  2. Weightless? How many lbs braided line for weightless on baitcaster? Can’t seem to cast it out far and backlashes on me
  3. Hey, I’m fishing out at the Newport News Park. It’s quite a challenge for me. I tried different lures, baits, etc. nothing works for me and no bites. The lake air is a clear water with tall grass and floating weeds/ algae by the shore. Further out got a lot of grass. I tried weedless jigs with craw or bugs. I even tried simple hook to craw. At first I did crankbaits and jerkbaits but catches too much grass. Maybe I didn’t use the right color or technique. Whats your thought?
  4. Okay. Got a MH fast action 7’ rod. 7.1 reel. It’s a lot better than my old rod now. It’s a diawa revo. I’m pretty happy. I also have 30 lbs on it plus 3/4 test weight. It went a bit further than my old plueuger Templar. My new reel has magnet brake. I set it full and play with my brake till drop perfectly. I’m gonna practice with it till my magnet brakes get to 0. I’m pretty happy with it now. thank you guys. Hopefully I’ll be able to catch some bass with jigs.
  5. Do you have a link for the fast action rod? Idk what’s fast action or mod action. I’m used to medium heavy, medium, etc.
  6. That’s different than I thought. I thought it was the reel for different baits/lures. Not the rod.
  7. So I was looking through YouTube and I thought it was interesting that someone combined a weedless football jigs with craw tackle on the hook. Looks pretty nifty to me and I wanted to try that. Thing is, I wanted to use baitcaster/rod for crankbait/jerkbait. But is it possible for me to use same baitcaster/rod for the jigs set up as well? my plan is to get a Kastking Speed Demon Pro Baitcasting Reel with High speed 9.3:1 or Kastking New Royale Legend Baitcasting Reels Elite Series (I think it’s 6.6:1) someone recommended that to me on Instagram. Combine that with 7 feet 6 Medium Heavy Power Rod. Would that work? I’m guessing I would add 30 lbs braided line on it. Im not sure. I really would like to use same single baitcaster/rod for crankbait, jerkbait, jigs combined with craw. Just one pole till I have enough money to get another. Let me know what you guys think.
  8. Do you guys have guides on how to use crankbaits, jerkbaits, worms, jigs, etc, when to use them and when not to? Someone told me if the water is muddy, use jigs. If the water is clear, use crank bait, etc. just wondering. I’m overthinking. Lol
  9. Whaaat? The d**n button a centrifugal brakes? Lol. Thank you. Thanks for the advice. Copied and paste into my note apps in my phone. I had no idea. I don’t know how am I supposed handle the reel and push to use that button. Awkward, lol. Thank you for clearing that out.
  10. Hey there. I’m just curious of what y’all use for baitcaster set up? I have Rapala cast rod with 12-20 lbs test 7 feet tall. Fplueger Templar 6.4.1 baitcaster reel, no magnetic or centrifugal brakes. 8 lbs power pro dark green braided line Albright knot to 12 lbs really old monofilament line as a backing. I use my rod for crank bait and jerk bait mostly for bass. And my setup is horrible. I went back to my spinning reel fishing rod with 12 lbs braided line instead. I really wish I could go back to baitcaster, I’m too stubborn to attempt to master it. Lol Just curous of what you guys have for bass fishing?
  11. Thanks y’all!
  12. Hello guys, first time returned fisher guy. Used to fish saltwater mostly ever since I was a little kid till I hit highschool. Moved to Michigan. Tried freshwater, didn’t work out for me. I was a pro for saltwater, catching mostly catfish, strippers, etc. whelp, that was long time ago. Now I’m gonna be 29 soon. Met a beautiful tomboy chick that loves to fish and has a kayak of her own. She inspired me to fish again. Now I pulled out my old baitcaster, spinning reels, and this nifty Rapala cast rod that my uncle won from his big game tournament. Loaded up my baitcaster with 8 lbs braided line. Went fishing. Havent caught anything yet. But I’ll be stopping by the forum frequently for advices and guides and probably chitchat with fishermen like y’all out there. :) so hi there.
