ethical killing?? (your thoughts)
ok the turtle thread got me thinkin about what me an my bro do every once in a while,,first off this is perfectly legal and is encouraged by the state,in the fields behind our hous e we occasionally go out and shoot black birds and we see it as ok to do. the reasons ive been told this is encouraged and why i do it are (1)blackbirds are key in spreeding many harmful viruses throughout the area (2)they are very overpopulated (3)ive been toldt hey are non native and considered a nuisence (4)i figure that if the state allows it regardless of time of year etc there must be good reason for it if it isnt listed above id like to hear what yall think about this redneckriot27

12 gauge v Snapping Turtle
i bet that thing is ALOT faster than you think, and it probobly could catch a bass, not an adult but a young stupid one or just slowly move up on them

12 gauge v Snapping Turtle
in my post earlier about the snake i thought i would ad that it wasnt killed just for the sake of killing it,as i have stated in many posts the pond is right in my cousins back yard and he had been seeing the snake alot and was already nervouse about it being near his two young daughters and after it had acted agressivly towards us before the incident, he had made up his mind to ahve us get him next time we saw it because he didnt want anyone (us or his family) being biten by it,,kinda goes along with fishingbuds post above

Fishing in Thunderstorms?
ok.first off fishing in a thunderstorm??!!!!...ive heard of fishin during the rain but i thinkt his is an incredibly bad idea. water + graphite + electricity = BAD,but when it rians or storms the pressure drops, insects become more active because the lower pressure makes flying easier (ever see the skitters or flys get bad before rain?) then one or both of two things happen (1) the bass move up to feed on the active insects at the surface (2)the bass begin to feed on baitfish feeding on the insects

Braid and Casting distance/wet reel question.
now is it just as unhealthy for a spinning reel as it is for a bait casting?,i ask this because part of my pond has a sandy shore and tonight while trying to unhook a fish my rod was propped on my knee but then fel into the sand and (twice) so i gave them a little dip,the reel is a brand new abu garcia cardinal and i have done it before with my shimano sahara and never had a problem...thanks

Gander Mountain Soft Plastic???
You've never been to Dicks then. They are the worst! Gander in Middletown, NY is getting there, but the bigger problem is the re-organization, or should I say disorganization of all the stock. For two years you could find things easily because of the logic of putting like-tackle together. Now things are separated and mixed up.Walmart may not keep stocked, but at least the stock is in the same place every time I go. I don't like to pay the shipping for cat. orders, but what choice? the one 30 minutes form here in salisbury maryland is always stocked and very well organized, idk bout the rest of their stores but ours is awsome

Bleeding/Injured fish
exactly..if they do die it wont destroy the local polulation and may in fact help,,also there are TONS of herrin and osprey around here that wouldnt mind a free meal here and there, not to mention the catfish
-
Illinois largemouth!
great fish and i know what you mean in delaware anything 4 an up is huge. BTW if that black patch on the top of her is one of the strange marks you mention it may have been from a bird such as an osprey or herrin if you have them in your area tryin to make a meal of him when he was smaller
-
Is this a Problem...
yea what he said ^^^^ lol,,,,just out of curiosity why did you think you had to be older?

Bleeding/Injured fish
GILL HOOKING IS NOT A DEATH SENTENCE!!!!!! i have a post floating around here somwere about a fish ive caught that had a gill ripped in haklf and it was healed up when i caught it and it definetly wasnt recent from the looks of it,also if ish a small pond and on my longer trips of about 7 hours ive never seen a fish float after ive gill hooked them FYI we usually hit each spot 2-3 times a day so the fish deffinetly doesnt die to fast if at all

finding weeds
when its windy go to the shore were the wind i blowing to.alot of the weeds that dont have roots will be blown over to that shore

Where are they all hiding?!?!
my only suggestion is go again, you cant base the population or size of the bass in a lake by just one outing,it takes time to get a pattern and find what they want, also there are days they will refuse to bite.i fish on a 5-10 acrea pond and have had days were weve been out for almost 8 hours and not caught a fish.condiering the size of this pond to that lake you can tell that somtimes the fish wont bite because i know the pond and the fish in that ponfd like the back of my hand and still get skunked its park of the sport and its called fishing not catchin
