Give me a couple Garmin Panoptix-capable units to research
Also, I would get a dedicated battery just for the livescope. It really uses a lot more than a regular finder.

Give me a couple Garmin Panoptix-capable units to research
I have the 106sv which is UHD dedicated for my livescope. I really like it. I wouldn’t want anything smaller. I have the 93sv for all my other sonar options on the back transducer. The 106 is clearer and I think being a bigger screen helps. Get the biggest you can afford.

Chickamauga Trip Questions
I have off work on March 28th for a week and was thinking of taking my boat to Lake Chickamauga near Dayton. I have never been there before and had some questions to see if anyone could help maximize my time there. I was going to start in Mud Creek just above Dayton (we plan on lodging near Dayton) but I really have no idea where to go or what to look for. I live in MD and am familiar with the Upper Chesapeake and Lower Potomac but know absolutely nothing about Chickamauga other that it's a good fishery. -Is this even a good time of year to fish there? -What are average water temps that time of year? -Will the bass be in prespawn yet? -What are some good locations to go to that time of year? Not exact locations but maybe some creeks or general areas. Any tips or locations you guys can give would be helpful. I'll probably only fish for 3-4 days so I don't have time to explore too much and if anyone go point me in the right direction that would be awesome. Jimmy

cleaning cork handles
Thanks bassholes! I never would have considered the magic eraser. I wish I would have posted this before I placed my order at TW so I could have added the U-40 Cork Sealer, it's 1/3 of the price on Amazon.

cleaning cork handles
Does anyone clean their cork handles? If you do what is your process and what products do you use? I was thinking of using oxyclean since it isn't too harsh but I don't want to eff up anything. Mine are looking kinda dirty and could use a good cleaning if it's even possible.

Charging an Everstart Maxx 29DC Marine battery
I completely agree about the smart charger. I used the type of charger you have and always had problems with batteries going bad or not charging fully. Bite the bullet and get a smart charger. If you only have 1 battery I would recommend the NOCO Genius. It can charge all types of batteries then goes into trickle mode when it's done. I had the G7200 (which can also charge 24v) but I don't think they make it anymore but with some searching you can find it for around $100. Otherwise get any NOCO to suit your needs.

Delimma
I’ve caught more fish bc of my trolling motor. I have the Ulterra, best thing I’ve ever purchased. I know everyone will say get the Ultrex but I’ve been on several boats with the Ultrex and I prefer having the Ulterra. Auto stow and deploy plus you can raise the motor height in the water with a remote when it gets shallow or rocky. Ultrex folks have to yank the entire motor out quickly by hand to adjust while I can do that just as fast from anywhere in the boat with the touch of a button. I don’t know why everyone says Ultrex. Get the 36v if you can. I’ve had the 24v, the battery lasts longer and you’ll get about 20% more speed.

Power switch for Talons
Thanks for the responses. I was hoping there would be a small switch out there that I could mount to the console for just the talons but it doesn't seem that there is. I found some on amazon that are rated at 30 amps but I don't trust the reviews.

Power switch for Talons
I put two talons on my boat but have not installed a power cutoff switch yet (talons have a constant draw). So far I've been just disconnecting the fuses which is silly. What are some options that you guys have been using for switches? I want to just put something on the console to turn on/off when I get into the boat? I'm not sure of what amp rating the switch needs to be though, I get it's 12v but what should the amp draw be (30 I think)? I found this so far but it seems bulky https://www.amazon.com/Marine-Battery-Disconnect-Switch-Isolator/dp/B00EBQOKEQ/ref=sr_1_43?ie=UTF8&qid=1526489533&sr=8-43&keywords=electrical+disconnect+switch#customerReviews This is more what I'm looking for, smaller but I think the amps are too low. Rated for 5 amps. https://www.amazon.com/APIELE-Latching-Button-Switch-Symbol/dp/B08N4CBYLH/ref=sr_1_11_sspa?dchild=1&keywords=12v%2Bpower%2Bswitch&qid=1610491449&sr=8-11-spons&spLa=ZW5jcnlwdGVkUXVhbGlmaWVyPUFLMjJNVTdOSE1DNE0mZW5jcnlwdGVkSWQ9QTA5NzcxMjA2MVNGSjMxMTFLN1QmZW5jcnlwdGVkQWRJZD1BMTA0NTY2NDM5NEYzWUxCMkxESDUmd2lkZ2V0TmFtZT1zcF9tdGYmYWN0aW9uPWNsaWNrUmVkaXJlY3QmZG9Ob3RMb2dDbGljaz10cnVl&th=1

ALX Enox vs St Croix LegendX comparison
I wanted to give a review here for anyone thinking of either of these rods. I just purchased the ALX Enox and prior was curious how it would do compared to the St.Croix Legend X I've been using all summer. I live in Maryland and fish about 3x a week and would consider myself a slightly above average fisherman. Here are the rod specs, both casting rods: ALX Enox Medium Heavy 1/4-7/8 oz lure, 7'1" $320 St. Croix Legend X: Medium 1/4-5/8 oz lure, 6'10" $430 While not exactly the same rod, they are fairly close in specs. Both rods had a Shimano Curado 70 reel with the same Invizx line. I took them out and fished only these two rods for several hours switching every 10 casts or so. I went to the Upper Potomac and fished rocky shorelines and docks. I used the same lure on both rods also, a tube on a 1/4 oz jig. I've been using the Legend X all summer and am fairly familiar with the rod specifically with lure selection so the Enox was brand new to me. For starters, both rods are great. Both very light and versatile. I caught the same amount of fish on both rods and I would say they felt very similar in my hand and had very similar characteristics while catching fish and the sensitivity to bottom structure. When it came to casting, I preferred the feel of the Enox but only by a slight margin. It was slightly smoother and accuracy was the same. When it came to pitching docks, if I were pitching along side a dock (parallel), the rods were the same. If I were trying to pitch up under docks, I was doing better with the Enox. I believe that was due to M vs MH though and not really the rod. So in the end, if you are wondering if the Enox is a good as the Legend X, I would say yes, definitely. If anything maybe slightly better. Here is what I would think moving forward, if I were going to choose 1 rod over the other I would get the Enox because is is $110 cheaper. The next day I fished both rods with the same lures but different reels. On the Legend X I had the Shimano Curado 70 which I've had on there all summer, on the Enox I put a Shimano Aldebaran 31 MGL (Japanese versions of the 51 MGL). Here is where the rods separated from one another. The Enox came alive! It was all in the Aldebaran (which I was using braid and a leader). The Enox was lighter due to the reel and I could pitch under docks like I've never been able to before. With the same reels, the rods are basically the same but with the Aldebaran against the Curado it was night and day. Hands down the best set up I own. I did a lot of research before purchasing the Enox and even spoke to Alex the owner of the company and felt confident that it would be a good rod and man it's awesome with the Aldebaran. Here is my final thought if I were to get another rod/reel: I would buy the less expensive Enox b/c it's almost identical to the Legend X and pay up for the Aldebaran any day of the week. In the end my LegendX/Curado setup costs the same as the Enox/Aldebaran set up b/c I purchased the Aldebaran from Japan on eBay but the performance definitely goes to the Enox/Aldebaran. If anyone was wondering where the Enox stacks up against competitors, you now have a good base line. I hope this helps someone making a decision.

Shimano Aldebran 31 vs 51 line capacity
Do you notice any difference in those reels with line capacity? Do you feel the 30 is too small of a capacity? When you cast the 30 as far as you can how much line do you think is left on the reel? I just don't want a reel that spools on every cast.

Shimano Aldebran 31 vs 51 line capacity
I want to get an Aldebaran 51 reel but have found some deals on an Aldebaran 31. From everything I read, a 31 is supposed to hold less line but I can't figure out how much less. Aldebaran 51 specs: mono lb/capacity 8/85 10/75 12/65 (supposed to be a 9.3 cubic cm spool) Aldebaran 31 specs: mono lb/capacity 8/100 10/90 12/65 (supposed to be a 6.3 cubic cm spool) A.) why are they the same at 12lb if they are different at 8lb and 10lb B.) why does all my research yield the same data when the 31 is supposed to hold less from everywhere I read? C.) does it really matter and am I splitting hairs here?

Looking for high end rod recommendations
From my experience, just get the rod you want, the NRX. It's just money, you can make more. Otherwise you'll be constantly trying to compare whatever you get to the NRX and if you don't get an NRX you'll be always wondering what if....(your kids can pay for their own college lol). I have the St. Croix LTB and the Lengend X. IMO, they aren't the same as the NRX. But is the NRX worth the extra money? Not to me. I have used the NRX's and yes they are awesome but to be honest I think it's also because of the reel selection. The NRX's I've used all have Shimano Aldebarans on them and my St Croixs have Shimano Curado 70's on them. The reel adds to the difference also. I also made the mistake of using a Shimano GL Conquest w/ an Aldebaran, what a mistake that was, it's even better than an NRX. Yes, it is awesome but no chance I'm spending over $1k for a fishing rod/reel. Long story short, we only get one go round at this game called life. Just get what you want instead of trying to save money and hope it's close enough.

ALX Enox vs St Croix Legends
So if I'm hearing everyone correctly: -the newer Enox rods are better than years past. -the Zolo is between at Legend Tournament and a Legend X -good company, good rods Where does that place the 2020 Enox? Above a Legend X or right there with it. I feel confident in saying it is not as good as a Shimano Conquest right? I'm wanting to use the same lures as I do on a Medium Legend X. Chatterbaits, jerkbaits, wacky rigs, creature baits...nothing too big so anything in the 1/4-7/8oz range. I know there is no 1 size fits all rod but I kinda use my Legend X for these applications and it's fine. I feel the Enox Decoy matches this description.

ALX Enox vs St Croix Legends
I am currently looking at getting an ALX Enox Decoy (or Hunch) casting rod. I currently have a St. Croix Legend Tournament Bass and St. Croix Legend X (both casters). Can anyone comment on the ALX Enox? Possibly compare it to my current St. Croix rods if you've had any experience with St. Croix. Where do you think it would stack up? For a bonus, I used a Shimano GL Conquest with an Aldebaran today. No chance am I spending that much on a set up but where would an ALX Enox compare here? I was probably going to match up the ALX Enox with either a Shimano Curado 70 or a Shimano Aldebaran (If can afford it). Any comments here would also be appreciated (kinda a double bonus). Okay, thanks folks!!!

24 to 36 volt battery question
Thanks for the tips. ?

36v chargers
Thanks. I’m not sure how the batteries can be wired together in series but then charged individually but if it works it works. My degree in mathematics should mean I understand the engineering but sadly I must have missed that class.

12 volt battery charger recommendations
I have a NoCo Genius G7200. It works great. It can do multiple types of batteries and can also charge 24v. There is no thinking, plug it in, put it on battery and let it do what it does. When battery is charged it goes to a trickle. About $100

36v chargers
I’m about to upgrade trolling motors to a 36v system. I’m confused on how the 3 bank chargers work. Can you school me on how they work? The Dual Pro 3 bank hooks up to each battery Battery with 3 sets of leads but does that mean I have to first disconnect the batteries from each other so it’s not 36v before I charge them??? How are they set up? Does the means it charges each battery independently as a 12v? NoCo makes the GX3626 which is a 36v charger. The batteries stay hooked up together to form 36v and the NoCo has 1 pos lead at battery one and 1 neg lead at battery 3 and I assume charges all 3 together as 1 battery. How long will that take to charge the 3 batteries say at 50%? Is this even a good charger for 36v???

24 to 36 volt battery question
I am planning a getting a new Ulterra 36v to replace my current 24v. Currently I have 2 Cabelas AGM 30h batteries that are 1.5 years old, so I will need to get one more battery to make it 3 total. Cabelas doesn't make that battery anymore but BassPro makes a group 30 battery with the same specs (I think its just a replacement for the Cabelas 30h). Can I just add a third brand new battery to my two old AGM batteries? I really don't want to replace and buy 3 new if I don't have to. Also, another factor to that equation is when reading the reviews of the Cabelas AGM 30h batteries. All of the 1-2 star ratings say that battery failed just around the 2 year mark and they were past the warranty. The 2 batteries I have seem to have a lot of battery acid dust around the top and sides. Not sure how when they are sealed batteries. Could this be an indication of a looming failure thus I should go ahead and get 3 brand new batteries anyways or try to return the old batteries for some type of credit before the warranty expires? Lastly, if I have to get 3 new AGM batteries, what are some good ones to consider? The BassPro AGM's have no user ratings. THANKS!!!

Bass Pro Spring Sale
Thanks for the links! I actually don't think the rod trade in program is that good of a deal. If you get their emails, they give you 10% off on a random day of the week. The program is slightly more than 10% especially when you go up in price and you're out an old fishing rod. If you paid money for that rod it's a wash in the end. For example, I bought a new St. Croix last month for $440 and with 10% off I saved $44, didn't have to drive an hour, got free shipping plus didn't have to give up a rod. With the trade in program I'd be saving $50, be out a rod and drive several hours.

Seadek vs Aquatraction
I’m getting a boat built and am trying to figure what flooring I wanted to put in. I’ve seen Seadek in person on a boat and recently heard about Aquatraction. All I know is Seadek is a lot more expensive. Anyone have any experiences with both products or either? I don’t mind paying up for Seadek but if they’re basically the same product obviously the price is the tie breaker. Any info or thoughts are appreciated.

Bass Pro Spring Sale
Does anyone know when BP has their spring fishing sale? Last year someone posted the digital flyer here before it came in the mail. That would be great if someone had it again for this year.

Spool getting low
Thanks. I would’ve never thought of using cheap backing, that’s a great idea going with a different color also.

Spool getting low
What do you guys do when your running out of line on a spool? I have flouro on my baitcaster and it’s now half full. It’s not time to add line yet but what do you do when it’s getting close? Tie new line to the existing line or just pull it all off and start fresh? Seems like a waste of line to just toss it out unless you’re emptying the spool each cast.
