  1. What do you typically use small bullet weights for in the 1/8oz-1/4oz range? I know a lot of people like a small weight in front of a texas rigged stick bait. But I was curious about other uses. Thanks.
  2. KTP also has 20% off orders and free shipping if you put $81+ in the cart. Bought some of the new SK thunder crickets for $8/ bait (they are $14 on tw).
  3. Cabela's has Megabass Dog X Diamante for $12.88 in Tennessee Shad on their website.
  4. Made it to my first BMC. I was able to meet a lot of the faces of our sport at the expo. Some of the encounters were a disappointment. While others were about as good if not better than i expected. The three below (Hank Parker, Gerald Swindle, and Jordan Lee) were as nice and as genuine as it gets. Very cool event. Spent a lot of $$. Hope to attend another very soon.
  5. Found these at my local WM for $3 a piece. I went a little overboard.
  6. Surfing around on TW today I came across the Strike King thunder cricket vibrating jig. Seems like in the photos that the blade is connected to the head. I've heard nothing about this bait prior to today. It actually seems like there is very little information out there about this bait. Has anyone seen this bait in person? Thoughts?
  7. The thing I'm most impressed with the packaging of the fusion 19 hooks. Making hook organization easier than its ever been before. The clamshell packaging easily breaks away from the cardboard from the original packaging. And the shells are labeled with the hook size on the front. Treble hooks are in a small compact cube with hooks stuck in a small piece of foam. Small drop shot and finesse hooks are in tiny shells. When you leave it in the shell they don't bounce around the tackle box and easy to pick hook sizes. All the shell packages form around the hooks keeping it about as small as possible. Seems simple but Berkley hit the nail on the head by allowing anglers to keep hooks in a compact shell.
  8. My Academy order came in today. If you can't tell I like the chatter bait. I actually tried to place another order of Zako and razor shad. But, they must have sold out very quickly after being discounted. The sad part is how quickly those Zakos will go when you are on a good chatter bait bite.
  9. I'm planning on going to Knoxville for a day or two. I won't have a boat. So, it will just be the expo and weight in for me. Can anyone tell me what to expect from this event? Is there a cost (ticket) to get into the expo or weigh in? How big is the expo? Something you can see in a day or do you need more time? Thanks for any info.
  10. You shouldn't have any problem. I like throwing a Rico on one of IKE's 6'6 1st gen rods. The rod loads nicely to sling the Rico. And the length of the rod allows me to walk the bait easily even in a Kayak.
  11. Stopped by my local dsg. They had the Sprinker discounted at $12 and it was on the buy 5 get 5 rack. They came out to about $6 per frog. I've noticed a variety of reviews with this frog. But, I guess i better start liking them after tonight's purchase.
  12. For those of you that like swim baits, you might want to check out Academy's website. They have the 5" BD Shad for $10.48 listed at 58% off. Smash tech Convict and Felon 7" for under $7. Optimum Boom Boom $5.98 for the small and $6.98 for the big one. Along with many Egret Swimsuits, H2O, and Live Target baits with big discounts. And over $25 gets you free shipping. I haven't caught very many fish on swim baits. But I do buy them when I find big discounts on them.
  13. Any suggestions on other flat sided cb?
  14. Throwing away probably $30 in basically new baits hurt. I guess I'll b on the lookout for new flat sided cranks to replace the ones I just lost.
  15. Looking through one of my crankbait boxes today I was in search of a flat sided shallow runner. I have pretty good luck with them when things get tough. When I pulled a few out I noticed one had a crack right along the backbone seam holding the two sides together. At first I didn't give it much thought. Then I saw three more with the same exact thing. Some worse than others. It reminds me of a Coke can that has been pinched and dented inward at the bottom and popping out at the top. The crack does not go all the way through the bait and feels like a sponge when you pinch the bait together. All the baits are a Lucky Craft KJ Flat series of baits that have been stored in a clean Plano box stored in an air conditioned room. In fact most of the baits including the one shown below have either never been used or very lightly used. And, have been purchased within the last year. The question is, What causes this? How can you prevent this? And what do I do with the baits that I have (the action of the bait has clearly been altered)?
  16. I really like the gen 4 Abu revos for that reason. Big handles with big knobs. It seemed like a lot of reel manufactures got caught up making the smallest lightest reels possible. Kind of like the iPhone. They tried to make them as small and compact as possible. Now i have a big screen on my phone and big handles on my casting reels.
  17. Going to try out the new Abu Garcia Revo IKE reel. I think I'm really going to like the handle on this thing.
  18. The bait monkey got the best of me this week. It started out with picking up a bunch of Berkley Havoc pit boss baits. (Any idea if Berkley is fading out that line of baits?) Then my local DSG had Live Target frogs Buy 5 get 5. And now i find a link above for Presley outdoors. Which has the Booyah Flex for $5.99. I didn't need a single thing but that didn't stop me.
  19. Academy has all H2O hard baits for $2.50. With over $25 free shipping. I picked up a few topwater, jointed shad, jointed sunfish, and deep diving crank baits. I don't know anything about their H2O series. But at $2.50 a piece its worth a shot. But i do know Academy sure has a lot of my money with WarEagle on sale last week and now H2O as their Hot Deal at $2.50.
  20. I thought that tw usually had 10% off gift cards on fathers day. I had planned on getting one. But never saw where they were on sale this year. Instead i went into my local Academy. They had $2 off War Eagle spinner baits. Over $2 off plano boxes. And $2 off some strike king lures. I bought a bunch of War Eagle spinner baits, a plano spinner bait box, and a SK 2 tap.
  21. Picked up these Lucky Craft at my local Ollie's ($6.99 each).
  22. You might want to check again. Usually the Ollies close to me has junk. But my understanding was that they just received the lucky craft over the weekend. Of the two closest to me one had the Lucky Craft on the fishing rack. While the other had them in a box in the outdoor section b/c the fishing rack was full. They were just putting the RC crank baits out when i got there sunday. Might be worth checking out if you are close.
  23. Ollie's Bargain Outlet just received a good number of Lucky Craft lures all priced at $6.99 in my area. I picked up a bunch of pointers, Sammy, SKT MR and a few gun fish. I've never seen the Sammy and pointers priced that low. I liked the color selection with it mostly being shad. They also had a bunch of lucky craft lures I've never seen before with only Japanese writing on the back. Makes you wonder where they came from. They also had a good selection Rick Clunn crank baits and jerk baits priced around $4.
  24. Academy's online site has $10 off $50 on full priced items with the code spring10 at checkout.
  25. I am planning a trip to Florida later this year and bringing my kayak with me. I'd like to target redfish in the rivers and lagoons. And, I've always heard you can catch them on bass gear. I'm interested in the type of bass lures and gear i should use that would be most productive with redfish.
