IMO A-Jay's advise makes the most sense to me. After all the lakes you fish aren't the great lakes or the ocean. Get the motor checked out and keep fishing.

My buddy took me fishing again. He threw top water much of the day with one landed fish and three more blowups while I threw a worm. He ended up with another on a worm and I had six or seven. Beautiful day with water temperature 65 when we were leaving.

I've fished where they are in CA and FL but haven't caught a bass much over 7lbs. I don't have the mind set to catch one and would rather catch numbers.

My old 16' Grumman had an expensive engine problem that was going to cost more than the boat was worth so I bought a 2005 17' Tracker. The 50hp engine has an idling problem that will get fixed. This boat has to last until I'm through with fishing. If anyone needs a good electric lake boat let me know.

I learned, by working in a motorcycle shop, the first thing that gets changed on a 2 stroke engine is the spark plug/s. Weed eaters, blowers, chainsaws, etc.

The hard to cast smallest ones in silver and black have caught many small striper in the canal above Piramid Lake in S Cal for me. Twitch a #9 or 11 next to weeds in FL and hang on.

Florida yard sales are great places to get stuff. Tackle boxes full of tackle, rods and reels, etc.

I find the Brent Chapman round bend from Walmart are very good. 15 hooks for about $5. I used to use Academy or Basspro hooks but they're very soft and the points bend. I use cheap treble hooks on my jigging spoons because when they're stuck in a brush pile the hooks bend to get the spoon back.

I fish Lanier which is essentially the same kind of lake and find the bait and find the fish. What time of day are you fishing? Weather permitting early morning is the best time with late evening the next best. Look up Preston Hardin, a Hartwell guide. We fished together on Lanier and he always knew where they were and how to catch them.

You live in a beautiful place and know how to fish there. Being that successful must bring you much satisfaction.

You're either tough or foolhardy for fishing in that kind of conditions. Please don't bite off more than you can chew. BTW I used to race dirt bikes and they called me crazy.

My first rod was also built from Herters components in the very early 50s. It was a trout rod for 4 lb line. I might still have it.

Hip boots in winter, sandals in summer. Buy a larger size hip boot so you can get them on easily.

We're all sure you'll catch all the 19"ers you can handle next year as well as the numbers you're hoping for. I'm just fortunate I can fish all year. Now all I need is a new, to me, boat and I'm looking.

My boat is non op and my buddy invited me to go fishing a couple of days this week. Wednesday we fished from noon til 5 and I didn't get a bite, my buddy caught 6 bass that probably weighed under 2 lbs. Today, Friday, we caught 5 bass with 4 good Alabama Bass. I lost one at the boat. It was blowing all day so we both threw spinnerbaits. My buddy caught one and I picked up a worm and caught one. I lost one at the boat but landed 2 both on a worm.
