Lake Jackson
Yep, they will hang tight to structure in deeper water, you have to throw the crank right over their nose so don't hesitate to hit the same spot like 30 times. I caught a 6 pounder out of there one day after breaking the ice at the put in. Rattle traps work well, c rigs too but fish it S L O W.

Lake Royal, Va info... anyone?
Lots of small bass in there. I've had a fish finder in there before. It is max 16' near the dam and not much structure at all other than what you can see. For best shore fishing park at the secondary lot (the one without a playground). Work along the dam on the right or go left and try to get to some of the less pressured falldowns along the bank.

Lake Jackson
Lake Jackson can be productive in the winter. The place is loaded with yellow perch so use those patterns to haul up the big boys.

Cedar Run off Aden Road
I fished that lake as a kid and spent a lot of time on that farm. It used to be owned by Dr. Eng. He died and his wife sold the place to developers. A lot of memories wiped out for me. Needless to say, I don't drive down Aden Rd. anymore. Oh yeah, if there is water in the creek back there you will find some decent smallies and lots of chubs.

Minnows!
Anything will work for catching them, some of the best baits are white bread and dry dogfood, even an empty trap is liable to be just as good. But the best thing in the world believe it or not is a little glowstick, the light is like a magnet for minnows. Always remember that it is generally illegal to use gamefish (bluegill, baby bass) as live bait so be careful because Ranger Rick loves giving out tickets for stuff like that. Of course it is usually perfectly legal to KILL the gamefish THEN use them as bait (go figure).
