  1. I caught a 21” Largemouth today that weighed 4.76lbs. This is in northern Illinois in a large pond. I just picked up bass fishing again 2 years ago. I hadn’t really fished for bass consistently since I was much younger. This is the biggest I’ve caught in these last two years. It seemed pretty nice to me, but is this size of a largemouth considered a decent size or no? Thanks much!
  2. This will be my first Kayak and will be used primarily fishing the Forest Preserve lakes around me. I will be fitting a small basic fish/depth finder to it. Thanks for any help!
  3. I see they are starting to sell these all off. I was thinking about buying one. For those who might have, or know of these reels, what do you think of them? Thanks!
  4. Ended up getting the Owner Mutu Light(NON offset) 3/0. Looks like a great fit. Thanks again!
  5. 15lb Power Pro V2 Onyx it is! I already have the 10lb V2 on my ML finesse set up, and love that braid. So just stuck with it in the 15lb for my M setup. Thanks for your help guys! ??
  6. Thanks greatly for that Hudson! ??
  7. I’m using 4” shiners for largemouth. And doing pretty good today, but lost a good number too. I’m thinking my hooks may have been just a tad small for the thick shiners. I was using a 3/0 gama drop shot hook. Maybe going to a larger Octopus hook would work better, what do you guys think?
  8. Thanks guys, I’ve narrowed it down to 15 or 20. Not really sure if there is much casting difference between the two.
  9. Hey everyone, I have a Sedona FI 3000, and I just replaced the felt drag washers to carbontex. When stacking the washers back in, the top washer threw me off. There is a rounded side and an indented side, and I don’t know which size faces up. My Shimano schematic doesn’t show a clear picture of it, and I can’t find anything info online. Anyone with a Shimano out there know which side faces up on that top washer? The photo here shows what the washer looks like. In these photos you can see each side of washer. Thanks!
  10. I have a “General Utility” use set up for largemouth. Its a 3000 spinning combo With a 6’6” medium power rod. What would be best general lb test for this application? Thankyou!
  11. It’s definitly not from a lack of food. This lake is packed full of anything they want to eat.
  12. I was completely surprised how easy it was to reel in the fish. Couple 18” bass didn’t put up a fight at all just kinda drifted in. It was like they wanted to eat but didn’t have the energy to do much.
  13. I live and fish in the Southwest Chicagoland suburbs. Today was fishing and caught a bunch of good sized largemouth, but a couple things I noticed is that they weren’t attacking my live shiners. Just sorta lazily swiping at them. Then, they didn’t fight with any energy at all. Kinda just reeled them in. And lastly, they were ALL Very skinny. Like their heads looked bigger than their bodies skinny. Might this be because they just came off the spawn? Thanks!
  14. Beautiful Bass Man!!! Thankyou everyone, you Rock! ??
  15. I see a lot of their stuff on Tackle Warehouse and they all look pretty good. I just don’t know a lot about the brand and if it’s solid tackle. Thanks much!
  16. Thanks greatly guys! This helps a bunch! ?? Now off to buying some.
  17. I know there is a ton of different scenarios. But this is for my 10 year old nephews. They are just fishing ponds mostly. Or aren’t casting far into deep lakes. Just seeing best size to get descent casting distance and get it to bottom of ponds small lakes. Thankyou
  18. From what i here, I’m not sure that matters so much with topwater. But I chose to go with the Green/Yellow cause that is the color that most resembles the leaped frogs by me. The bottom of the baits looks like their belly color also.
  19. Thanks greatly for that tip frogflogger! I’ll do that as soon as I receive them! ??
  20. Thanks much guys. I just ordered a couple of the middle sized ones to start out. In all my years of fishing I’ve never owned a frog lure. Lol! I just avoided thick weeds and just always fished the outer edges of lily pads or slop. Looks like things are about to change.
  21. Which size do you guys recommend most for general bass fishing? Thankyou?
  22. ? Holy Cow, that’s a Huge bait for a smallmouth!
  23. There are the normal drop shot hooks and then i see there are those spinning hooks, sometimes called spin shot hooks or gama's swivel shot. Ive never drop shotted before but want to start. Do you guys feel its much better to go with the swivel type hooks, or not really needed? Thankyou very much and have a good one all!
  24. Those drop shot hooks are the ones that spill out everytime.
