 3 additions. - 7'4 Hvy-Fast St Croix Bass X Shimano Curado I - 7' Med-Hvy Mod-Fast St Croix Mojo Bass Diawa Tatula CT -7' Med-Hvy Fast Powell Inferno Abu Garcia Revo SX
  15. I just got my tatula CT as well, do you have any trouble putting the side plate back on after removing it?
  16. I just got my Tatula CT and I was reading through the instructions to get an understanding of how to adjust the breaks and what not (the instructions are awful) I got the side plate off but i'm having trouble getting it back on. When i put it back on and try to get it to twist back on, it seems like it is stuck where it engages with the spool. Is there any tips or tricks you guys have to get it back on. I may not have twisted hard enough but I don't want to damage the reel
  17. Haven't handled any of them but i was also considering a 765 vs the 7'3 mag heavy dobyns fury, just didn't know if the 765 was capable of frogging too
  18. I have this EXACT problem, however I received my rod this way. It seems bent from the 4th to last eye to the end of the rod. It doesn't effect performance but it sure does bug me Edit: forgot to mention it is a St Croix Bass X 7'4 Heavy. I thought it may be due to the length and heavy action rod
  19. Today I got my first Curado on sale for $150 at BPS. I know the Curado is popular around these parts. Does anyone have any tips/tricks about this reel to make it work to the best of its abilities? It is the Curado 200HG 7.2:1 and I'm pairing it with a 7'4 Heavy Bass X for frogging and flipping Thanks for any help in advance.
  20. Spinning: 6'9-7' Length Medium/X-Fast Baitcasters: 7ft Medium Heavy/Fast Heavy T-Rigs/Spinnerbaits/Lipless 6.4:1 Ratio 7ft Medium/Fast Soft Plastics/Smaller Topwater 7.1:1 Ratio 3rd rod I'd go with a cranking or flipping rod/reel For flipping I'd go with a high speed reel, cranking I'd go for a lower speed reel. In my opinion I'd say to get a little bit less expensive rods/reels and get more than those 4 set ups. When you really start to get into fishing, you'll see the importance of having rods/reels for each kind of technique. Keep each combo in the 250-300 range and you'll have a very nice fleet of rods and reels.
