I actually recently sent the 110 pictured below to Megabass after filling out their warranty claim sheet. While not broken, I was fishing the bait and noticed it had a strange action. Looking it over I noticed what appeared to be moisture inside the bait. ISo I put it away for the day. On my next fishing trip I saw what appeared to be rust inside the bait. The 110 looks basically new with no visible cracks, chipping, or holes. I'm hopeful megabass will replace the bait. As long as they replace it I won't have an issue. When you produce thousands of baits you're bound to have a few imperfections. I'm just glad in this case it happened to a translucent bait where the problem could easily be discovered.

I bought a few of these Lucky Craft Flat CB SR. I've never heard of them. And there doesn't seem to be a lot of information out there about them. But, they do look like a good spring time crank.

Depending on the conditions, if i'm fishing with the wind It's almost necessary to make a complete stop in order to not make a compete turn within seconds. The power pole helps a lot if you are in shallow water.

I didn't realize it was a design feature of the boat. I have a love/hate relationship with my bonafide. When the conditions are right for the boat its effortless and a pleasure to fish out of. But, when the conditions are not ideal I'm in for an all day fight.

I have the Bonafide SS127. Which is basically my first fishing Kayak. I've had it for about a year and a half and Its been everywhere with me. A couple trips to Florida fishing the swamp and salt flats. Locally, larger larger lakes in Kentucky down to small streams. The pros: Stability, large deck, storage.Fishes great on creeks with faster moving water. The cons: I can only think of one, but it's a big one. The kayak always wants to face the wind. Any wind above 5 mph will drive you nuts. If you are fishing down a bank with the wind to your back will turn you to the wind within seconds of putting the paddle down. I bought a power pole micro to help with this issue. I believe its almost needed for this kayak if you face windy conditions.

Scrounger. Looks great in the water. But, it has only produced 1 fish for me.

One of the fastest growing forms of fishing in the fly fishing industry is called Tenkara. My basic understanding is you have a telescoping rod that is a cross between a cane pole and a fly rod. No reel, no fly line. Just a rod, a tapered leader, and a fly. One rod that breaks down into a 1 foot section a couple of flies and you're ready to fish for the day. This fishing seems to be popular with backpackers and people looking to get back to the very basics of fishing. While I haven't bought a setup yet. I'm very intrigued by the simplicity of this style of fishing.

It's hard to see in the photo. But the split ring was bent into an oval and opened up.

Thanks for the advice. I'll have to pick some of this stuff up. And, be better prepared next time.

I am on a vacation in the sunshine state this week. The goal? To catch my biggest bass. So, I committed to throwing big bait in search of a giant. Today I had a huge fish take my megabass I Slide 185. He came off right beside the boat. After further inspection I realized the rear treble hook was gone and the split ring was twisted and open. So I cut the lure off and replaced it with my 2nd Megabass I Slide 185. After regrouping I hooked into a second fish. The fish jumped throwing the bait back at the boat. And, again after checking the bait one of the rear trebles had a hook missing. I was crushed after the first fish. I was mad after the second. I've always heard to change your hardware. But, I always assumed that was over the top on a bait that was pricy from the start. Today I learned my lesson the hard way. I am defeated and disappointed. However, I did find a little redemption later in the day with a nice fish on the R2S S-Waver 168.

The new Berkley Fusion terminal tackle has my interest. Underspins, swimbait heads, weighted wacky hooks. The original Fusion hooks are stupid sharp. I think it's about time to snag a few.

1.0, 1.5, and 2.5 KVD square bills are $3.97 on Cabela's website. I passed because i'm stocked up on them right now. But, looks like a great deal.

I've been avoiding the monkey for quite some time. It caught up to me this weekend. My local Ollie's had 25% off fishing gear. Bringing these Lucky Craft lures down to $5.24. I was surprised to see Staysees 90 included on the racks. Looking forward to trying it out this fall.

Last year my local Ollie's had LC EPG and LL pointers for around $6 so I picked up a few. One being in a snake pattern. I haven't used them a great deal yet. But one of them is chewed up pretty good. I kind of like the more slender profile.

FishUSA was my go to online tackle store up to the moment they updated their web site. I haven't placed an order since. I hope they will eventually go back to their old ways. But, until then I'll look elsewhere.

I'm turning into a grumpy old man at the age of 28. But It reminds me of the direction of country music. I don't like bro country and I don't like bro fishing. I see some people say its good for the sport. Getting younger people interested in fishing. However, bigger is not always better. I've noticed multiple concerning things on the water out of younger anglers just in the last few month. Whether it's someone blasting through a no wake zone or jumping next to you on a spot. And, I'm sure most of them have a gopro strapped to them or their boat waiting for an altercation to post on youtube. Obviously, I have no idea if the young anglers I saw even know whoo the bro squad is. But, there sure are a lot of days that it seems like respect and common sense seems to be left at the ramp. And, it makes you wonder what impact things like youtube might have on people.

The bass mafia terminal coffin is $40 at Academy. I bought two of them earlier this year when they had a 20% sale. I have only hooks in one and only weights in the other. Not to say it isn't still pretty high considering its just plastic and foam blocks. But, I've never been so organized with my terminal tackle. The only downside is the foam blocks take up a lot of room. So, you can't fit nearly as many hooks in a box.
