  1. Welcome!! I’m not sure if you’ve found it but there is a KC area thread that is pretty active and from the little posting I’ve done everyone is really welcoming to new people Never mind, I hadn’t checked in awhile and I see you found it
  2. Generally speaking that’s not my style but I liked it so I’ll go with a 7
  3. I had some time to kill before work today so I went to Academy in Topeka to have a look around and I noticed that a bunch of rods were on sale, I saw abu vendettas, duckett ghosts, ethos, tourney pros, and I think the shimano clarus too. I just figured I’d let everyone know in case anyone was looking
  4. I have to make it out to La Cygne sometime, it and Wolf Creek are on my list for this winter if I get done with my boat project in time
  5. I have decided to take on my casting deck/storage project on my alumacraft v16. But as soon as that’s done and I have a day off that isn’t too windy I’m thinking I may hit up one of the power plant lakes here in Kansas
  6. Fisheries biologist?
  7. I just thought I would take the time to say that this thread caused me to go out and catch my very first jig fish yesterday. It wasn’t much but I caught it dragging a brown football head with a green pumpkin menace after I had located some active fish with a jerkbait
  8. Another successful trip to Lake Shawnee with a jerkbait today. 48-49 degree water temps. I probably caught 10 lm with 2 trout, one FAT 2.5 lb white bass, and a yellow perch mixed in
  9. I bought a sx this fall and so far it hasn’t let me down yet, I’ve been throwing squarebills and mid depth crankbaits with it and I’m pretty impressed with how far I’ve been able to throw lighter baits.
  10. I got a couple of Rapala bx brats from tackle warehouse and I did pretty well with them this fall, they seemed to come through cover pretty well to me. Other than that a KVD 1.0/1.5 in sexy shad, chartuse sexy shad, or green/Black always seems to do well.
  11. No it’s a different lake, Lake Shawnee is in Topeka
  12. Living 5 minutes from that lake it’s very good news, now I just need to get better at finding them lol
  13. I haven’t been finding the size that you have, my biggest one might have gone 3, but I am happy to hear that bigger ones are being found. I will say that every one I have caught has been fat and healthy looking though
  14. Thank you for the welcome Blue. I went again on Tuesday, and it wasn’t nearly as good as Friday but I still found a few that were willing to play along but I only got one picture, it’s telling me it’s too big to upload though. And I swear every drum in the lake does the same thing to me, I had one this summer that got an entire squarebill in its mouth to the point that all you could see was the bill sticking out.
  15. Hello everyone, I’ve been lurking for awhile now and I’ve finally decided to create an account. I went to Lake Shawnee both Tuesday and Friday of this week and like Blue’s video shows the jerkbait bite is on. A silver/black rapala rip stop did ok on Tuesday with a few more on a wacky rig, then Friday a bone colored shadow rap, and a elite blue? Shadow rap shad were all I used and it was without a doubt the best day I’ve ever had on Lake Shawnee. I have yet to catch a smallmouth out of that lake, but I did see my first one on Friday, but it turned around as soon as I saw it.
