  1. The rod is new w/ tags from a reputable dealer. Thanks everyone for your great input... @J Francho 's advice. Ordered the GLX but will be on the look out for an NRX at a lower cost!
  2. I've been trying to avoid reviving beaten topics but I can't seem to make a decision between the 852s NRX & GLX. Granted the $80 dollar difference isn't horribly great but knowing if there's a great difference in rods is the question we all ask (Non-owners of either rod). However, just curious on your opinions (owners of the rods) is there truly that great of a difference at only an $80 jump? Lastly, I can pick up the GLX now, on sale for 250, or do I pass and get the NRX? ***Both rods are most recent versions.
  3. Hahaha the frustration’s real!!! I thank you all for your input. I at least know now I’m not going crazy with all the choices a well played marketing schemes.
  4. So, while I have fallen victim to my share of broken lines and lost lures, I often wonder whether or not I’m pairing my line with the right tackle; obviously not! In my search for answers, very specific answers at that, I’ve come across what seems to have been the most thorough and yet efficient article on ‘bassfishin’ website titled fishing-line-guide [I couldn’t add link for some reason]. I mean, yes!!! Finally, a very detailed article, but... wow! I couldn’t help but feeling like my three rod, three reel arsenal will get me no where. I realize that there ideal setups per technique or presentation but where’s the middle of the road? How can I make the most out of a reel without having to switch out the line with each lure change? For example, if one of my rod and reel combos can work many techniques and handle (obviously) the weight of many lures but technically based on the article requires a different line for each, how do I get around having to switch out the line? Does anyone have better recommendations? I fish (freshwater) with monofilament because I’m fairly new to fishing and that’s what’s always recommended to me. My current reels and rods are as follows: G.Loomis Mag Bass 782c 6’6” Med Fast Mag Bass 844c 7’ Heavy Fast Crankbait 864C DF 7’2” Med-Heavy Mod Shimano Chronarch 200E7 7.0:1 Curado K 6.2:1 & 8.5:1
  5. While I'm interested in hearing about your ideal setups, what I'm really looking for (something I can't seem to find) is some type of chart or list that details each rod with their actions, and the techniques that should be applied. Ex: Heavy Fast Rod works best for Frogging but can also be great for ______. Heavy Moderate..... ...and so forth and so on. Reason being, I have several new rods that I'd like to obviously use properly as well as assure myself that any future additions will be necessary--efficiency. ***Thanks for your input.
  6. Here's another way to phrase the question, I was going to buy the Curado K for my 7' MBR844c Heavy Fast but I haven't because it --in size-- is similar to the Chronarch I already have... why shouldn't I just use my Chronarch for both rods rather then going with a Diawa Steez SV TWS or a Shimano Metanium MGL (aside from the price difference)? Wouldn't those be more fitting for a greater rod?
  7. I assumed as much but I'm a tad confused as to how much my reel can handle... haha I know catch take it out on the big sea but why wouldn't I get a larger reel since it's a larger rod?
  8. So, I've got a few rods that I'm looking to pair with the best possible baitcaster possible (obviously subjective when discussing brands). That said, wanted to get an idea as to how I should choose the right reel to match a specific rod. Example, I have G.Loomis MBR844c Heavy Fast... how do I choose the proper reel? I assume that it can withstand a greater fight than my MBR782c Medium Fast that I paired with a Chronarch 200e7. So once again I'm trying to figure out what real peers with each specific flex from Med to Extra Heavy. Thanks!
  9. Thank you, IslandBass... but if I may. So, why would I choose #8 rather than #10? There's obviously a difference between the two, and the difference must be significant enough to have both in production but I'm still confused in that regard. I assume there's some correlation with the '12-20lb' listed on one of my Rods, correct?
  10. For lack of better words, can someone please explain Line Capacity/Test as if you were teaching a child! I've read many posts on the subject but there's so much fisherman jargon and technical terms that I'm a tad confused. I'm new to fishing in regards to finally purchasing my own tackle, rather then just showing up to the lake/ocean and fishing with a buddy's gear. As an example, I got an amazing deal on a few highend rods and one of the reels I purchased new and nearly free, was a Chronarch 200e7. The specs on the box read: Nylon Mono / lb. (yds.) -- 8(180) • 10(155) • 14(110) PowerPro Braided -- 30(190) • 50(120) • 65(80) Nylon Mono -- 8(180) • 10(155) • 14(110) Fil Tresse PowerPro -- 30(190) • 50(120) • 65(80) Lol, I'm so confused! Help, please! I'm looking to purchase a Mono, Braided, and Fluorocarbon Line but I don't know what I'm suppose to purchase for this particular reel or the others for that matter.
