Ended the day catching 3 more. All 1lbers. Not bad for about 4.5 hours total spent over three visits. On my way back home a lady told me her husband caught a 6lber in that small pond and released it. I'm confident if it's still out there, not only will it be bigger now, but I'll catch it. Besides there has to be a momma and daddy bass out there somewhere. Those baby bass and 1lbers didn't just appear there one day...lol! ?

Walked to the smaller pond in my neighborhood at 6:30 this morning. It's only 10 mins. from the house. The baby bass were biting...lol! Caught these 2 dinks and threw em back to get bigger. Had to be back at the house at 8:30am to watch my granddaughter. Gonna try to get back out either to that same pond or the bigger one that's a little further walking to later as long as the weather permits. Already had a little rain this morning and it wouldn't surprise me if it rained some more.

Fishing- Passion vs. addiction
Guess I'm passionately addicted. The addiction part is mainly because I'm fairly new to it. With all the rain we've been getting here in Central Louisiana this summer, I find myself getting bummed out because of it. It'll subside eventually. The passion will always be there. Every time I reel a bass in, the passion grows.

Would you rather...
Since the question is hypothetically speaking anyways, I would rather catch bass for the next 3 months. My PB is only between 2-3lbs so there's a good chance of still topping that or at at least tying it. I agree with @scaleface, if I didn't catch anything for 3 months I would quit fishing or at least seriously consider it.

Solar Eclipse party
There's quite a few states that ooze lunacy these days, but this is a bass fishing site and I won't go there...lol. ?

10% of anglers catch 90% of fish- still true?
I totally agree. I could care less about a percentage. My catch rate has actually gone up though. Makes me happy. That's what I care about and having fun being at the lake or pond. Catching bass makes it even better!

I found a smaller pond in my neighborhood this evening. It's a little closer to my house. It has bass in it. Caught 2 in the hour or so I was there. They weren't that big. The biggest one was about a pound. The other one wasn't even a pound. It was 2 bass though. I needed to go a little earlier than I did though, just to be able to see a little better getting around it. Hoping there's some bigger ones out there. Lots of matted vegetation around the bank. Now I've got 2 spots I can go to more often because they're close enough to walk to and don't have to worry about getting a ride and inconveniencing others. So looking forward to fishing them more. By the way, that Ol' Monster worm is still catching em! ? Congratulations on your first smallie! It's a nice one too. Beautiful sunset!

Why would they even have a party for it? I mean the event will only last a couple minutes or so and people always show up late for parties...lol!

Yay! Finally a 2 bass day, well it was this evening. Almost dark actually. They just love that Ol' Monster worm I keep throwing out there. Went back to the pond that's about a 30-45 minute walk from the house. It was lightly drizzling some of the time I was there. When I first got there I threw that big ole worm out there and about my 4th cast was dragging it across some matted grass and a bass blew up on it and snatched off the tail. So I thought maybe it was time to throw my frog. Tied it on and threw it a few times...nothing. Put the Ol' Monster back on and tried there again, still nothing. I began walking up and down the bank, stopping here and there making some fan casts. Still nothing but a few little bites. It was almost dark and I decided to hit the spot I first tried. I noticed a boat in the pond, in a spot that I couldn't get around to, that was almost completely sunk. I cast towards it and bam a 1lber smashed that Ol' Monster. Got it reeled in, took a pic then unhooked and released it. Very next cast, right back to the same spot, and bam again. A much bigger bass slammed it. That one had to be at least 2lbs, I'm guessing a little more. Took pics and let it go. They both swam off quickly and ok. I really need a new scale. The one I have doesn't work. Below are the pics. 1 of the one pounder and 3 of the 2lber+(maybe). Hard to take selfies in the dark...lol. There's some big uns out there in this pond. I could hear the big splashes they were making. I'm guessing at least 5lbers. Definitely gonna try to get me one of those another day/night. It was getting too dark to see and I was getting hungry. So I went on home a happy beginner angler. I'm gonna keep throwing that Ol' Monster until it stops getting bit. Then I guess I'll have to figure out another lure/bait...lol!

Yep! I'd have had it all spent and probably coming out of pocket to pay for some...lol! As soon as I have the extra cash and the patience to wait for something I've already paid for, I'm gonna order me some of Siebert Outdoors' jigs. Wanna get me some of those custom jigs.

The best/most exciting moment in fishing?
When I first started bass fishing back end of March beginning of April the excitement was just knowing I just hooked a fish period and then finding out when I get it reeled in that it's actually a bass. Now, specially the last few days, it's when I'm ever so slowly reeling in that Ol' Monster and almost back to the bank, about a foot or two out, a bass has just hammered it. Either just before that big worm gets surfaced or as it's starting to come up out of the water. That's an awesome feeling. Plus I'm gaining some most needed confidence. I said I was gonna catch a bass yesterday evening and I surely did! ?

Can I modify this lure to make it weedless?
You could try removing the hook on the tail end of it. It won't make it completely weedless but it won't get hung up near as much. It will also make the fish have to get more of it in its mouth for you to set the hook, unless it snags itself on it somehow. I removed the tail hook on all my Rat-L-Traps. Don't use them much, haven't really found the right spots to use them fishing from the bank. I heard about it from FLW Pro Angler Mark Daniels Jr.

I know this ain't considered slaying them, but for me it's very exciting. Can't seem to find where they all are. Just one at a time...lol. I've now caught 3 bass in 4 days. Add another one to the list of junebug red Ol' Monster catches. Caught this earlier this evening back at Lake Buhlow. Guess this lake is becoming slightly promising after all. I feel like I'm learning something from all you good folks on here. Thanks a million everyone, y'all ROCK!
