  1. awesome thanks for sharing. This year has been a great year for me, working on new techniques, new rods and reels, new waters! -This year the Jackall karea frog has been a great frog and my success rate went way up! -Berkley squarebill crankbaits have done wonders for me this season, caught more big bass on them then any other crankbait I’ve ever used! -dirty jigs 3/8 and 1/2oz skirted jigs in the past 2 weeks have been a bit of a game changer and can’t wait to really work on it next season! -senko specifically in black with red flake (most other soft plastics in that colour as well)
  2. Awesome! Well the chronarch mgl I bought today is a 7.1:1 so maybe I’ll throw that on the 852 for the senkos and such and look into the metanium for 894
  3. Thanks, just wasn’t sure if one might be a bit more suited for one or the other particular styles of fishing? Cause before I get a metanium I just wanted to figure what gear ratio to get. If I buy the metanium for the jigs then I’m debating on trying a 8.5:1 or if the 7.4:1 is enough.
  4. So I think I’ve settle on trying s metanium mgl finally. I purchased 2 new rods last weekend a glx 852c vs a glx 894c. I need to outfit these rods with reels and decided to get another chronarch mgl as it’s my favorite reel I own, but figured I should try a metanium that will be the other. But would the chronarch or metanium fit better with the 852c for throwing weightless senkos, shakey heads weightless flukes and 1/8-3/16 finesse jigs, or for the 894c for throwing 3/8-1/2 oz jigs with trailers, t-rigs and such?
  5. Well I went to the store today to put the 70 in hand to see what I thought and went with another chronarch mgl lol it was a great feeling reel but the chronarch was on sale for 20 dollars more so it was a no brainer. I was fondling the metanium mgl again and I don’t feel much of a difference between that and the chronarch but I want to try one so the other reel will be a metanium mgl. Just have to decide which one for what. The chronarch mgl for more finesse stuff or for jigs and or if the metanium would make a better finesse reel or jig reel! Got to decide which gear ratio to get. Debating using the metanium in a 8 gear ratio for the jigs and the chronarch 7.1:1 for the finesse
  6. I have fished the stradic fk only once but I was able to fish it for a couple hours. And I own the stradic ci4+, both are awesome reels but if I were purchasing another (which I am shortly) it will be another ci4+
  7. My heavier jig rod is a glx 894c which is a 7’5” heavy fast action rod and my frog rod is an imx pro 884c twfr which is a 7’4” heavy fast action rod. Both currently have 7.1:1 chronarch mgl’s on them
  8. Awesome thank you! You feel the metanium mgl is that much better of a reel to justify almost 200 more? I need 2 reels and was hoping to try a metanium mgl for the one rod but was debating on trying the 70 or just going with another chronarch mgl as I have a few already and love the chronarch mgl’s
  9. Thanks. Between the 70 and the chronarch then? Is there one you prefer over the other for certain technique or style of fishing? Or if there were closer in price would you just go with the chronarch?
  10. What about the 70 do you prefer over the K? I have 1 K now and 2 chronarch mgl’s and I’m requiring two more reels. I’m debating on trying the metanium or sticking with another chronarch and then maybe trying the 70
  11. How long do you wait in between hopping a jig. Saw I cast it out, let it hit bottom, wait 5-10 seconds and give it 2-3 hops. Is it bad to wait too long or, be too fast and hop too often?
  12. Thank you! I’m not ready just yet to make another purchase. I actually need 2 more reels and debating on pulling one of the chronarch off, moving it around and trying a metanium to see if there worth there money over the chronarch. i was talking to a gentleman who’s sponsored by shimano/loomis and he fishing tons of the glx and nrx. I was asking him about the conquest and he said everyone that he fishing with (other guys sponsored) were excited by the conquest but after fishing them a season, most sold them to go back to a glx or nrx. Not that they weren’t nice but the difference didn’t outway there steep price and that the new glx’s and nrx are so close it’s not overly worth it.
  13. Conquest is far outside my budget so it will be glx or nrx only. What’s the benefit of going the mbr over the jwr? What do you like to use a 3 power mbr for?
  14. I use 6.x:1 for cranks a d a 7.x:1 for jigs and frogs but debating on trying a 8.x:1 on either my frog or jig rods to give it a shot
  15. I use a 7 gear ratio for jigs, frogs, jigs, t-rigs, soft plastics and such. Will get a 8 gear ratio for either my frog rod or jig rod to try out.
  16. Well I’d love to find those seibert jigs in Canada cause to order them, pay the exchange then duty and shipping it’s going be pricey to order right from them
  17. I am definately new to jig fishing as i just started trying it early this year but no very little luck on it. Caught 2 or 3 swimming a jig back from cover almost on shore and after that nothing. Then I kept hearing great things about jigs so finally decided to give a another go and bought a new rod and 3rd cast hooked a 4.75lbs bass and the very next cast got a 3lber. That’s what got me fired up! i was using a 1/2oz dirty jig and a d**n 1/2oz jig with a reaction innovations kinky beaver. I was just popping it off the ground. The bigger bass picked it up and there was a Small weight change when I picked up slack and I set the hook. The 3lber grabbed it on the initial fall as I saw the line move so I set the hook! It has won me over just yet, and definately not confident in it but it has my attention and going to spend a lot of time practicing throwing a jig as every recommeneds it, quality over quantity of fish normally, and got the new rod I have to use lol!
  18. Thanks, which jigs from them? Both, mainly large mouth but definitely chase some good smallmouth!
  19. I wish I could find them here in Canada! I’m sure a few stores have them but I’ve been looking and looking online trying to find them and cant seem too! Thanks! So then after narrowing it down you found the same results, black and blue in murky water or cloudy days, and natural on sunny or clear? What kind of paddletail do you use as a trailer?

I’m new to jig fishing this year and have been super unsuccessful with it and stopped fishing it early on. Just this weekend I came across a good deal on a new glx 894c and grabbed it for a “new jig rod” when I don’t even jig fish lol. I had 3 or 4 jigs in the box so tied one on and threw a kinky beaver trailer on. Third cast I stuck a beauty 4.75lber and the cast right afterwards I stuck another 3lber! I now really want to improve my jig fishing and wondering what jigs are your favorite? How do you fish them? Any colour recommendations?
  21. Haha I know what you mean. My first “nicer” rod was on a wicked sale and thought I was getting a steal of a deal. Next thing you know I’m curious as to what the next level is like, and the next level. Sooner then later I was purchasing rods after rods after rods, each one being higher end then the last. That first nicer rod was a loomis, and after trying many other brands the loomis is what keeps me wanting another
  22. Thank you! It is still pretty early to give you proper feedback yet but from initial impressions they are beyond my expectations and well above what I was using. My previous set ups were an older kistler helium lta, and a high end rod from another company as my flipping stick for mid to heavy jigs. Now the 894 is lighter, better balanced, little softer tip, way more sensitive. Not quite as stout but still loads of back bone for 99% of what I’ll be doing! The 852 is rated for 1/8-3/8oz and the kistler is rated for 1/8-3/4 oz. I didn’t think Rods got much lighter then that. It’s a great rod but it’s almost too stout for finesse, but felt almost over loaded with a 3/8oz-1/2oz jig and trailer. I used it for senko’s and small weighted senkos and it did okay, but made for a nice paddletail rod medium heavy fast action. The 852 is lighter, faster tip, and can launch a weightless senko further then I could possibly imagine! Unbelievably sensitive, but it’s strickly a finesse rod!
  23. Haha I was meaning too but was too excited to stop and take it off when I wanted to be fishing lol! Thank you!
  24. I’ve been going back and fourth for about 2 months now on if I should step up and try the higher end loomis rods. Well I posted a thread month and a half back or so and found a great deal and waited too long and missed it. So about a week ago I posted another and you guys gave me some great advice and when I ran across the deals again I didn’t hesitate. Friday night and and Saturday morning I went out and got myself a g. Loomis glx 894c jwr and a glx 852c jwr paired them with chronarch mgl’s. I went out Saturday afternoon to a local pond to try them out. I tied on a 1/2oz Zman jig with a reaction innovations kinky beaver and 3rd cast on the 894c I stuck a beauty 4.75lb largie! Very next cast I hooked a nice 3lber i set down the 894c and picked up the 852c. Wow what a light beautifully balanced rod. I threw a 5” senko on and picked up a few more nice fish, but nothing worth weighing for numbers, guessing all in the 1-2.25lb range. That little rod has loads of power for such a small rod. just wanted to say thank you everyone who helped and pointed me in the right direction! I know I was looking for the 853c but figured the 852c would take care of my finesse problem a bit better and leaves it open for a 893c in the not so distant future. Possibly an nrx this time!. Thank you
  25. I prefer multiple rods so I can switch baits and techniques faster as well. In the boat I’ll always have 6-9 rods. And pond I always have atleast 2-3. Debating on the time of the year will determine what 2-3 I will bring
