  1. If you have time spend a lot of time studying the lake online - looking at graphs and satellite images and marking points. Since you only have one day to pre fish cover as much water as you can. As you fish take notes what you find. Try and figure out where the fish are to the best of your ability. You can definitely take some presentations out of consideration depending on the stats - water temp, wind, season, weather, water clarity, etc. Hope this helps and don't forget even the smallest things can change your day on the water.

  3. Thanks, I just looked at that. Do you think I should put my reels on there or just sell them on eBay? I am definitely putting my rods on there because it is a hassle shipping rods on eBay.
  4. I have a lot of rods and reels that I do not use much anymore, and would like to sell them all and buy a few new combos. Does anyone know where I can trade in rods and reels for cash, store credit, etc even if I didn't buy it from that specific place? (Not a return policy.) I get a lot of my rods and reels off TW and eBay, so I don't know what to do. Help!
  5. Once I'm older I'd like to start at Okeechobee and make my ways north and finish with smallmouth in Mille Lacs. Then do the same thing for the other side of the country.
  6. Used my brand new Tournament MB 7 speed for the first time today. It was a fantastic first impression! Caught 4 decent sized fish and it held up perfectly and allowed me to get them in easily and quickly with the 7 speed. I had braid spooled on it with a mono backing. I have also used the Tatula 100 and personally prefer the MB. The MB is much more comfortable in the hand and casts smoother in my opinion. The only concern I have for you is that if you are new to baitcasting the MB might not be a perfect fit. My first baitcaster was an Abu Garcia blackmax. The MB takes some time to set up properly IMO. I am still recommending the MB for you, but just don't be surprised if you backlash or have problems at first with it. I would look at some informational videos on how to set it up to best fit your needs. Also since you are new to casting I would recommend mono line. Hope this helps!
  7. This is my earlier post and in the comments everyone said great things about the ZX, as well as the Speed Stick, so I am now comparing the two rods and collecting opinions from anyone who has owned one of these rods to help me make a final decision.
  8. Final round in my rod tournament. Looking for a jig rod to pair up with a Lew's Tournament MB Speed Spool left handed 7.5:1 gear ratio, spooled with braid. It's either the Cabela's Tournament ZX, which I played around with at my local Cabela's today, or the Lews Custom Speed Stick. These rods both come in the length, power, and action that I need. (7'3 heavy, fast action.) I have never held a speed stick, so I don't know what to expect. I have heard great things about both rods. Let me know your experience with these rods if you have ever owned one. Thanks!
  9. I thinking about a Lews speed stick
  10. Let me know your opinion on the rod if you have had one.
  11. I have been looking for a new reel, 7.5:1 or faster. Either the Lew's Tournament MB or the Shimano Casitas. I can get both on eBay for about the same price. I have never used Lew's reels. Let me know your opinion !
  12. I am looking for a jig rod over 7 feet preferably fast action with a lot of backbone. I have been looking at the Cabelas Tournament ZX casting rod. I have never used Cabela's house brand rods/reels, so i don't know what to expect. I have heard great things about this rod, my friends use them and love them. I have been comparing them to the Lews Custom Speed Stick 7'3 heavy, which is another rod I have been looking at. The only thing I am concerned about -- my friends who use ZX rods rely on Cabela's lifetime warranty. Since Bass Pro bought them they don't have lifetime warranty anymore. This is my only concern that they are not extremely durable (my buddy has broken 4 of them and gotten new ones with the warranty). Let me know your opinion on this rod!
  13. Can you tell me a little more about why you like the SLX and Fuego, and why you prefer it over the casitas.
  14. Thanks man I appreciate the info, nice catch btw thats a toad
  15. I am looking for a new reel. I have always liked shimano reels, I currently have the Caius and I love it. I have been intrigued by the casitas. I have heard its a great reel. Going to put it on a jig rod. Pls let me know your opinion!
  16. I have been looking at Lew's reels for a while, but have never owned one. I have always used Shimano and Abu reels. I have been looking at the Lew's Speed Spool LFS Series casting reel, along with the Speed Spool LFS. They are both 100 bucks, but what is the difference? I know the spool is silver on the series and black on the normal LFS, but is there anything mechanically different? I have also been looking at the Tournament MB Speed Spool. This one is 40 bucks more expensive on tackle warehouse, but I bet I could find it on eBay for a good price. Should I go with the LFS or LFS Series, or spend the extra bit and get the MB? Help me out!
  17. I just spooled up my new shimano reel with 15 pound Seaguar Red Label Fluorocarbon. This is my first time using fluoro, I have always been a braid man. I was wondering what is the best knot for fluorocarbon and any tips or info I should know. I have used the palomar knot for braid and it has been perfect for me, but I don't know if it will work for fluoro. I would also appreciate some info/tips on using fluorocarbon.
  18. I am currently on the market for a new jig rod. I want a heavy rod over 7 feet and with a lot of backbone, and preferably fast action. I am looking at the Lew's Custom Speed Stick casting rod which comes in a 7'3 heavy moderate fast action. I am also looking at the Lew's TP1 Speed Stick IM8 casting rod which comes in a 7'3 heavy fast action. I have done research and heard great things about both rods. The custom speed stick is 30 dollars more expensive on tackle warehouse, but I looked and I can get both at around the same price. Help!
