St Croix Avid X
I know it’s not the exact rods your looking at but I have an avid x medium fast spinning and a loomis glx 852c which is a medium xtrafast casting. I would much rather throw a chatterbait on my avid x over the loomis but I still wouldn’t want too throw a chatterbait on either. A medium xtrafast is awesome for weightless senko’s, flukes, finesse t-rigs, maybe real finesse jigs, dropshot, shakey head. It’s a finesse style rod for sure. I wouldn’t be tossing spinners and chatterbaits on it for sure

What line/reel for my first baitcaster?
Dobyns 734c for sure over the 735 for the lures you listed. Sure the 734 isn’t s frog rod but the 735 isn’t a senko rod either so seeing as you said the weightless t-rigged senko or 1/8 bullet weight is what you throw a ton of, cater to that. I dont own a 70, but do own a curado k, and daiwa tatula sv. I much prefer the shimano reels in general. The curado k will cast a country mile, buttery smooth on the retrieve and I heard the 70 is the same, but more on the finesse side of baitcasters so would probably be a little better for throwing a weightless plastic. The tatula is a tough reel to beat, excellent for a first bait caster as it’s easier to learn off of. They are my dads favorite. Personally just like the shimano so I’d recommend looking at the curado 70

Nrx/glx 853c
So went out today and found one! I know they aren’t nrx’s but found the 852c in stock and it felt awesome so figured I’d try it! Gives me the chance to get the 893c later!! Going out to try them now! Thanks everyone

Nrx/glx 853c
Haha thanks but if I go to sell the 853c cause it’s not what I want I’ll be getting the 893 or 852. Pretty set on loomis

Nrx/glx 853c
Thanks. Did some caling around again again today and still can’t find the 852c in stock. But will go take a look between the 853c and the 893c. Just got home with the 894 and that’s one sweet feeling rod. Hopefully fish it tomorrow

Looking for a crankbait setup, need help
I was using an abu veritas spinning rod for 2 years and this season after not overly enjoying crankbait fishing due to lower success rates I purchased a 7’ g.loomis imx pro 845c cbr and I love it! I have been throwing it every chance I get and have caught more fish, more big bass then almost any other bait I’ve thrown. Quickly becoming one of my favorite Rods and style of fishing! (Careful though, that’s what confirmed my addiction to loomis rods, getting another loomis tomorrow)

Nrx/glx 853c
Thanks everyone! I’m picking up the 894c tomorrow after work, and Saturday I’m going try to pop by all the local stores to get my hands on the 853c, and 893c and hopefully the 852c. I want the 893 because no matter where I look everyone speaks so highly of it but I feel like it might be a touch long when I fish my local pond and it grows up quick there so a shorter rod comes in handy for sure! When on the boat there won’t be a problem. The 852 seems to be very popular as well, never even considered it until everyone just recently mention I should go that route. Every store I go to is sold out! I feel like the 853 would be great but just got me worried when everyone seems to go 852 or 893. So if you had to choose just one to do what your doing with both rods, which way would you lean?

Recommendations on a new rod?
I have a 7’ medium fast avid x spinning paired with a stradic ci4+ and that’s a heck of stick, now I also fish a lot (not mine but in the boat) a 7’ medium heavy fast action avid x with a diawa tatula sv casting rod and once again an unreal rod! I fish rods from 6’6”-7’6” and my favorite overall length even from bank is between 7’ and 7’3” roughly. The added length over a 6’6-6’10” rod gives you more leverage, way better casting distance which makes all the difference from a bank, still easy to control on tighter quarters. When the weeds are at there peak around the ponds I fish my 7’ rod gets a ton of use.

Nrx/glx 853c
Awesome thank you, I still can’t seem to find the 852c anywhere but have found multiple 853c’s in the glx and nrx. Might try to go this weekend to take a peak at them. I’m thinking that’s probably the way I’ll go. I fish a ton of pond and from boat and worried the 893 will limit my pond fishing. I can see where it would be great for deeper water but fish more shallow then anything and figured the 853 can make do in the deeper stuff for now.

G. Loomis 853/854 vs 893/894
Looks like by Wednesday I should own a glx 894c paired with a chronarch mgl! Can’t wait to get out and fish it. Problem is I found a way to get two without getting in a hep of trouble lol. So would like to grab a second rod for the lighter stuff before the following weekend as I’m heading out on the water Saturday Sunday with my dad for some bass fishing. This second rod rod will most likely be a glx as well. I’d like to cover 5” weightless senko’s, weightless flukes, shaky head maybe dropshot (have a spinning rod to cover the shaky head and drop shot if this rod doesn’t work out), small paddletails on a 1/4oz Swimjig head. I love throwing senkos and will pair this rod with either an aldebaran or another chronarch mgl. Which glx should it be? Leaning towards the 853c as the 852 is sold out and thinking the 893 would be too close to the 894?

Nrx/glx 853c
Stumbled across the deal on the glx 894c jwr again so picking that up hopefully Wednesday as it’s on hold!! Can’t wait to get that one. Now just have to decide between the 852c, 853c and 893c. The 852c is something I don’t have in stock around me, but the other two are. But willing to wait a little bit. The 894c will be paired with a chronarch mgl and the other will most likely wear an aldebaran or chronarch mgl

Dropshot vs shakey head rods?
Thank you everyone. I currently don’t fish either technique. This summer I was fishing smellies in 30-50’ of water with a weightless or 3/16oz bullet weight t-rigged senko and was nailing 3.5lbs-5lbs bass almost every other cast. I was using a 7’ avid x medium fast rod. That was out of my norm for sure as I’ve never had to go that deep before. I was thinking of getting set up those for these techniques as I ran into the issue a few different lakes where the fish were way deeper then I’m use to fishing. I wasn’t sure if my rod would cut it or if I should keep the avid x for shaky head and pick up another rod for drop shot or not

New rod for the old man
Well rolling through the store today while getting some tackle for my upcoming annual moose hunt and walleye fishing trip the e6x was on a wicked deal for 130.00 off retail. So I grabbed the 845c cbr and another daiwa tatula sv tws, spooled up 15lbs invisx and through a nice little squarebill picked up my dad and gave it too him way early seeing as his birthdays not till January lol! We headed out to a local pond to give it a shot and he was loving it! He was Picking up large mouth like It was going out of style lol! We are heading to a lake next weekend where we have done really well the last few times and when I saw the deal on the e6x I couldn’t pass it up

Nrx/glx 853c
I was debating the 852c as I figured it would be better for the shaky head and drop shot, but thought it might struggle a little more with paddletails on a 1/8-1/4oz swim jig head, fluke with nail weight for depths. I thought the 853 might be better in the depths. Do you have both? I’d like love get one of these rods.

e6x, avid x, tatula elite
I couldn’t really tell you as my avid x’s are split grip, and my one e6x is split grip and the other is full. So I can’t compare. what haggard said about the power ratings. I have noticed the avid’s do fish a little on the heavier side of there rating and out of the 4 loomis rods id say there closer to the lighter side of there ratings. Example being my medium heavy avid x is on the heavier side of that medium heavy. Not a bad thing just something to take note of when your comparing the two. I really don’t think you can go wrong no matter what you pick. You’ll definately be happy regardless. I just personally prefer the e6x over the avids atleast in the models I have and have fished. Not by a lot by any means. Small things like the weight and balance of the e6x just feels night and day better then an avid x in both spinning and casting

e6x, avid x, tatula elite
Never fished the tatula elite series rods, but they do feel pretty nice. I have 2 e6x’s and 2 avid x’s. Personally i feel that the loomis are lighter and better balanced. The avids are a stronger blank. Both are great. I do like the e6x’s a bit better I think, not a ton but a bit which does not seem to be the general consensus around here and i can’t seem to figure out why. They definately seem more sensitive to me. I was going with what everyone else said originally with the avid x being a better rod but when the e6x goes on sale it was too tough to say no to.

Nrx/glx 853c
I’m looking for a rod to handle generally weightless senkos, 1/8ozbullet weight added sometimes, weightless or light t-rigs, small paddle tails, flukes kind of thing. I’d like to try the occasional dropshot or shaky head. you don’t like the rod too much?
-
Nrx/glx 853c
I have an opportunity to purchase a nrx for a great price. I’ve been waiting for a good deal on a glx or nrx 894c as I missed the last one and its eating me inside. While waiting I stumbled across the 853c and it’s got me thinking. What’s everyone’s thoughts on this rod? What do you use it for?

Weightless Finesse Setup (Baitcaster)?
Awesome set up! Let us know what you think of the 852c. Might have a line on a 853c at a great that I was debating on pairing with the shimano aldebaran for a finesse casting set up. Little heavier but figured still might work nicely.

Baitcasting rod for plastics
Personally I haven’t fished the exact rods your looking st but have fished a few different variations of the e6x, 1 mojo bass and 1 Sierra. Personally I think the e6x is the rod id go with as well. Feels better built and more sensitive to me then the mojo and Sierra. The extra fast tip will be great for that quick response for finesse fishing. Don’t think you could go wrong with any of them. I love my Sierra and the mojo is a heck of a rod but I just like the e6x better then both of them
-
Spinning or Baitcasting or both
I use both but have 2 spinning set ups and 6 or 7 casting set up. 9.9 out of 10 times I’m throwing a casting rod and even when I should be throwing a spinning rod and trying to go more finesse I’m trying it on a casting rod. But the spinning set ups have there purposes and I won’t ever get rid of it completely. Illl probsbly upgrade to the best rod and reel I can afford for the finesse application, and just stick to using casters for everything else

Dropshot vs shakey head rods?
I’m debating on grabbing a new finesse set up. Not set in stone as there’s a few others that have my attention but it’s one style of fishing I’d like to get better at. My go too is a weightless Texas rigged senko but this year I fished a really deep lake and it was had to match weight with good fall/float of the senko and weightless took too long to get down there. Im wondering what’s the difference I’m looking for between these two rods for each technique and why not fish them on the same rod as it seems like such a similar technique both requiring good sensitivity. I understand most people probably do fish on the same rod but I see that some people have a rod for each of these techniques? What is your opinion on the perfect rod combined or for each? Spinning and/or casting?

Daiwa Zillion 741 MHRB - What would you use it for?
I owned the 7’2” mh regular and after fishing it a few times I’d say it would work nicely for a few different things and could be used for certain others in a pinch. To me I thought it would make a nice deep diving crank rod, chatterbait, spinner bait rod. Small-medium swimbaits and paddletails. I used it once for frogs in a pinch in light cover and it had loads of power but a little slow, and used for jigs and t-rigs as well but didn’t like as much as my current setups.

You just don't see this kind of customer service nowadays
I don’t know anything really about ALX rods and debating on adding another to my arsenal. I currently have loomis rods, a kistler rod, dobyns, daiwa, st. Croix and another brand. Wondering in comparison how they stack up against some of these brands I’ve mentioned. I’m not looking for the go with ALX answer. Looking more for I’ve fished a “loomis imx pro, and the zolo has better sensitivity but isn’t quite as sensitive as my kistler helium but it’s super close. And the balance equals out the difference” or something like that. I’d like to know more about them and why you prefer it

Different rods or all the same?
I like variety, that way you can judge for yourself the difference between manufacturers. There is a few I do like better then others and after having fished a bunch I’m more inclined to go with them for future purchases but as of now I have st. Croix, loomis, dobyns, daiwa, kistler and a company that can’t be named. As for reels, I’m partial to shimano but love the daiwa as well. I don’t wonder too far from them when making a new purchase for a reel
