Half a dozen lures to start a jerkbait box?
The Shad Rap won't cast as far as no weight transfer system, but otherwise it quite honestly seems to out fish more expensive options, and I love the Rozante/Rerange.

Anything better then smallies on jerkbaits?
I'll take a topwater bite over a jerk bait any day.

How do you feel about giant smallmouth in creeks below a dam that are clearly from the lake, do you get less satisfaction than if they were native to the waterway you are fishing?
I wouldn't sweat it. Knowing how humans impact bass is part of the equation as to how good a fisherman you are. The bass are there because of people, but you have to piece that together. I don't see it being different than fishing a dock, which is also a man made structure that attracts fish.

Theory on why bass or other gamefish can at time become very selective.
It's a MASSIVE difference when 1) you have unlimited food/energy sources to fuel your hunting b) your hunting, though getting around is taxing, requires nothing more than taking a shot and doesnt require energy. A better equivalency would be to think about yourself with zero food and having to chase down your prey rather than shooting them. That's a bass' predicament for you.

Learned Something New About Bass Behavior
Up here tagged Musky were found to move out of an area when a boat came near them Why? Don't know.

What's the First Thing You Throw?
If not weedy I pretty much start off with a jerk bait, topwater or swim bait. If they won't hit those I slow down and/or target bottom.

Ned rig and ponds
I like a ned on rock bottom. If that soft I'd throw a Texas rigged whatever.

Power fishing vs Finesse fishing
When I started out all I threw was moving baits: cranks, topwater (whopper plopper), some swimbaits etc. I caught far fewer fish, but the fish I did catch were generally larger. I got skunked or nearly skunked many times. Since then I start out with something moving, then settle on finesse, usually a senko, ned rig, texas rigged craw of some kind. I catch more fish, but they tend to be smaller. Rarely get skunked.

What line did I spool last year? Can't remember!
Interesting idea until I swap all my reels around on different rods lol. I took all my reels off the rods over the winter and I think that accelerated my brain cramping. The other poster made a good point about simplifying. I've got random mono of all kinds, but I can't stand mono, FC from 6 to 20 lb test, braid from 8 to 80, all different brands based on sales. I could probably just use: 8 lb flouro 12 lb flouro 20 lb braid 50 lb braid For basically everything.

What line did I spool last year? Can't remember!
Wish I'd done this.

What line did I spool last year? Can't remember!
I know I should write this stuff down, but I'm coming out of hibernation and simply can't remember what I spooled on various reels. I think I'm able to eyeball the line and make an educated guess, but is that realistic? I also purchased two used reels that came fully spooled, one with braid and one FC. Can people accurately identify the test by look/feel? I guess compare to a similar line? I'd guess it is 30 lb braid, but in the back of my mind I'm second guessing myself.

How do you work a wacky rig?
Chuck it. Let it sink. Wait a bit. Reel in. I rarely get bit working it, at least not the point where it doesn't make sense to just reel it in faster and cast somewhere else.

Tips for landing a pike in kayak sitting?
If I am fishing water with pike/muskie in my kayak I always carry a net, which I of course learned the hard way. The longer you spend trying to land them in close quarters the more likely you are to get broken off, snap a rod (have done this with a big-ish muskie in the backcountry), catch a treble or some teeth. Unhooking a big one in a kayak can be a challenge and I'll often beeline to shore to try and handle things there.

Lures you want to try, but just haven’t.
It is awesome, but still a pretty niche bait. It only goes maybe 4 feet underwater. Casts amazingly though for such a little lure.

Where to throw light T rigs?
I use 1/16th or 1/32 even with a creature bait. I find this works great if I want to fish it like a topwater as it won't sink too fast. I mainly use these weights around sparse lily pads, where I can fish it like a toad on top, or kill it and let it sink (slowly) in any gaps. Seems to work for me. I prefer a slow sink if fishing in shallow rather than something that just rockets to the bottom.

That one bait/rig that you don't use but everyone else does
I believe they work as people obviously catch fish on them like crazy. They might not be the best option in my waters, which tend to be super clear/I'm often fishing for smallmouth. Where I fish for LMB is filled with too many weeds for a chatterbait, but a spinnerbait will sometimes come through. When I see clips of people fishing in the USA in reservoirs and such the water looks WAY muddier than anything I've ever encountered up here. I'll keep one with me though and give it another try when the conditions seem right:)

Megabass vs anything
I have a couple of their cranks and they are fine, but don't catch more than equivalent alternatives.

Tackle Storage and Management for Hoarders
I put all my hardbaits on a pegboard, organized by type. I put all plastics in labelled bins by type. I put opened terminal tackle in old school fold out tackle boxes. I then take what I need for a given trip. Like you I sometimes bank fish, kayak or rent a boat.
-
That one bait/rig that you don't use but everyone else does
Chatterbait. Can't see a need for it. If water is clear, as normal here, I use a swimbait. If choppy or stained I go spinnerbait.

Do You Ever Wet Wade?
Yep! Any shallow river that allows it. The most fun way to fish.
-
Bass season closed during spawn
Bass fishing in the USA is more of a developed "sport" so they make it possible to catch them while spawning. Basically from political pressure. Canada we are conservative due to cold weather/less pressure from tournament fishing. People can try for trout/crappie/perch/pike/muskie/walleye until bass season starts and spawning ends.

Latest Tackle Purchase Thread (Bait Monkey Victim Support Group)
One of 2 non chain tackle shops locally going out of business, so I made one last trek. Never fished a Vision 110 or any spro cranks. I'm looking for a smaller crank for smallmouth in clear water situations that casts far. Hope these work! Also never tried the Berkley flat worm. They don't look special, but everyone says they work.

The Found Lures Thread
Nice find! I've caught a lot of fish on that lure in that colour.
-
Has any lure wowed you and retained its lofty position?
I have not had much luck on a fluke. Maybe it just requires more time figuring it out. I suspect it might be better in places with shad. I also like the ease of rigging a wacky senko. It is simple and can be accurately cast to specific targets. The actual Senko gets bit. Why? Don't care. So I use it rather than alternative worms. I am sure the alternatives work, but if it ain't broke and I'm not broke, Ill stick with the original.
