Easy to use bait casting set-ups
Get a cheap one to learn with and then if you like it and want to keep using them then you can get a better setup. I got the Abu Garcia Black Max combo from Wally World for about 60 bucks. it has an adjustment on it for lure weight. What I was told to do was to tighten that so the lure falls freely but not fast. Once you get the adjustment down you can cast just like normal but when the lure hits the water it's going to slow down from the speed it was traveling through the air during the cast. All you have to do is slightly apply pressure with your thumb when the lure hits the water. Not so hard that the lure stops but enough to slow the spool down so it doesn't backlash on you. This has been a fool proof method for me.

That one thing you never thought you needed...
Mine would have to be braided fishing line. One specific brand I switched to lately just works for me. My casting and casting distance have both improved.

Catfish Creek State Park (Central Florida)
Thanks for the info. Locks are usually pretty good for fishing because of the flowing water. There is a ton of water out there so I'm sure it shouldn't be to hard to find some spots. Just helps if someone can point you in the right direction.

Damaged Rod Help
You could find a shop that's close by to have it repaired. I broke the tip off of one of my rods and the guy fixed it in about 5 minutes and it cost me like $2.50. That route may save you some time.

Catfish Creek State Park (Central Florida)
I'm planning on a camping trip out to either Catfish Creek or Lake Kissimmee State Park. Has anyone fished either one of these areas? I don't have a boat so I will be bank fishing. I'm hoping Catfish creek lives up to its name and is loaded with Catfish.

New guy from Florida
That is good to know. Ive tried a few ponds around the area with no luck. Even the famous stick marsh. I'll get on them soon though, I have a feeling. I bought my first bait caster and Ive yet to catch a fish with it so hopefully a nice largemouth will help break it in. Thanks everyone else for the welcomes!

New guy from Florida
Hey guys, Im a new guy here from the Florida coast. I am primarily a saltwater fisherman but I do love catching bass and everything else too. I have a couple of giants under my belt that I've caught on golf course ponds back home in North Carolina. Hopefully I can share some knowledge and gain some in the process.
