  1. I've used fluoro for years now on bottom contact baits and a couple months ago I tried big game just to see if I would like it. Blew my mind how much more sensitive straight fluoro was. I had stayed on the lake after dark one day and wasnt able to watch my line like I normally do. Had a fish on at one point and never felt a thing whereas fluoro the majority of the time will send a jolt up the rod. Berkley 100% fluoro is a very strong, sensitive and shock resistant line and it isnt crazy expensive. It's a larger diameter line but is the strongest I've tried. I will say the less stretch marketing hype of fluoro is complete crap. It does stretch but is more dense than mono making it way more sensitive and being less visible in water is a bonus. That sufix advance line is one that in my mind would be a good alternative to mono and much cheaper than fluoro. I have some but havent fished it yet but have spooled some up and dragged baits along my rock driveway at my shop and it to me is more sensitive than regular mono. Can you still catch bass flip'n mono? Dang right you can but if you've gotten used to fluoro there's just no comparison.
  2. Any of yall upsized the hooks on rattlin rogues from 6's to 4's? Affect bouyancy any? Thanks
  3. "Quickest way to tie the FG knot" by salt strong on youtube is how I learned to tie this knot and its by far my favorite. Very easy once you get the hang of it.
  4. I was just recently quoted $159-$200.80 to ship a rod from La to Maine by both ups and fedex. Usps wouldnt ship it due to length. Total insanity. Bout hit the floor!
  5. More rods less tackle for me. I'd rather have multiple bottom baits and reaction types baits all rigged at once. In all honestly the same basic baits have caught bass forever. So much stuff out there to catch fishermen more so than fish. Believe me, me and my wallet speak ths truth.....lol.
  6. I use mostly 20 and 25lb test fluoro and 50-60lb braid but use different brands for different techniques. Some brands line diameter are much smaller than others. With the heavy line I'm looking for reaction strikes flip'n and I don't believe they pay that much attention to the line. Jason christy and Greg Hackney have proved this to be true over and over. Christie flips 25lb the majority of the time no matter the water clarity and the same goes for Hack with braid. Also the size fish in your particular fishery should play big in determining your line size imo. Around here there's no way I'd use less than 20lb flip'n and mostly use 25lb. At the same time if I were in a part of the country that simply didnt have alot of big bass that line size would probably be pretty overkill. Whatever works for you and gives you confidence roll with it. If it ain't broke don't fix it.
  7. I fish in wiley's and love em!
  8. Pad crashers and snagproof phat frogs are my favs. High hook up percentages with both. Phat frog is heavier but add BB's to pad crashers if needed.
  9. Hey A-Jay how are the skirts on the ones you picked up? The heavy cover jig has a much better skirt than the fluoro jig imo. Just did some skirt swap'n up at the shop tonight.
  10. Any of you fellas tried these yet? I picked up a few today and can't wait to try em and see how the screw in bait keeper works. More compact than the heavy cover hack jig.
  11. After reading this thread I just now watched last years classic footage from espn2(dvr) and there's no doubt Ike was fishing his line of rods in that tournament. He was using them while fishing finesse, carolina rigging, and pitching plastics shallow with them.
  12. Yes just curious of the total weight. I have 3 champion XP's(734c, 735c, 736c) along with a couple tatula flipn sticks and between those most of my flipn needs are covered. Have an itch to replace the 795 with more of a punching rod that can handle a 2oz weight with ease. Dont really have a true punchn set up.
  13. I'm in NW La.
  14. Hey guys new to the forum. Anyone know the weight of a dobyns champion extreme hp 795 flip? Thanks
