Okay Kansas peeps, need some advice. Just got my first bass boat (99' Nitro 884 Savage) and I am looking to try a different lake this weekend. Going for either smallmouth or largemouth bass. Should we go to: Perry Lake, Melvern, Coffey County, or La Cygne. Any advice would be much appreciated.

Hey guys, just bought a 1999 Nitro 884. Owner has some ancient XPS bank charger that doesn't even work anymore. The guy had the charger installed at the very back of the hull. It has a bunch of gunk on it, so I think that maybe water has gotten in there before and probably ruined it. So I am thinking that I should relocate the new Minn Kota MK315 charger maybe somewhere else. The boat is 18 feet long with a single console. Where is a good place to put that bank charger to stay away from water? Any advice would be much appreciated for a newbie bass boat owner!!!

Wow, this thread is awesome!!! I am also brand new to using the jig. What, if any, is the ideal rod/reel for jig fishing. Also what is the ideal line to use?

I agree with what both have said above. I just recently bought my first bass boat, but I spent probably around 2.5 months researching and gathering information on everything, especially the engines. Most of the local shops in and around Kansas City all said the same thing, the Force is a lower quality engine and parts can be hard to come by, and be more expensive as well. Good luck!

Hey guys, brand new to the forum here. Just bought my first bass boat which is a 1999 Nitro 884 Savage. Great deal on it, very low usage, great condition all around. Only problem is that it came with some very old Eagle finders that probably were bought the same year the boat was sold! I am wanting to upgrade, and I can get a deal on two particular Garmin finders: the Striker Plus 9sv or the echoMAP Chirp 92sv. Can anyone help me decide which one I should go with it?? Trying to learn everything on these new finders, no matter which brand, is exhausting. There is SO MUCH to go over and try to understand all of it, it gets my mind flustered a little. Any advice/help would be appreciated.
