  1. One foot in front of the other my friend. We all are praying for you.
  2. This is an interesting thread. I had a Lowrance unit with a through hull transducer on a 21 Ft. Gulf Coast Low Side that used to work fine and suddenly seemed to go blind then come back. I finally fixed the problem by putting in an outside the hull transducer. Man they can sure mess with your head though trying to figure them out.
  3. Well, I have owned and used Hummingbird and Lowrance units while fishing saltwater. I found both to be good brands of units. I have known other more experienced users of electronics that prefer other brands some of those units cost several thousands of dollars each. What it comes down to in my limited experience is if you can understand how the unit works and if you can read what the screen is telling you. Personally I can't make heads or tails out of some very high priced brands units while others just make sense to me. While reviews are great you really would benefit by going somewhere that you can play with the various units and see their different settings. Make sure the unit you pick will work for you and the type of fishing you plan to do. Good luck and tight lines! ?

I have only actually carried semi-autos, Colt 1911's, Glock 21, and a Springfield Armory Service Model .45ACPs for social occasions loaded with 230grain Hydra-Shok HPs but in grizzly country I have carried a Ruger RedHawk 6" .44 Mag. and a Ruger Super RedHawk 7.5" .44Mag. loaded with 330gr. Hammerheads.
  5. Thank G_d you have recovered! Someone was watching over you. As someone who has had a near death experience I can say it changes your perspective on things. My short term memory still all these years later is not perfect bit I am blessed to be alive. We all have to appreciate today as tomorrow is not guaranteed. Prayers for you and yours!
  6. I hunt fish just as I did animals. I no longer hunt as I just watch now. I grew up tracking animals. I study fish's habits and needs then try to go where their needs are met offering what I think will temp them to feed. Patience and observation skills are always great skills as well as is map interpretation. I only compete with myself at my age at having fun. If I caught a new world's record of some species no one would ever know as I would release it not caring for all the character assassins out there that can't stand to see others succeed when they have not. To me it is just not worth it as not everyone is into notoriety.
  7. I now live North of L.A. so I am cheering for the Rams. I am not a fan of the "Patriots" for many reasons which I will not get into. They got to the super bowl so I will let it go at that. It is after all a game and some people get way to emotionally invested. Do I hope my team wins? Yes. Will I be emotionally devastated if they lose? No. I have way too many other things in life more important than who wins the super bowl. Enjoy the show! ?
  8. I still remember watching a weatherman giving his forecast of no measurable rain in the area over the last 24 hours when an employee of the station walked out on stage and handed the weatherman a note. He looked puzzled but opened the note and read it. It said, stick your head out the door, it is raining cats and dogs! ?
  9. Hi, Jeremy, I have relocated just south of lake Castaic in the Canyon Country part of Santa Clarita myself and have zero knowledge about the Lagoon but I am very interested in it myself. I'm an old retired fart that my wife convinced to relocate here to be near our youngest three grand-daughters. I grew up bass fishing but then turned to the "dark-side" by getting hooked on saltwater fishing while I was living on the Gulf Coast of Texas. By best fiend who was an American Indian and I used to "bow fish" for carp of lake spillways giving our fish to the poor back when we were teenagers that is my only experience with carp except knowing they get very big. I'll be looking for advice also especially since for the first time I find myself boat-less. Tight lines and best of luck! ?
  10. Greetings Yak Fishin', I used to have a Cobra Fish-N-Dive kayak back when my wife and I had our canoe & kayak resort in north Arkansas. I loved that yak but I sold it to a friend as I have sever arthritis now in my lower back. It just won't take what it used to as I get older. I used to talk with my wife about what I would build if I had the money and its pretty close to what Blue Sky came out with the exception I had the idea of putting one of the high end Minn Kota trolling motors on the front linked to an I-pilot Link Hummingbird with the GPS and Mega Imaging as I will be fishing lake Castaic's clear water and the Castaic Lagoon. Such a set-up would allow me hands free operation and to view the deep structure where the Big Bass and Stripers hide. I could run the chart plotting linked to the I-pilot and anchor function to hold me over deep structure; my Dream Rig! Since I have been in California it is the first time I have not owned my own boat and the doctors have taken almost all of our lifesavings just to stay alive. I really miss fishing as once upon a time I fished saltwater in the Gulf of Mexico several days a week and the South Fork of the Spring River for Smallmouth Bass after I retired and had the mom&pop resort on the river. I'm drying out and shriveling away it has been so long since I wetted a line.?
  11. I just saw these in Fishing University and I like the concept with a few small changes. I really like the fishing chair as I don't get around as I used to in my younger years. What do others think about this new fishing rig from Blue Sky Boatworks? It is called the 360 Angler see pic below. It has both foot pedal and electric drive options.
