  1. I currently have two of them and love them! I will probably purchase another one. They are the reason I now will be getting a glx most likely the 893c. Highly recommened the imx pro’s and for that money it’s a no brainer for me
  2. So I spent most of my morning driving all over the place before I finally got my hands on the imx pro 884 twfr a model I have been considering myself. Side by side I had the zodias 7’2 heavy fast, 7’5” extra heavy fast, st. Croix ltb slop-n-frog, shimano crucial 7’3 heavy. Weaning a few out really quickly I walked out with the loomis 884c twfr. I think for really thick stuff the 885 would be a much better choice but this rod can definately do it. I grabbed a chronarch mgl and spooled up 50lbs power pro braid and a 1/2oz frog and hit the pond. Water is really low as they are pumping out for crop and the mats were thicker then usual but figured it would be a good test. I ended up missing close to 7 or 8 blowouts, but hooked into 7 bass from 1.25lbs to 5lbs 4oz, in open water to the thickiest stuff the pond had to offer. This rod preformed flawlessly. Plenty of backbone to horse that 5lber out of a thick mat and over a fallen down log, yet soft enough to throw that 1/2oz frog across the pond even on a really windy day! Needless to say I am very thrilled by this rod and pleased I made the choice with the loomis over the zodias. Not to mention the weight and balance is great on the rod. I will be hitting 3 different ponds tomorrow to try putting it through it’s paces again!
  3. I have the kistler helium and a loomis imx pro. Both are excellent rods! Both I highly recommened. Both I will purchase again in the future without a doubt. The kistler is a little harder to get my hands on before purchasing as they aren’t in any shops local to me. The loomis on the other hand is. Once if fishes my imx pro I was sold on the loomis rods and will be stepping up to glx and/or nrx very shortly! Id love to try the mega bass rods as well as I’ve heard nothing but great things
  4. I really wanted to try them, I heard bad things about there older too water rods but there newer 884 and 885 I’ve heard good things. Trying to get my hands on one to see
  5. Gloomis sells an 884 twfr and an 885 twfr (top water frog rod) in the imx pro series rods
  6. I would probably opt for the mojo bass series over the bass x. The blank is that much better and when considering jigs, the added sensitivity helps for sure. The tatula xt is a good rod and I’ve heard better about the regular tatula as everyone seems to be speaking highly of them. Only ever fished the tatula xt series. Might be worth a look
  7. I can’t speak directly for the ltb but have a kistler helium, daiwa tatula lt, daiwa zillion and a st. Croix avid X. The daiwa rods aren’t in the same Legue as the kistler and st. Croix as far a sensitivity goes on the models I have. Still an excellent rod, and d**n well worth there price tag! The avid x is excellent as well and would highly recommend to anyone. The thing about st. Croix that bothers me a bit is that a lot of there models are tip heavy and is the reason when I spend a little extra i lean a different route. There warrenty is second to none and is a huge factor for most. The kistler is my favourite out of the three mentioned. Light, well balanced, good power, very sensitive. Will be purchasing another for sure
  8. I’d like to say rod but I think I’d have to go with reel. I seem to purchase rods with less concern about money then reels. Then I end up with a few rods without reels before I start purchasing reels
  9. Oops my apologies! Missed that part some how. In that case the mojo bass has an excellent blank, the dobyns fury are also very popular. As far as reels go, I’m a fan of the Shimano NASCI but the daiwa fuego lt or the daiwa bg seems to be winning for most popular reel around the 100 dollar mark
  10. Well you said all are casting so why not look into a spinning set up for dropshot and shaky heads, or other smaller finesse stuff? Another helium, z-bone, or glx with a shimano ci4+ Reel?
  11. I didn’t mean faster on the retrieve I meant easier to set up, faster to set up and get fishing.
  12. I have a chronarch mgl 7.1:1 and the daiwa tatula sv tws 6.3:1. The daiwa is faster more user friendly to set up especially for beginners. Easier casting in wind, faster change overs from various baits due to the magnetic brakes. The chronarch is way smoother, lighter, more comfortable palming, once I used it I much prefer it for most of my fishing needs. If I could afford to replace most of my reels with them I would
  13. think the 894 is what I’m looking for problem is they are currently sold out so I might grab the 893 to try it out and pick up the 894 when it’s back in stock. Might have to wait on the 894 for a bit but I just don’t want too pass on up the sale
  14. I am super curious on the orochi flatside and heard there amazing rods! If you can get your hands on one of definately take a look at it. The st. Croix are suppose to be great rods but they feel really heavy to me so just not my thing. i fish with an imx pro 845c cbr and love the rod! It’s the reason I’m now in the market for a glx or nrx as I’m hooked! Would highly recommend to anyone
  15. Thank you. Going try to get my hands on them this week before I make the drive to the store I’m going buy them. It’s a bit of a drive from me otherwise I’d go there this week for sure. Want to feel them and compare it to the feel of my kistler. Might help me make a decision. I’m leaning heavily to the 894c for the fact I feel it’s more versatile. Who knows, I have a terrible addiction and might end up adding the other soon then I think
  16. So kind of narrowing it down to the 893 and the 894 mainly. the kistler being rated for 1/8-3/4 oz but feeling on the lighter side I figured I could use for skipping under docks, finesse jigs, senko’s, larger shaky heads/drop shots, lighter T-rigs and such, the flipping stick use for heavy jigs, and t-rigs, larger football head jigs. id be using the loomis for mainly open water to light cover or lighter cover, rock ledges and such. For smaller football head, chatterbaits, 3/8-1/2 jigs, Texas rigs, maybe spinner baits, swimjigs, paddletails and such. I’d love to have the sensitivity of the 893 but afraid I might be under powered if it in light cover
  17. I have a Sierra 734c and so far have been very pleased with it. It’s relativly new to me and have very little use with it compared to my other new rods due to purchasing so many at the same time. I don’t have another dobyns to compare too but as far as balance goes it’s one of the best balanced rods I own. I purchased a daiwa zillion and it was going replace the dobyns but I think I prefer the feel of the dobyns more. I wanted a champion but the 734c was sold in the champion and champion xp at the time and the Sierra was on a close out price.
  18. The 873 really peaks my interest but I’m able to get 250-285 off an nrx 894c, and the 853, 854 and I believe the 893 in the glx I can get for a smoking price. So I’m really looking st the 853, 854, 893 possibly 894 in the glx series or just the 894c in the nrx. If the 873 was part of that deal I think I’d probably go that route but I can’t pass up on these deals. I’d even consider getting two of the deals but I’ll start with 1 for now
  19. Thank you, the way you rated them helps a lot with how I imagine using the rod. Thank you. I just didn’t want to get the 894c and it being too close to my currently flipping stick that I had two rods the same. Yes I’d like to double down and use it around cover but anything real heavy or thick mats is the reason I have the other stick. I’d like to use it for soft plastics and jigs in open water and around lighter cover like I mentioned and though the 893 might give me the edge in sensitivity and it wouldn’t of been big. Thank you,
  20. 1000 dollars for a used rod, no thanks. But I don’t mind spending money. I am mainly a hunter and long range target shooter. So I’ve spent 7500 on 1 rifle. The girlfriend started to get annoyed and said fine a new hobby!!! Her mistake lol Now being in Canada prices are higher to begin with. A Shimano Zodias is 270, an e6x is 220-300, a loomis imx is 400-450, so an nrx is 650-700 roughly. Kistlers are 300-700 depending on models. A chronarch mgl is 379, and curado k is 250. So for me I’d be willing to spend 500 ish on a rod and 350-400 on a reel at most!!!
  21. I currently have a 7’6” heavy extra fast flipping stick and a 7’ medium heavy fast kistler helium. The helium just seems a little light when throwing jigs and such. Good rod, an older helium but still good. I just got the bug mostly for higher end equipment. I love throwing smaller paddletails, swim jigs, 3/8-1/2 jigs with trailers, finesse jigs, 1/2 football head jigs, t-rigs and such. I’d probably try chatterbaits on them as well. Like I said I’m mostly interested in just getting a high end rod. I figured the kistler I could keep for closer quarters, and the flipping stick for super heavy or thick cover. So not sure on the true purpose for the glx or nrx that I’d be lookin at
  22. Unfortunately I think it’s just those 4 options I have, I am able to get a good deal on those 4 models and I’ll have to take a look to see if it extends to anything else.
  23. Just curious as to why go one route over the other? Mostly curious as to why the longer 7’5” rod seems to be more popular. I’m always seeing people recommend 893/894 if you were to get just one high end rod. I’m right on the edge of grabbing either the 853/854 or one of the 893/894 just have to decide between those 4. I was thinking of going more the 4 power as it’s more universal from what I’ve been told and I found a used 803 that might be able to grab for super cheap to cover the 3 power
  24. I’m glad I read this post. I use a st. Croix avid x in a spinning set up and love the pure power, great sensitivity, good tip just an overall good rod. I was eyeing up a new jig rod and I was having thoughts about grabbing one of the legend elites or legend X to try out. The others I was looking at was loomis in the imx pro, glx or nrx If I find a sale or a good used one. I find st. Croix to be a little tip heavy, and prefer the balance on the loomis Rods. I think I’ll be looking more towards trying out a glx or nrx!! Whats the last rod you pictured up in 844c. You said shimano/g.loomis so is that the conquest?
  25. Reels would only be shimano and daiwa and a company we can’t say Rods - g. Loomis - kistler - st. Croix - dobyns - that same company
