Best Megabass Frog rod in heavy cover?
I love it. I use it for bombing bigger frogs across mats. It's an F6, but it has d**n good power. It's a little slower rod, so you fight with the belly of the rod more when you have fish and slop on. To me, it's just a little slower perfect pitch, which I personally prefer. I use this rod for pitching/short range punching 1 oz jigs into cattails/reeds as well. It's just been a really versatile rod for me, and I love it.

The carbon head wild bunch is one sweet frog rod in my opinion.

Daiwa Tatula Lt vs Kage LT
I bought mine when they first came out last year. A 1000,2000, and will be picking up the 2500 this year too, if that tells you anything. Don't have lots of time on them, just from august- late November when the ice rolled in. I think they're awesome.

Rod for deeper jerkbaits
In curious to hear how it performs. The specs look good on it for what im looking for. I've got awhile before the ice breaks up, so I have time to decide at least

Rod for deeper jerkbaits
I actually had mike from DVT build me a spinning rod for my smaller jerks (3/8) tricker darters, small pop-r, etc. I wouldn't be against using a spinning in a heavier power for my bigger ones either. Normally when the conditions are right for throwing a jerkbait, It's windy anyways so that may work out better.

Rod for deeper jerkbaits
Ahh, I forget the second gen orochi bumped up to a 6'11 as well. The orochi xxx oneten stick intrigued me as well. The Croix topwater was one I considering as well. The legend tournament 68mxf.

Rod for deeper jerkbaits
I will have to check them out, been hearing lots of good about themm.... I'll be interested to hear how it does! I loved my destroyer for it, except the trigger. I haven't tried the orochis, but if anything like the destroyers, it should be one sweet rod. Isnt the orochi a touch shorter at 6'8 as well? I'm gonna see if I can get my hands on the 844. Looking at just the specs and your review, it seems like it may be what I am looking for

Rod for deeper jerkbaits
Hey all, I've been doing a lot of digging on this, and even have thoughts of possibly going custom. I am looking for a rod, 6-6 to 7' max, that will be good for throwing the deeper jerkbaits such as Xrap#12, vision 110+1 or vision 110+2, pointer 128s etc. Also bigger topwater baits. 1/2 poppers, spooks etc. I had the MB destroyer oneten special, and it was a awesome rod for it, i just didn't like the trigger on it for these techniques. I don't mind the triggers for everything else, but for jerkbaiting, wasn't for me. Awesome, awesome blank though. I like kind of a faster rod, to give good snaps to these northern smallies, but the rod has to have enough bend to keep those light trebles hooked up. I am normally running 10 or 12 pound co poly and fluoro, depending how much I want to adjust my depth, so that allows me to get away with a little faster rod that I like. I am open to production rods, or suggestions for blanks for a custom, please lemme know what you guys think.

What weights do you use for timber/laydowns?
This almost looks like a punch rig I use. Lots of good interesting info here fellas, I like seeing the variations in setups, it gives me a lot to think about/different setups to try this spring/summer. Are you guys fishing these on heavier powered rods to pull em out of the brush/sticks? I know last year I had some trouble with fish wrapping me up in the trees but just figured it was the nature of the game, which I am sure it is to a point. We don't get a lot of big bass up here, 5-6 pounds at the most. But there is notoriously big northern pike in my home lake, 35+ inches. I see a few people like going with more of a worm type bait over a creature style, is that due to the bait slipping through branches and what not better?

What weights do you use for timber/laydowns?
Interesting. I will have to try weightless around timber. I've always thrown weightless around more rock/sparse weed cover. On my home lake, it is a man made reservoirs full of submerged old red and white pine, and some cedar. I constantly lit up suspended fish on the graph, but always had a hard time fishing it. I tried heavier weights like 1/2-3/4 but they've never seemed interested, even in lighter weights. I'll have to try throwing a worm on this year and see what happens. Do you adjust your bait size/profile as well? Something like going from a tube to a more beaver/brush hawg type bait?

What weights do you use for timber/laydowns?
Thank you for your input. I've tried a few ways of pitching where I am at. Mainly 1/4 oz trigs with a 3.5 inch tube or a 4 inch lizard. I've been using a 3/8 or 1/4 football head jig wise. Mostly I just get hung up though, haha. I am curious if guys use alot of heavier weights for this, like 1/2 or 3/4, or stick to lighter stuff since it's not like throwing stuff into thick grass/milfoil.

What weights do you use for timber/laydowns?
I am curious what weights for jigs and trigs, and what kind of plastics you guys pitch in laydowns, timber, stump fields, etc. Also what hooks/jig head style work best for it. Gimme some hints!
