  1. Bummer on Big Island Pond. The 20 feet from fishing docks or boats is kind of a no go for me if they enforce it. I don't think Robinson Pond has smallies. I have fished it a good amount and never seen one caught. Like redmexican5081 said, it's a pretty mediocre fishery. I only go there because its less than 5 minutes from my house so it's easy if I only have an hour or two after work. Anyone fish Great Pond in Kingston? I am trying to find some more places to fish within 30 minutes of Hudson and haven't ventured towards Kingston.
  2. Thanks and good to know! I am hoping that opens up by the weekend. Does anyone fish at Big Island Pond? It's $35 to get a key there to launch a boat and was wondering it was worth it.
  3. Hi All, Robinsons Pond in Hudson, NH opened up completely yesterday. Anyone know if Massabesic is open yet? Thank you!
  4. Hi All, I am looking at taking a trip down to the Santee lakes this March. How is the fishing mid March, specifically Lake Marion? I am from the Northeast so our lakes are still frozen during that time. Thank you.
  5. I went to Robinson Pond this past Sunday around noon to do some quick fishing before it rained. However, I was too late and it started raining right as I got there. It's only 5 minutes from my house so I decided to suck it up and stay until it started down pouring. Luckily, it cleared up after about 45 minutes. I have fished this pond a handful of times this year, but as you all warned me, it is a dink factory. Lots of 1lb bass. It started off the same way on Sunday, catching about 5 or so 1/2-1lbers. I was using a big swim jig to weed some of them out, but the smaller ones were still hitting it. I spent most of the day on a weedy flat around some deep water looking for any big fish. I had just caught a 1lber and said to my fiance that this place must not have any fish over 1lb. My next cast, I got hit almost right away and could tell it was a good fish from the fight. It felt like it could be in the 3-4lb range until I saw it's head for a second and knew it had to be at least 4 or 5lbs. I fought it for another 30 or so seconds and finally got it to the boat. It's whole body came up to the boat and I was pumped as it was one of the biggest fish I have ever seen! I knew it had to be 6-7lbs. I got it in the boat and it weighed in at 6.3lbs which was lighter than I thought it was. The fish was huge and could definitely support 7+ lbs. Hopefully, there are more of these in there to be caught!
  6. I haven't been there in 2 years, but the last time I was there I caught some good LM. I can't imagine they died off in the last 2 years especially if they had been putting chemicals in before that time. There are good size LM and SM in that pond.
  7. I used to fish the North Shore a lot so I put a few near Melrose and some worth making the trek to. Spot Pond - It is right next to Melrose and has good shore access. There are some really good fish in here, but unfortunately, the only way to put a kayak on it is to rent from the Spot Pond Boathouse which is pricey or just sneak one on. There are some nice little ponds to shore fish from in an industrial/apartment complex to the left of market street in Wakefield. Middleton Pond - It is farther from Melrose than the others, but has good shore fishing and some good fish in it. Lake Cochichewick - This is one of my favorite lakes in the area. Definitely use a kayak, but it has a lot of good fish in it. If you make the trek here, DM me and I will give you some good spots.
  8. Thank you Hiteck22. I think that was the ramp I was looking at on google maps. It looks really nice. I am probably going to head there after work today.
  9. @NH Bassin - Not yet, been catching them in transition areas still and struggling to get the real big ones to bite. I am thinking this week they should start to be in those patterns as the ponds I fish have been spawned out for a few weeks now. I see a lot of people fish the Nashua River. Where is the best place to launch a bass boat on it? I was looking online and saw the Mill Pond Boat Ramp and wanted to check that out. Also, does it have a lot of hidden rocks like the Mack? Thank you in advance.
  10. Massapoag is a good pond to fish. It has a nice ramp and I always do well there. They do gate off the ramp in July and August, but with a car topper, I am sure you could still find a way in.
  11. Thank you both for the info! That definitely helps. I will give the town a call to see what it costs and will probably try it out in the yak as well.
  12. Does anyone know if you still need to get a key and pay a fee to fish Big Island Pond in Derry/Atkinson? I found some things online that said you did, but they seem like they are from a few years ago. Also, is it worth it?
  13. It's been a tough spring. I don't think I have caught many fish on something other than a jig.
  14. Thanks for the info on Robinsons! Bummer it has gone down hill. A few of my favorite ponds have had similar issues which is a shame as it gets harder to find good places to fish. I'll probably try it a few times since it' so close and will definitely find that log. I'll let you know how I do.
  15. How'd you make out today? I ended up being lazy and didn't bring the boat up to NH. Seemed like the wind wasn't too bad today either.
  16. That is good to know as it saves me from driving all around, Thanks. I am hoping to get there around 10am and will be in the Nitro with my fiance and dog. I'm sure we'll see each other. Good luck!
  17. Thanks for the advice! I will definitely try that.
  18. Hey kroberts9, do you know if the Candia road boat ramp is open? I will probably see you there on Sunday.
  19. Thanks all for the additional feedback. I am ordering a pair of the bungees to try them on both sides. They are little easier to remove if I end up not liking them.
  20. Thank you all for the feedback. I was leaning towards the bungees so I think I'm going to start with those. The retractable ones look awesome, but I am nervous about cutting up my boat. I'll probably switch to those down the road.
  21. Hi All, I'm looking to add some rod straps to the deck of my boat this season. I was wondering what everyone prefers for type: the wide velcro style or the thin bungee style? Also, do you have them on both sides of the deck and if so, does it get crowded? Thanks!
  22. Thanks RMcD. Bummer on the pressure, but like you said it is fairly large. It does give a little more of a challenge too.
  23. Anyone heading out tomorrow? Looks like the only 50+ degree day we got on the horizon. Can't wait for warmer weather!
  24. How is Robinson Pond if you don't mind me asking? I am moving to Hudson at the end of the month and my house is about 5 minutes away.
  25. Your rant worked! Nice Fish! Yes, I park right off Harold Parker Rd near rt. 125 and they have an easy spot to launch your kayak. I'll definitely have to try that. I need to get out night fishing more this year.
