  1. What is a bottom contact bait you would recommend trying?
  2. Thank you very much. Was thinking of throwing on some 15-20lbs Seagar fluro
  3. Problem is for me, living in Canada. All the reels and rods are priced high example: Curado k 249.99, tatula sv 259.99, loomis e6x walleye 2 piece spinning rod 289.99, st. Croix avid x 259.99. So for me to jump into the chronarch’s I’m looking at 400, and metanium’s at 600-650.00 roughly. I don’t mind spending money on quality stuff but like mentioned a few times it’s hard to do it all the time. I have a Curado K and a tatula SV, but looking to try out the Chronarch and zillion this year.
  4. Thank you everyone, I’m really excited about this rod! If feels great in the hands, I believe I’ll probsbly throw the zillion on it for skipping jigs, and maybe pick up the Chronarch for the dobyns
  5. I bought it due to the wicked deal I got on it. I also have a dobyns Sierra 734c and figured they were close to the same purpose rod. I was thinking of maybe trying small swim bates, skipping light jigs, Chatterbait, weightless senko’s and maybe light t-rigs. Thought maybe the dobyns for spinner baits, football head jigs, throwing jigs around light cover, heavier Chatterbait.
  6. Hello all, im having the hardest time deciding what I want to use this rod for. It’s a Kistler helium LTA MH fast action 7’ rod rated for 1/8-3/4oz lures. I’m going to pair it up with either a diawa zillion sv tws or a Shimano Chronarch MGL.
  7. Can’t comment on the megabass but my dad and myself both have an avid X rods that we love! Mine is a spinning rod paired with a Stradic ci4 2500 that I’ve been using for about a season and I love it. Thinking of getting another in a casting rod. My old mans is a 7’ medium heavy fast action casting rod paired with tatula sv and it is awesome. Great sensitivity, awesome balance and power. Love these rods
  8. Got my first Kistler rod. I got a helium lta med/heavy fast action rated for 1/8oz-3/4oz. Thinking of using it for smaller finesse jigs, swim jigs for skipping them up under docks. Maybe t rigged or weightless senko’s. Can’t think of anything else I could use this for. Looking to pair it up with one of these reels. Any thoughts?
  9. The the second rod isn’t really rated for that though at 7’ medium-heavy fast 1/8oz-3/4oz
  10. Stumbled across a good deal and have 2 rods but not sure what line to throw on them and what to use them for exactly. Have a dobyns 734 and a 7’ helium lta Medium Heavy Fast Action. Was planning on using the 734 for my jig rog, but then purchased the helium and I don’t know what I want to use either rod for. I have 15 and 20 pound invisx, 30 lbs and 50lbs power pro green to use on either. The 734 is teamed with a Daiwa tatula sv tws 6.3 on it and the helium I’m still debating on a reel.
  11. What would you prefer for certain presentations? I probably won’t be throwing top water. I know I’ll be investing in more rods fast.
  12. Picked up the Kistler today! Looks to be in perfect shape, almost unused (which is what he had mentioned). Increadibly light, good back bone. Very excited to try this rod out. Like mentioned for 75 dollars probably not to many new rods I’d be able to get to even come close to this. Thanks everyone.
  13. Thanks everyone who has responded! I was told not to go with a lighter braid cause it digs into itself and was always told to go 30-40 lbs for most stuff when using braid. didnt realize how popular mono was as I was told secondly would basically be fluro! I’ve used a baitcaster half of last season but never owned one before. My spinning rods all have fluro or braid on them with fluro leaders.
  14. I just picked up a pair of rods. My first two baitcasters and would like some recommendations. First is a 7’6” heavy for flipping and pitching. So was thinking 50lbs power pro. Secondly is a dobyns sa 734 with a diawa tatula sv. Will use weightless and weights senko’s, swim jigs, and skipping jigs, spinner baits, possibly some top water, swim baits and such. No idea on whAt kind of line to use. New to baitcasting so wasn’t sure
  15. Thank you, that’s a good point. Yes it’s 75 dollars Canadian.
  16. Unfortunately living in Canada, prices on rods are much much higher. A Kistler Helium 3 is 419.99 on sale for 339.99 here. That’s the reason I was asking cause it seemed like a pretty good deal. What would you guys considering paying for it then? The klx start around 329, up too 399 ish on sale for 299-339
  17. So for 75 dollars it’s not worth it then?
  18. He said the rod was 4-6 years old
  19. I have a a buddy so to speak who is selling a Kistler Helium LTA 7’ medium heavy rod he70mhc. It’s it’s excellent condition, and a great price, at 75 dollars but don’t know anything about these rods. Can anyone share some insight on these rods and want you would use it for?
  20. Thank you, didn’t realize I left it out. It’s the avid x rod. I have one in a spinning rod and love it. Awesome I was a little nervous on ordering a reel right away but the sale was over as of today so had to make a move
  21. Turns out I was able to get a great deal on a rod and reel so I’ve picked him up a st. Croix 7’ Medium Heavy avid x Fast Action rod, partnered up with a Diawa tatula sv tw 6.3:1. I was really unsure if that was the better gear ratio but from what I’ve read probably the best all round gear ratio. Hope he likes his new birthday present
  22. The other rod that is a great deal right now is the crucial but I never hear much about it
  23. So I think I have narrowed it down to the 7’ medium-heavy avid x or a 7’ medium heavy shimano zodias as both Rods I can get on sale right now at a steal of a deal!! His current baitcaster can be used for the heavies and big lures, he has 2 spinning rods he can use for lighter jigs and twister tails, and this new rod he can use for his lighter top water, some rattle traps, senko’s and such. Got a local store looking into wait times but it’s looking like I’ll be either partnering it up with a Daiwa tatula sv tws in 6.3 or the Shimano Curado K in 6.2 as I was told there probably best for all round gear ratio. The other rod I can get at a wicked price is the shimano crucial but don’t hear too much about that one
  24. Well he has 2-3 spinning rods from medium, to medium heavy, in fast and moderate-fast in the 6’6-7’ range. So leave those for the twister tails and such. And I just checked his current baitcaster (one a friend gave him as his first to try) and it’s a 7’ medium-heavy rated for 1/2-11/2oz looks to be moderate so he could use that for trolling. But I know he wants to get himself a nice rod finally as everything he has is cheaper so maybe focus more on a 7’-7’4” not to be used for trolling or that 1 1/2oz lure.
