  1. This isn't a solution, since the best was already posted, but I've heard mixed opinions. Do they really live if you cut out the hook and it eventually rusts and leaves the fish? Or are they stuck with a hook in their throat until death? Sorry for drifting off topic.
  2. I'd love to go to a few places: Canada, preferrably Knee Lake for eyes and pike South America, for peacock bass Lake El Salto, and take a guess what I'd fish for I also would like to do something I've never done, and may never do until I grow up. That is deep sea or just fishing flats in the ocean. I'd love to catch anything-tarpon, snook, red, shark, just any saltwater fish.
  3. I am from around Pittsburgh- North Huntingdon. I've fished Moraine a lot, and like it there. Another few good places are Loyalhanna Dam for pike, the three rivers for about anything, and Cranberry Glade. Also, I !HIGHLY! recmomend fishing Geneiva (sp?). That place is pure amazing. We catch anywhere from 1000-2000 crappie a day PER PERSON! Also, on the way into Geneiva, there is a bridge with a small waterfall. On the top, throw cutbait upstream for bowfin. Weve caught 10 pound bowfin in that area consistantly. There are also loads of bass-big bass. We've used aluminum boats with a trolling motor, or took the canoe. You don't even need a fishfinder. Launch your boat, and go to the far end. That is where we get a lot of crappie. Go back into the little tributaries surrounded by weeds for pike or bowfin. The possiblilties are endless, and hardly anyone fishes there. That is no fish story, and I would honestly take a trip to Geneiva instead of the great lakes.

Um I've been fishing since I was 4, and know the difference between a blue and a channel. I know every type of catfish, and it is VERY easy to extinguish a blue from a channel. Also, there aren't any blues in that pond. No problem though.

Well from experience I know catfish mainly rely on scent. They don't necessarily have to see, but I just think it is weird that the fish had NO SIGNS what-so-ever of eyes that were there in the past, or even having any eyes. That is weird though...catifish on a fly rod...must be fun!

I like www.fastuploads.com also. You don't have to sign up for any accounts.

Yes I will post more pics if I can get him again and clearer of how black it is and I'll also post pics of the very all over black one. I'll also try to post pics of the bass with the golf ball eye. And how you do that is, click the little photo icon on the YABBC tags toolbar where you write your message, and between the two end ] 's you paste the link of your picture.
  8. I agree. When I'm fishing for small bass in a lake or pond with bass not very big, and most likely in a canoe, I like a size 5-6 Rapala. Prefereably, the Floating Rapala.
  9. Wow! Thanks for the input, Glenn.
  10. Same here! At a farm pond owned by friends of mine's childhood friends, there are tons of little 13 inchers always willing to bite. If you see you're catching them on a certain lure in a certain spot, move to a different spot with a different lure or vise-versa. I actually like to fish for bigger bass, ESPECIALLY in the rain at that pond. It seems as if they become more active, being as all that oxygen is being added to the water. Just put up your hood and fish!
  11. I don't count casts, because fishing is for fun and you should just enjoy the gift of being on the water and maybe catching fish and spending a great day with your friends and/or loved ones. Sometimes when me and my friends fish, we count casts for about 5 minutes at the most just to see who can catch something first. If you're counting casts out of depression or wanting to prove someone wrong about the lake or just to simply depress yourself on not catching any fish, your not fishing, because you're not enjoying it at its fullest in my opinion.
  12. I personally think it should count. A fish is a fish is a fish. If most of you guys would have caught that fish, I guarantee most of you would argue for the record, simply because it is a fish, it's a record, and you caught it. If someone would put a bass on steroids, have it become a world record by far, and put it in a local lake around you that only a few people fish, again most of you would probably take a shot at it because it a fish. If you were in that guy's shoes, you would be thinking what I'm thinking. If you catch a fish, no matter where you get it, just so it is in water, everyone else had a fair shot at it. Someone is eventually going to get it, and it is like winning the lottery. Do you argue if someone wins the state lottery in Rhode Island just because it is small? No, because everyone in Rhode Island has a fair shot in it. Same with the fish, it was in the lake, and anyone could have caught it that fished the lake and I bet a ton of people fished there. No matter who caught it, they deserve it if they caught it and it was in the water (in my opinion).
  13. Lol. I'd have liked to watch that tourny on TV! The pond I've caught the weird catfish and the grass carp in (posted pictures), there are bass. The biggest one I've caught there was a 15 inch bass, again a mutant. It had an eye about the size of a golfball. The eye looked like a normal eye, no discoloration, but it was gigantic. That is the biggest bass in there because I've caught and tagged over 200 bass in there (it seems a small amount but the pond isn't even 100 yards in diameter). I've harvested a couple bass out of there (healthy ones), and let them free once they grew up a little bit. Most of the bass there are about 13 inches, but they fight like a 10 pounder and are really fun to catch! We would harvest more fish and have other people, but it is a private pond.

  15. I love the site also, JT. And I agree to, X Points are some of the best hooks I've used. I too wish that they had more of a selection though. Maybe it will hopefully come out SOMEDAY!
