Cranking Rod Selection
Ugly sticks are good for cranking but you might not get the sensitivity you need when fishing shallow crankbaits for example you need to be able to feel every thing you’re bait is bumping into, rocks, wood, brush, grass you want to know so you can avoid snags or sometimes detect either a bite or a snag. If an ugly stick works for you use it. My suggestion try a cranking specific rod graphite or glass graphite composite even some of the newer glass rods are plenty sensitive and feel the difference for yourself.

Well you obviously prefer magnetic brakes that’s cool I prefer centrifugal brakes and I cast into the wind no problem no backlash whatsoever and a further cast.

Ok when you say cracked a rib cage do you mean to say that you had to have some type of medical attention after you’re fishing session or are you being sarcastic?

Anyone got a good budget baitcast reel they like?
The best or one of the best ? Because I’ll take a casitas over a fuego any day I don’t care if that fuego has an aluminum frame. I’m not saying it’s not one of the best but it’s certainly not the best. One of the best options for 100 reel is the slx and it’s evident as one tw bestsellers.

Benefits of micro guides?
I disagree ??♂️ However I do agree with the fact that micro guides are not for everyone for the specific reason that were stated above, in my case I’ve never had a problem with them I feel they do provide a better cast and more sensitivity and since 2014 having two of the lower end ghost series never broke a guide I did have one bend on me but I bent it back and that particular rod was sold but I still fish with the other one frequently with no problems.

Benefits of micro guides?
The added sensitivity comes from both reduction of weight and being able to place more guides further up the rod creating more contact points to the blank which overall transmits more sensitivity. For example the 7 foot sierras have 9+tip guides where as the 7 foot sierras micro guide rods have 13+tip guides.

Spinnerbait rod
I’m surprised you were able to throw spinner baits effectively on a medium rod. The abu Garcia vengeance 7 medium heavy fast is a good rod and although it’s rated as fast, it has a good tip for spinner baits.

Daiwa Tatula 100 vs. curado K
The reel test may be bias but his reviews are done pretty well ??♂️ He records every cast and I think he does a good job at the casting distances when he tests the reels.

Anyone got a good budget baitcast reel they like?
If I needed a reel and only had 100 bucks I would get the shimano SLX...
-
Benefits of micro guides?
Well it’s a controversial topic but I personally believe it gives you closer contact to the blank and gives you more sensitivity also it prevents line twists and also makes the rod lighter because of the less material needed for the micro guides. I wouldn’t buy a rod with micro guides if you’re a braid to leader type of fisherman because the guides might give you a problem at your knot connection.

Favorite 1.5 Shallow Diving Crank ?
The LC RC is discontinued but some have horded them I have no experience with them you might be talking about the lucky strike RC squarebill which is easily accessible at most Walmarts like the KVDs and they are very good baits very good I love em not my favorites but I have a bunch in different colors my favorite color that seems to work all the time anytime if they are on the crankbait bite is green copper shad I also like sunfish. The best LC square bills imo were the LC RTOs which are also discontinued but you can get them by the lot sometimes on eBay.

Daiwa Tatula 100 vs. curado K
Yeah he’s biased so am I but the spool is heavy and the reel doesn’t look as sharp as I thought it would he does good reviews as far as how long a lure cast which really doesn’t matter to me as far as bass fishing goes but the weight of the spools and the details is what I watch his videos for. Tackleadvisors is good but he is also biased tords diawa and I really enjoy his break downs.
