  1. So it would be 14 lb mono or 65 lb braid ? Or do I have that backwards. It’s about the diameter then
  2. Question has anyone looked at the black bass rods from st Croix ? St. Croix RodBlack BassBass-focused. Extensive. Progressive. Buy if you’re seeking a wide selection of technique-optimized high-performance bass rods with exceptional ergonomics and aesthetics at a great price.I just noticed the jump in the recommendations for line and I noticed a drastic jump. For instance the 7-2 mhm lure weight 3/8-7/8 oz they recommend 12-20 but then the 7-3 mhf lure weight 5/16-1 oz they recommend line recommendations is 14- all the way to 65 lb. ??? I don’t understand why so drastic increase. Can someone please explain.
  3. Hello thanks for asking. I haven’t got out yet to try it. But If it fishes as good as it feels and look watch out lol. I can’t believe how light it is. Like a feather
  4. Thanks I heard Dobyns are good rods also but I don’t think Cabela’s handles that one. Im trying to find out now if there is a way to differentiate mono from Fluor I have some on a spool but I forgot what it is
  5. I feel your pain. Honestly sometimes I think God hates me. I gone a whole season already
  6. I hope so thanks
  7. I wanted to get the black base series rods in a medium heavy moderate action so I went to bass pro website Cabela’s and seen a 7-4 medium heavy moderate. I got a good discount on it so I ordered it yesterday. Today I went to st Croix web site to farther check on specs and they don’t make a 7-4 mhm in carbon. They have a glass in 7-4 mhm but bass pros website does note list it as glass so I went to cancel and told them the issue and I was told that any order over 10 minutes can’t be canceled. Are justice system should be that fast. Anyway it looks like Im getting a glass rod I wanted a rod for chatter baits any opinions would greatly be appreciated thanks
  8. Thanks Im not out long so the balance i really don’t notice
  9. @Standard how do you like the glass rod from st Croix? Is it a good rod for chatterbaits ?
  10. I ended up getting the 201m I was worried about the amount of line it held. But now Of course I wish I got the 151 or the 70. Im trying to find a good composite rod for it thanks everyone
  11. Im thinking of getting a new reel but confused, so many to choose from. My goal for this reel is for throwing 1/2 oz or lighter chatter baits on a 7 ft -7-4 glass rod The reel is the curado 151 mgl I see a 151 m also , so I did a search on google for the difference between the mgl and the m. AI came up with this, Im going to paste it. Thanks Feel free to delete if I did something wrong by posting it Thanks The primary difference is generational: the Shimano Curado 151 MGL is the older 2021 model, while the Shimano Curado 151 M is the upgraded newer generation. (Note: The "151" designation simply means both are the left-handed versions of the 150-size reel). [1, 2, 3] Key Differences Spool Technology: The older 151 MGL features the second-generation MGL spool. The newer 151 M upgrades to the MGL Spool III. This newer design is narrower and thinner, reducing start-up inertia by roughly 15% to deliver even better distance and precision with light lures. [1, 2, 3, 4] Body Design & Ergonomics: The 151 M introduces a flatter, more compact, and more ergonomic frame compared to the older MGL model. It palms much more comfortably during long days on the water. [1, 2, 3] Side Plate Material: The 151 M utilizes a CI4+ carbon side plate, making the reel feel slightly lighter and better balanced in the hand. [1, 2] Refined Internals: The 151 M integrates SilentTune technology to reduce spool shaft vibration during casts, resulting in a quieter and smoother casting experience than the older 151 MGL. [1] Aesthetics: The older MGL has a distinct jet-black top plate, green side plates, and a heavily ported black spool. The 151 M features a sleek, unified matte cosmetics update.

Thanks Brad, do you think casting distance would be effected much between 30 lb braid and 50lb? I read somewere that a heaver braid will not dig in as much on baitcasters

I forgot to mention it is a bait caster, and I always tie a leader of floro about 2 ft long on the end. Thanks for the reply. I was trying to see if it effects the casting. The reel is a curado 71 hg. When I get snagged up its allways the leader that breaks I cant seem to cast with mono or floro on a baitcaster very well ,maybe just need more practice.
