  1. I am a believer that you do not need every color of lure. I feel like 2-4 colors is enough. So if I am using a jerkbait in a shad lake. I would think I should only need shad colors. With that being said should a black, blue, or purple back with silver sides be any different from each other? I am pretty sure I over think everything.
  2. I am located near Lake Harding in Alabama. I have used very few jerkbaits and have not been successful. I am just curious if anyone around the area of Lake Harding, Martin, Eufaula, West Point, etc. ever use jerkbaits successfully?
  3. So I did some fishing. I caught a 1.5 and missed one. That was my only excitement. Everyone was mainly trout fishing, and was doing well. I could have done the same. However, I just love bass fishing. I started with a popper not a single hit. Switched to a shakey head with nothing. So I grabbed a white spinner bait and seen a tree laid over in the water. First cast caught my only fish. Walked around some more made a random cast. Get a hit while I went to answer my phone. Stayed a little longer with no success.
  4. Same here I have been going there for the last 5 years. My father in law owns a cabin. However, its usually during Christmas. This will be my first time going where I can adventure out. I don't like the cold but I am not going to be miserable either.
  5. I am going to Bryson City September 3rd to the 6th. I want to fish. I have no access to a boat and will typically fish early morning. I have no clue on where to go, what to fish for, or even what to bring. I am staying near Nantahala Village. If anyone could give me some advice that would be great. Thank you all for your time.
  6. Thank you all for your inputs. I was considering a fiberglass boat. However, I fish a small lake on the Chattahoochee river. We go into the river a lot. In our area there is a lot of shallow areas so you defenitly have to be careful. I started fishing small tournaments. I have an old 40 Force on a Spectrum boat. Does fine, just starting to get annoying working on it. I want a bigger motor due to the tournaments sucks getting thrown around by a 115, 150, 200. So with that being said what about cutting through wake? Does one boat stand out more? I am not trying to run 70 mph. A good 50 mph is fine with me. So what maybe a 115 would do that? I know depending on boat size. I will also eventually start Fishing Eufaula, Guntersville, Weiss, Lake Martin.
  7. So I am 30 and I thank God I have an amazing dad. He taught me to love the outdoors. I hope I do half as good as he did. Here is my little boy on our first trip.
  8. So in the near future I will be purchasing a boat. I have looked into multiple boat makes and models. My price range is roughly 25k. Can anyone give advice on what boat you prefer and why? As of now I feel like I will go with a Tracker or Xpress. However, the Triton keeps catching my attention.
  9. In am in East Central Alabama. We have no smallies that I am aware of. Heard rumors (i assume are lies) of people catching some. Which I could be wrong. I will look into those as well. Thank you!
  10. A few years ago on Lake Harding (Alabama) my fishing buddy and I noticed some clouds and decided to fish anyways. We get about 2 miles from the boat ramp and started skipping docks. Well it started raining no lighting no thunder just rain. So of course we continued fishing. Well the wind starts picking up. My buddy says "where is everyone going in a hurry?" I look up and boats flying everywhere. One guy is waving his arms at us pointing back... I decided lets leave. We still had no clue what was going on. I thought maybe a school of frankein fish were attacking. Well we get back to the ramp load up. Instead of people standing around talking everyone was leaving. I get to my phone and my dad has called 20 plus times. I call him back after getting yelled at for not having my phone. He told me a tornado was near the lake. We were very fortunate that day God kept our ignorant butts safe.
  11. I just ordered it. Thank you.
  12. As a kid my dad and I would fish, hunt, watch wrestling. I also read wrestling autobiographies. Eddie Guerrero, and Shawn Michaels were both good books. Not a wrestling fan anymore but i do enjoy reading the lifes of the wrestlers from my child hood.
  13. Yeah, I will defenitly buy it. I am currently on night shift. When all the inmates go to sleep. We have down time between walking the halls. Thank you for the recommendation.
  14. It's just annoying passion lol. Imagine being in the Classic, your in first he is in second. Then you start hearing him yell. That would be worst than the rack of a pump shotgun. I listen to his podcast on my way to work.
  15. Yes it was. I enjoyed reading his story. We see what television shows us about anglers. Reading his book Ike imo wasn't any different then an avg Joe. I indeed recommend it.
  16. I have read Mike Iaconelli: Fishing on the Edge. I just ordered Jay Yelas: A Champion's Journey of Faith, Family, and Fishing. Any other autobiographies I should look into?
  17. I am an inexperience bass angler. I love going but with work, family, etc. Don't go often. I plan on going Saturday morning. Any advice on where to go once launched? Maybe baits? I have a shad color lipless tied on, white swim jig, shakey head june bug and a black and blue jig. I would be very thankful for any feedback.
  18. Looking for a few new fishing buddies. I don't really have someone to fish with. So if anyone wants to fish just let me know.
  19. Chambers County is a good lake. Its actually my favorite. Lee county lake can be good at times just small.
