I was in BPS last year during their spring fishing event. The owner and gamakatsu reps were talking to each other. I asked them both, "please tell me why your hook is better than the rest of the market". At almost the same time they both said, "If you go with a quality hook (Mustad, owner gammy,), you will have no issue. It comes down to personal preference". I now base my decision on what hooks to buy by which of those 3 brands is on sale.

I have a 6'9" spinning that I use for drop shotting and shakey head. It feels wonderful and has top notch components. Having said that, I bought a 2008 model used at the end of 2008 for $75.00. Is it worth $75....HECK Yeah! Is it worth $330.00....heck no.

I fish the shaky head a ton, and I use 10lb braid exclusively even in clear water. I am not sure I totally buy into the "line shy" issue. If I am fishing a super clear lake, i will use a fluro leader. IMO, braid has many advantages: 1. Cost- spoll up once and forget about it. 2. sensitivity 3. no stretch- you must learn to use a slightly different hook set 4. durability 5. managability- especially in cold weather.

I own 2 of the brand new president baitcasters. They are small, light and well built.

Looking to purchse a new rod 6'6" medium with a fast tip for finesse, shakey heqad worms, etc. Want to spend around 50 or so. Any good suggestions?
