  1. It sinks…so wouldn’t make a good topwater line. That’s what I was asking
  2. I think I get it all figured out and then I remember topwater (poppers, walking…). Those rods are also pulling double duty as shallow crank and jerkbait rods. So this brings the dilemma again…I had decided I like straight fluoro for shallow and jerk baits, but don’t want that for topwater. Anyone else run into this? I guess my options are: straight copoly or mono, braid to mono, or swap reels when switching techniques. What are your thoughts?
  3. Yeh I’m amazed at how good some people can locate and see them! I’m getting old and just can’t see as good as some I guess! Kinda cool to see them though.
  4. I know spawn fishing can be a touchy subject to some. But i just wanted to get your feedback. I know not all bass spawn at the same time…and so you can either bed fish or go after those that are pre/post spawn. So for those that have no problem fishing both, which have you found to be more productive? Do you find you can locate and trigger bed fish easier or have you found that a waste of time and go after the others? Thanks!
  5. Cool thanks. Had a gc someone gave me for bps. So ordered smackdown, 131 and x8 grand..to give a try.
  6. Thank you!! Couple questions. On the braid, are you using the dark green or a more visible high res color? And second, why copoly over mono? and what copoly and fluoro you using? thanks
  7. Thank you! Are you using dark green or do you use more hi-viz for cranking?
  8. Thanks! mind sharing what particular line (brand etc) you go with on each? thanks
  9. Cool. Anyone using any less common stuff (eg Sunline shooter Defier, 832/ 831 braid, suffix advance...)? Techniques i'm really interested in: Crank-shallow, mid, deep lipless swimjig chatterbait bottom contact (fb jig, trw, wobblehead..) spinnerbait a-rig Some really swear braid makes a ton of noise coming through the water...but also a ton of people with great results cranking straight braid. Curious if # carrier/strand matters...
  10. Ok...so I somehow find something different to obsess about each week when it comes to fishing lol. Amazing how that is! Just when you find the answer to what. you were looking for...something else pops into your head and leads you down another rabbit hole! So this weeks question is...what line do you use for each technique? I've been using powerpro braid to leader for a few years now but didn't label very well, and so not sure on some reels what line is on there. And have found that I enjoy straight fluoro for some techniques. I ordered a few more reels...and it got me thinking that I'm going to re-do all of my reels with new line and get a good system going. So do you use braid/fluoro/mono for a particular technique? Mind sharing which brand and strength and extra bonus points if you share why. I was trying to read all the posts I could and there's just soo much contradictory stuff out there. As always, I'm not looking for anyone to tell me what I should use...just want to hear what you have chosen for your system.
  11. Are you guys using braid for cranking? Trying to figure out which braid:4,8, or 12...is better for deep cranking (if one wants to use braid for cranking). Thanks!
  12. Great feedback! Thank you! Do you use straight braid or do you use a leader for deep divers? thanks
  13. Thanks Glen. Mind sharing what your reasons are for choosing that setup?
  14. Why do y’all have to make things so difficult lol! Just when one of you makes a great argument for fc and I’ve convinced myself to go fc…someone else makes a great case for braid to leader lol. I’ve used both and I like throwing fc better probably but I do agree braid has more feel and control. There’s pros and cons to both. I think I’m leaning toward fc just for the fact of depth and no connection knot. But idk
  15. Mind if I ask, why use braid then? I'm not trying to question your decision making. Honestly just want to hear why you like having braid as your main line if you are running that long of a leader. Thanks
  16. Thank you all! Really looking more for the “why” you choose what you choose. Thanks! Thanks! Can you share why you choose that setup? Thanks
  17. Been fishing for a little while and I got caught up a few years ago with doing braid to leader for everything. Now I'm switching to a variety...depending on the technique. So just curious what you all use for cranking? I've listened to lots of "experts" online lol...Lord knows they know a ton more than me though. I have heard Fritz uses braid for cranking, heard most say they use fluoro for obvious reasons (clarity, less noise, depth...) , and heard tacticalbassin talk about using both :fluoro for general cranking and then braid to leader if they are on a bite where the bass are on a big reaction bite where they need the bait to stop and start with precision. So after all that, what do you use and why? Thanks!!
  18. I didn't get to watch any of the broadcast...were they catching them on the lower portion near the dam, or up the river near the state park, or mid lake? Or just all over?
  19. Cool thanks! yeh I am mainly wanting to see if most are using spinning or casting. I was watching redcrest this past weekend and several were throwing wacky rigs. And there was a combo of spinning and casting there as well
  20. Is there any place to see where on the lake the guys are at? Just curious if most are fishing up lake or down. thanks
  21. Thanks for the feedback! Very interesting! Can you compare casting vs spinning?
  22. Do you have a dedicated weightless wacky senko rod? If so, what rod are you using? Spinning or Casting? Even if it's not dedicated...what rod do you prefer to throw wacky senkos on? I've always used a spinning setup...but slowly thinking about switching to casting. thanks
  23. Great explanation! Thank you Yeh, looking back on it...that's the one bait (texas rig worm) that I didn't throw, that I probably should have. I need to get better at the TR...it's produced for me in the past...I guess I just got sucked into a jig obsession.
