Sdsc357, why do you suggest to not fill the braid all the way up?

I will be spooling up several 3000 size spinning reels here soon. I wanted to use mono on one and braid on the others to get a feel for what I like using best. These will be for general Bass Fishing, not technique specific. What lb. test would you recommend for each braid and mono? Thanks Ray

Sorry if my questions are pretty basic guys. I’m just starting up bass fishing again. I just bought the 3.8” Speed Shad from Bass Pro. What would be be the best size and/or brand weighted swimbait hooks for this size bait? Ill be fishing a stream for smallmouth Bass. The stream averages about 1’-2’ deep. With deeper spots scattered. The Bassman, that’s exactly how I’d describe it. It’s a “scuffing” sound. I tried 4 different Sedona Fi’s at Bass Pro today again. And all of them make that sound. I guess it’s just the way they are made.

Just wondering if anyone has had any problems like this before?

I just bought a brand new Sedona 3000 spinning reel and it’s fully functional and fine, it just seems when the spool is spinning and going up and down it makes more noise than I’d like it to. This is the second one I’ve checked out that sounded like this. Is this just the way they are, or is there some sort of oilling I can do to help it run smoother? Thankyou everyone for your suggestions and replies. I didn’t realize that about the pro fisherman just pushing what their sponsored by. Coming more from a Catfishing background I didn’t have to worry about that since most of the fisherman weren’t sponsored by anyone. Its COOL a number of you mentioned Berkeley Big Game, since that’s what I already use on most of my Catfishing outfits. ?? What lb. test would you recommend on a Shimano Sedona 3000 and 6’6” Medium Ugly Stik?

Just wondering what the most consistently trusted and recommended lines are? Thanks guys!
