  1. It looks like a grinnell to me. http://www.vernonweb.com/bowfin.htm
  2. You've got some fatties there. Those are some fine smallmouth. 8-) Nice pics, too.
  3. Mistakes were made and apparently very well documented (by you). I HIGHLY recommend that your friends contact an attorney to represent them. A case like this lends itself to becoming "an example" for others and maximum penalties are a very real possibility. Since by your own admission, all accused parties are "guilty as charged," your best course of action is to plead for mercy and enlist a lawyer to help make the best deal possible for them. Your friends need to hire an attorney.
  4. Catt, Somethings's wrong here. Are you fishing without a hook? : RoLo, I have to disagree with you on this one. The Senko ranks up there with a handful of baits/ lures that revolutionized fishing. The biggest knock on this bait is that it has made catching bass too easy. Now, with a little luck, anyone can win a local tournament. Cajun1977, Believe it or not, concentrated commentary use to be much worse. Now we have a Senko stickie and many questions are referred there or a member references another old thread. Still, SenkoResources.com does have a ring to it. 8-)
  5. You can lead a horse to water, but... Oh well, at least the girlfriend is on the right track! :
  6. Welcome aboard! My preference is a 6 1/2' or 7' Medium Power/ Fast Action rod and 2500 series reel.
  7. Mine is a St. Croix Avid AVS66MLF. This equipment is a lot of fun to fish and I HIGHLY recommend it for light lures and smaller fish. This is my white bass, small trout, crappie and "sometimes bass" rig. Although I don't consider this the right rod for bigger bass, I have caught 5 lb+ smallmouth on this gear.
  8. I fish #4 & #6 Hybrid Ultra Soft on spinning tackle and #12 on baitcasting equipment. Here are the specs: http://www.yo-zuri.com/Products/Prodline/HybridLineChart.htm
  9. I agree. I like both spinning and baitcast equipment equally well. For me, it's a matter of baits/ lures and technique. Finesse = spinning tackle; power fishing and fast retrieve = baitcasting gear. But that's just me. Every technique can be used with either type of equipment.
  10. Welcome aboard!
  11. A tube can be rigged with an inserted jig head or T-rigged, depending on the cover or structure you are fishing. The Fat Ika can be fished with the skirt towards the back, but the bait has a more unique action with the skirt up. The Fat Ika should be fished weightless on a 4/0 EWG Offset Worm Hook.
  12. Fishing soft plastics requires a rod rated at least Medium Power/ Fast or Extra Fast Action.
  13. Congratulations! 8-)
  14. Welcome aboard!
  15. I had read about the incident, but hadn't seen it. Man, that's too cool! :
  16. ** Moderator Note ** C'mon guys...Let's lighten up or just move on to another topic. Jeez... -Kent a.k.a. roadwarrior Global Moderator
  17. Great post! Nice fish and pics, too. 8-)
  18. WOW! Catt, Those are some impressive bass. Nice pics, too. 8-)
  19. Welcome aboard! The options for grubs are unlimited. You might take a look at the GYCB website to start with. The selection of size and color is extensive. Salt content and texture distinguish these baits from others. I have had some luck with their baits. www.baits.com
  20. With blue bird skies on the hottest days of the year, my best fishing is in the middle of the day (10:00 AM-3:00 PM) fishing soft plastics (6" Senko, Fat Ika and El Gordo tubes) slow, on structure in deeper water.
  21. Well, sometimes it's hard to be funny on the internet even when I try...For some of the members that have been around awhile, maybe there was a little implied humor...I fish GYCB soft plastics almost exclusively, am NOT sponsored, but promote them a A LOT and have submitted a couple of posts detailing why... I even experimented with some other brands and hand pours now and again... So, I'm NOT going to launch a diatribe against another knock-off. All soft plastics will catch some bass on occasion and there are several members that have tremendous success with the Tiki Stick. I'm not one of them. I quit using 5" Senkos because I caught too many fish. I now fish the 6" version to discourage smaller bass from biting. Sometimes it works. I think Wave Worms, Tiki Sticks and a lot of other knock-offs will work most of the time and especially when the bite is strong. GYCB Senkos might work better when the bite is tough, but they seem to work for me all the time. Is that more helpful?
  22. Hmm... Some of us would call your "Typical Stick Marsh/ Farm 13 Lady" our personal best! 8-)
