Carp has gone shallow, Bass are gone?
Wait until you hook into a monster carp by accident. It took me 30 mins to reel one in on 12lb test and a medium rod. I didn't weigh it but it had to be around a 25-30lb fish. I don't know how the line or rod didn't break. The first 5 mins I was just along for the ride peeling drag, I had to chase it down with the trolling motor.

Shimano Aldebaran MGL 50/51 and Shimano Aldebaran MGL 30/31 Question
I believe the spools are different but the reel itself is the same. I want to say the JDM version 30/31 may hold a little less line. I have the JDM version (purchased b/c it was cheaper) and can't spool it when launching a long cast so you're probably fine with either if that is what you were wondering.

Grass Ninja Blade vs Razor Blade
I read some of the reviews and people were saying the double side tape didn't hold up which is why I never tried it. I thought I cleaned the ninja blade enough but I guess not, the epoxy didn't come off the trolling motor, you can see it all came off the ninja blade.

Grass Ninja Blade vs Razor Blade
Not sure where to put this but I have had 2 Grass Ninja Blade 2.0's fall off my trolling motor. I fish a lot of grassy water and they do help but at $35 each, it's getting old with them falling off. I didn't use the two sided tape, I used a 2 part epoxy and they both still fell off. I was going to buy a third but was thinking, couldn't I just epoxy a standard razor blade from a utility knife on the trolling motor? Has anyone tried this? Worst case scenario is it doesn't work of when it falls off it will be a lot cheaper. Am I missing something here and this is a stupid idea?

Ulterra on a Tracker classic?
I put an Ulterra on a Tracker Pro-170. It fits but I had a small issue with it splitting the weld on the bow of the boat. Other than peeling the front of the boat apart, it worked out fine ?. The aluminum on the front couldn't handle the bouncing from the weight of the motor. This may have been an isolated issue but keep an eye on it. I had to weld the seam under the motor and I added some extra aluminum sheeting over the seam.

It's Battery time !!!!
I made the switch last fall to 3 Ionic 12v batteries. It's expensive but I got tired of going through batteries every couple of years and also having them lose power throughout the day (trolling motor slowing down b/c battery draining). Lithium batteries don't wear out as they are used, it's full power until they are out of power. Ionic batteries also have Bluetooth so you can check their power levels while using them. They have a 24v 50ah but I would go with 100ah if you fish a lot in a day. You would have to buy 2 12v 50ah batteries and that is costly so I get it. https://lithiumhub.com/product/12-volt-100ah-lithium-deep-cycle-battery/ https://lithiumhub.com/lithium-deep-cycle-batteries/marine-batteries/

Talon Squeaky
One of my 2 Talons is not living it's best life. When I deploy it, it is making a bad metal on metal sound really loud. I tried cleaning the Talon by extending it, scrubbing it it and lubricating the tracks. It sounded better but the next time out on the water it sounded just as bad. It is when the middle section extends. I'm not sure if there is a rock stuck somewhere but it sounds like metal grinding and it's high pitched. I tried cleaning again at full extension and sprayed a lot of WD-40 on the tracks as well as the pulleys at the top. It sounds good now but I haven't tried it on the water, I don't know if the WD will wear off once it is in the water. I don't see how to take the talon apart or do more than I've done. I may have solved the problem, I'll know that next time on the water. Has anyone else had this issue or have any tips?

2017 Tracker® Boats Pro Team™ 175 TXW
I had that boat and here's what I ended up doing instead of buying two fish finders or two screens : You can put whatever finder you want just to the right of the wheel on the side of the dash where the old finder was. Then get RAM mount that swivels (https://www.amazon.com/RAM-Horizontal-Fishfinders-Chartplotters-RAM-109HU/dp/B001GLLF3I/ref=sr_1_6?crid=11T35X0WG305L&keywords=ram+mount+fishing&qid=1674269760&sprefix=ram+mount+fishing%2Caps%2C97&sr=8-6&ufe=app_do%3Aamzn1.fos.006c50ae-5d4c-4777-9bc0-4513d670b6bc) This way you can look at the screen while driving then swivel it and rotate it to face the front of the boat. You can look back while fishing up front. It not that bad glancing back to see the screen.

Braid ID
So turns out the company that makes this line went out of business. The original seller found this post and let me know.

Braid ID
Does anyone know what brand of braid this is? I bought a used reel and it was already on it. Kinda like it and wanted to get some more. I haven’t seen it before, it’s mainly green with some white mixed in. Thanks.

Merino Wool Base Layers
I use SmartWool, pants and long sleeve top. They don't make you sweat even when you layer up. You can wear them multiple times without having to wash them b/c they're antimicrobial so they don't get funky. Kinda pricey but you only need 1 pair. I'd get the heavier 250 line. https://www.smartwool.com/discover/what-is-merino-wool.html

Garmin Live Scope 44 Transducer Angle?
I don't have that set up but I think I understand what your saying. Can you go to something in the water like a dock and use it for reference (since you can see it above water) and just set everything off a visual?

Lithium battery with Ulterra
Thanks for all of the advice. Amped Outdoors also mentioned the SmartShunt BT monitor and I like the idea of Ionic batteries having BT capability built in. I'm not sure if you can stow a 36v Ulterra by using the 12v starting battery. I've contacted MinnKota for that one. I doubt that I'd ever run the motor so much to drain the batteries into shut off mode but then again I don't want to find out the hard way. I go to a couple electric only lakes and the Susquehanna river which has a lot of current and I've run my AGM batteries low a few times where I could tell the Ulterra struggled to stow itself. This has been recent though and I think my batteries aren't lasting as long as when I first bought them 3 years ago.

Lithium battery with Ulterra
I'm looking to replace my 3 group 31 AGM batteries that are used to power my 36v Minn Kota Ulterra with Lithium batteries. I was looking at Amped Outdoors and they mention that lithiums shut off at a certain point when they are low. From what I've read, the meter on the Ulterra remote doesn't accurately tell you how much power lithium batteries have. The Ulterra has an auto stow/deploy feature and you can not manually stow the motor easily (must be serviced after manual stow also). What happens is your using lithium batteries and they shut off and the Ulterra is in the water? You're kinda in a jam so how can this be avoided? Is anyone using lithiums with the Ulterra? Should you use lithium batteries with an Ulterra?

lithium battery for livescope question
Would you mind providing the link to the battery you purchased. I was looking at them on Amazon but was nervous since not a lot of fishing people mention them. I've been looking at the amped batteries also (30ah) but as you said, it's sitting in a cargo ship that until the other day has been stuck in the mud in the Chesapeake bay, ironically 1 hour from my house.

lithium battery for livescope question
I'm using the factory wires from garmin directly to the battery, I didn't have to add additional wiring. I'm not sure what the AH rating is of my current battery but it's a standard battery, not AGM or Gel.

lithium battery for livescope question
I have a regular battery dedicated just for my livescope and 106uhd but it is only lasting about 5 hours so I think I need to upgrade to a lithium but I'm not sure what size to get. I'm looking at the Dakota lithium and they have a 23ah for just over $200 that seems like it should last over 8 hours a day. The next size up is like $500 which is really out of my price range. How long would the 23ah battery last. From my research the livescope/106 combo is around 3amps. I'd like to get about 10hrs a day out of a battery, do I need to go bigger than 23ah?

Do Stocked Trout Affect Bass?
I'm guessing you can't stand the people catfishing on the ramps on the Potomac either. They look at you like you're the a-hole for using the boat ramp. Don't get me started on the kayakers in MD either, they're the worst. Those guys will cut between you and the bank when you're clearly fishing there and there's about 20 ft between. They also like to use the boat ramps like it's their personal set up station taking forever to load/unload. I don't even slow down when I see them on the river. Wake up, it's payback time.

Got my new Revo SX. Some criticisms of Abu Garcia.
Somehow you will flip the release lever while fishing and the side plate will fall off. I didn't see how that would be possible then it happened and I still don't understand how it happened. I'm not sure if it's possible with the right handed model but definitely is on the left handed model. It was really a challenge to find a replacement side plate.

Got my new Revo SX. Some criticisms of Abu Garcia.
If you have a left handed baitcaster revo sx, put a small piece of tape on the side plate release lever. It's a design flaw and possible to flip the lever while fishing and the side plate will fall off. I had an Abu rep tell me this so I did it. The tape came off eventually and I wasn't really concerned anymore about the side plate coming off and sure as ****, I hit it one day and watched the side plate fall into the water....she gone.
