When wading a stream or small river for smallmouth I’ve always waded down river. Should I be wading up river?

Niiiice! Thanks Man! I already ordered 2 of the: “Crawfish Orange Belly” and I’ll order the others as well. One thing i noticed though, is that in the BassPro photo, the “Old Matte Lite” looks Exactly like the “Crawfish Orange Belly”. I mean exactly. Maybe they made a photo error, or I’m just missing something? I’ll be getting the Pearl black backs as well.

I am still having a hard time getting myself to pull the trigger on this color. Shoot it’s been 25 years and I still haven’t bought it. I have Spooks and Puppy’s in a lot of different colors, but still not that one. I’m almost irked by the color. Does anyone have any good reasons why you would recommend that color? I’m assuming if a Smallmouth or Largemouth is hitting a topwater or Crankbait it is doing so because of sound, and action, and not because it looks like a bass. But then I don’t know much either.

Just bought a bunch Bps Speed Shads. They come in those hard plastic containers, that are going to take up too much room in my Tackle Box. How do you guys go about storing these types of swim Baits, like these Speed shads, keitechs, and rage swimmers? Must they be sealed in a ziplock or something? Thanks

This is going to sound really stupid. But totally true. I fish a pond out here in the Chi-burbs a lot because it’s got some nice size fish in it. There’s Largemouth, Carp, Big bulleads, and blugils in there, like the one mentioned by the OP. I was using every lure under the sun to catch the bass in there for a couple days. Nothing, not a bite. So I gave up on the bass and began fishing for the nice sized bullheads in there. My go to for bulleheads is raw hickory smoked bacon on a Jig Head. But on this day, to my suprise, I caught a 2.5 Largemouth on it! I couldn’t believe it. I never thought that would happen. After several more that day, and a few the next, it was no longer a coincidence. They wanted that bacon. My only theory is that they just loved the salt content in the bacon. Hey, and if they don’t want it on a particular day, I get to eat the rest! Its a Win Win. ?

Yeah the pond Largemouth have been tite lipped in these Chicago burbs for me too as of late. Gonna focus on ever smallmouth now. Canned Corn Kernals even better!
