Thanks. But the thing that I was most hoping to hear is if anyone has any thoughts on easily removing their setup. I know I would prefer two (poss 3) separate units if they stayed up there all the time. But I have to remove it each time I finish fishing. So anyone have experience with an easily removed setup? Also, I can’t believe no one has given me a hard time about having “bowel” as opposed to “bow” lol! You guys are slipping! Good ol' autocorrect

Trying to decide between two 12” units or one big 16” (or bigger). The unusual requirement I have is that I need to remove the bowel unit all the time for family activities. So I need something that’s easily removed. I’ve always had a 12” and 7” unit at bow for livescope (12”) and mapping (7”) but wondering if I can simplify to just one graph. I’m just a little concerned about having to either bend down and tap on screen to switch back and forth to see waypoints or do a split screen and whether that will be an annoyance not having a dedicated livescope screen. Thoughts?

Here is my plan so far: Console: Garmin 8612xsv (side imaging, 2d and down imaging) and 8612 (mapping). Bow 8612 (livescope) and 1243xsv for mapping. I'll run the new garmin 63 kraken with the uhd transducer. Then have two 10' raptors. I'll get the GMS network and the 24xd gps. On the stern I'll run the GT8 and the GT56 transducers. I'll have to figure out some sort of mounting brackets for the two graphs at the bow so that they are removable...some sort of ram mount I assume. I assume I'll have 5 batteries...(3 12v lithiums, 1 X2 AGM group 31 12V for cranking battery, and 1 12V 100ah lithium house battery) I know several say that it's perfectly fine to run lithium as cranking battery, and obviously it's fine since countless people do it. But for me, at the end of the day, yamaha and skeeter both say that they don't recommend it and so for peace of mind...I'm going to stick with AGM. Thoughts on this setup and suggestions for charging the system? Thanks

What would you put on your boat if you were building one from new? I am looking for exact models and system flow. I am thinking a kraken for a tm since it will be used in salt water as well. Looking at 3 or 4 graphs all 12". Can't decide if I want two 12" or one 16" at the console. Will have two 12" graphs at the bow. So what all would you need/get? transducers, tm, graphs, livescope.... Have always had humminbird so new to garmin. What would you need for being able to tell depth and possibly bait at speed, mega Side imaging, mega DI, livescope and good gps. Any help? I need to order this stuff in the next few weeks. Would like solix/apex level with touch screen. Any thoughts? Thanks

I was referring to Garmin livescope. LOL yeh, I hate clutter and all those wires gives me anxiety. But if the 360 is worth it, I'll try to make it work.

I think my biggest challenge will be deciding what to do at the bow. This will be for a bay boat so I will have to design most of it myself. Will have a garmin kraken trolling motor most likely. Last boat I felt like I was always battling with cords (various transducers) so want to make this as clean as possible. So trying to decide what's the best way to do that while also getting whatever tech I need. Has there been progress in having livescope and mega360 together and having it work and look clean?

If you were building a bass/bay boat with room for two 12" units at the helm...which setup would you go with? Garmin, Lowrance, Humminbird...? I have always ran humminbird since I do more bass fishing but am leaning toward garmin. Recently I have read about quite a few quality control issues with Garmin, but maybe that's everyone these days. Was thinking about running two units at the helm and one or two (livescope and mapping) at the bow. Really just looking for your favorite setup and why. I know there's a lot of variables that go into selecting a setup and a lot are specific to the needs of boater, but just thought it would be interesting to hear what your favorite is and why. If money wasn't an issue and you were just setting up your dream boat (within reason lol). Will probably have the new Garmin Kraken trolling motor and raptor anchors. Thanks!

What jigs are you usually throwing? Casting, pitching, football? Combo? Just curious what your main one is. I assume it depends on what structure/cover you’re fishing…but just wondered what you primarily use. Favorite worm?

Just curious, which technique has been the most productive for you. I prefer throwing jigs, but seems like the Carolina rig has had more consistent results. Just not much fun throwing it ha. What do you prefer?

Just curious what your favorite way of finding fish is, right after spawn season. Do you work your way out from the. Asks of coves, go straight to secondary points, look for baitfish first…etc. just love hearing everyone’s methods. Thanks

Thank you all for your responses. I think I’m going to stick with the fishing’ fool knot for now. Also been pretty happy with the crazy Alberto. Going to give these two a try for awhile. Also use the palomar when not using a leader.

lol I hear ya! plus you want to keep those leaders as long as you can so you don't have to retie...so having a lot of wasted line drives me crazy. thanks for the feedback

That’s a cool knot! I’ll have to try it. I’m there with you that I don’t like the three tag ends haha well…as I already mentioned that I wondered if it had a cooler name like San Diego jam…so didn’t want to throw “fool” into it lol

Sorry…I meant double line uni knot where you have two lines through the eye.

Anyone use the uni knot? I’ve been trying tons of knots over the years and after lots of trials and also watching others do testing, it seems the uni to be one of the top. But I never hear anyone using it much. I wonder if it had a cooler name like the San Diego Jam knot…ppl would use it more lol. Seriously though, anyone had issues with this knot in the past? It’s just a super simple knot to tie so less room for error and it seems to do well in most strength tests. No it’s not 100% but seems close. And if you need that 100% then the double uni seems to be the ticket. Thanks for your thoughts! And happy Easter!

I understand what you are saying. But if you read my initial post…I was saying that I know everyone (as you said) says that you have to keep moving to find active fish…but at what point do you say…”Hey, maybe I need to slow down and it’s just going to be a shakyhead or Texas rig kind of day”? I’m all for going fast…but if you blank at the end of a full day of cranking…was it successful? A lot of good responses in this thread about how to determine the answer to that question. I do agree that it’s good to keep moving, but there are a lot of tournaments won on a shakyhead or a jig and I bet there were those in that tournament that kept going fast and just missed the deal for that day. Thoughts?

Yeh mono definitely a good possibility. That much stretch drives me nuts tho…fluoro has a little stretch which I like and have gotten use to. Is there a copoly that floats?
