  1. I second this. For me I usually fish it high in the water column, but I don't have that much experience with spinnerbaits, as I don't fish them very often.
  2. I'm thinking about getting new tackle boxes and rearranging my tackle. Wondering what boxes y'all use. I currently have Plano Waterproof StowAway boxes. I have been looking at the new Plano Rustrictor Box, which I like.
  3. Fellow south Georgian I fish Eufaula and Seminole along with some smaller lakes and ponds. Also sometimes the ol Flint River.
  4. Thanks for the tips y'all. I was using braid and a dobyns fury rod. I don't think I was "clueless" as some jack*** on here would say, but I think I've concluded that they were just extremely aggressive, and I need to set the hook earlier and pay more attention overall.
  5. Yesterday my buddy and I were fishin a pond in his neighborhood. We had a great day, caught about 15 bass in 3 hours. The weirdest thing was that almost almost every fish we caughtgot gut hooked. I was using a texas rigged craw and he was using a trick worm. We were able to get all the hooks out except for 2 (rip). The only time they didn't get gut hooked was when my buddy was throwin a soft swimbait (but still texas rigged). Why did this happen? Was it something we did?
  6. Shearon Harris. My advice would be to go to south Georgia (I'm a little biased) or Florida. Lake Toho or Kissimmee. Good luck
  7. The fishing is awesome, I love the heat also.
  8. South/Central Georgia is awesome in the summer! 95+ degrees! I love it!
  9. I've hooked a few big ol gators on cranks and topwaters. They actually don't seem to fight as much as I thought they would for me. I try to get the lure back unless if it's a really ticked off one. It's a pain.
  10. I get a lot of my reels of eBay, so I am hoping for one too.
  11. I would recommend a Dobyns Fury or a Shimano SLX. They are both pretty inexpensive and great rods.
  12. The Avid X is probably my favorite $200 rod. It is truly amazing, I would highly recommend buying one. Another great rod is the Dobyns Champion, but it is $260. I have never used Megabass rods, I see that the Levantes is about $200, I might try to find one in-store to hold.
  13. What are y'alls opinion on "Favorite USA Fishing" rods? I was thinking about picking up a lunkerstv rod, but I am still on the fence. I have heard mixed reviews about them. Some say they are the best rods they've ever had, others say they are garbage. A few of my buddies have the defender and white bird, and they seem to like it. I have always used st croix and Dobyns rods, so I am curious to see how the Favorite rods will compare.
  14. What do y'all think is the best reel in the $200 price range? (concept A, concept Z, Abu revo stx, Daiwa tatula SV TWS, Lew's BB1, Super Duty series, tournament pro LFS, Shimano curado K, curado 70) ^There are more those are just the ones I can think of.
  15. I am doing some research to find a good place to plan a bass fishing trip to this summer. Looking to stay in the US this time (last two summers have been to the Amazon and Mexico). I have fished all around the south so maybe somewhere up north like Minnesota, somewhere to catch my first smallmouth. Maybe Mille Lacs or something. Or possible Clear Lake for some good largemouth in California. Y'all have any suggestions?
  16. I always use left handed reels. I am right handed, but it saves so much time not having to switch hands. Especially when I use a lot of high speed gear ratios and use a lot of techniques that require alertness.
  17. Does anyone have any experience with the Shimano SLX rod? I have an SLX reel and it's pretty good, its very similar to the Curado K. I have heard great things about the SLX rod. My "go-to" $100 rod is a Dobyns Fury, which I am in love with. I have heard some say that the SLX is a little better than the Fury, but I don't know. I haven't been able to hold an SLX yet, so I can't compare it to the Fury. If anyone has used the SLX please let me know.
  18. Hey man welcome! I'm relatively new here but have learned a lot. I'm from Georgia and currently in North Carolina.
  19. I personally like white (I think it is called pearl flash or something) for chatterbait trailers and underspins. For dirty water I would use the biospawn exoswim
  20. I have a dobyns fury and love it. I will probably go to Cabelas today and look at them both.
  21. Have any of yall ever used the st croix bass x or mojo bass casting rods? I am interested in St Croix, I have never used their rods but have heard good things about them. I am focused on the Bass X and Mojo Bass rods. I have heard mixed reviews about the Bass X. I have heard that it is an upgraded Mojo Bass, and I have heard that it is just a lower quality Mojo Bass. Have any of y'all used these rods and can tell me anything about them?
  22. Dude! Wildlife and Fisheries Management is the exact major I am interested in! I would love it if you could tell me some more information about this. Also I bet you are excited for the Bassmaster Classic this year on the Tennessee River.
  23. I am currently in high school and starting to think about what I want to do with my life. I plan to bass fish in college at NC State or Georgia (haven't decided yet), graduate in four years, possibly fish professionally if I can (MLF/FLW), and start a family. I would like to know some of y'all folks life stories (that involve fishing) so I can get some information. i.e. how did fishing play a role in your life, how did fishing affect your career and life course, etc.
  24. I need some more jigs. I am on a budget because I'm a broke highschooler, so I don't want to waste any money. What do y'all think are the best bass jig brands? I've always used Strike King, but I'm interested in the 6th Sense and Lunkerhunt jigs. I absolutely love 6th Sense's crankbaits, they are very good quality so I would assume their jigs are good also. Let me know your favorite jig brands and why.
