  1. Looks nice but unless I'm missing something it isn't available in 10 foot
  2. Fits in my vehicle where my kayaks live currently. I've decided on the pelican. Watched reviews and comparisons to the passport. Thanks for the suggestion though.
  3. Thought i was 100% sure I'd take a chance on the pelican catch110 hydrive 2 that isn't in stores yet but i was curious if anyone had experience with a different 10 foot fishing kayak. I need it to be 10 -10.5 feet and stable to stand on, and $1500 or less would be ideal. Thank you.
  4. Awesome, in-laws have a cabin in Wisconsin so always have both. Thanks
  5. Cool thank you very much. I live in Bloomington so ill check what's close where i can park and launch. Never really fished the river but a pedal kayak should make it doable.
  6. Sorry for the dumb question.... can you bass fish the Mississippi river year round? Apparently I'm not smart enough to comprehend the dnr regs.Watching videos of people fishing it late March to mid April but I want to be legal. All this new gear and kayak are calling to me.
  7. I really like 30lb suffix832 advanced superline. Casts awesome and ive personally never had an issue with 30lb or higher digging in.
  8. I bought and returned the slx dc. casts well but the dc sound wasn't for me. I then bought the tatula sv for the versatility to cast lighter baits and i love it. I own two other tatulas which like the sv all have the t- wing line guide and one thing to consider if you tie longer leaders the knots tend to get hung up in it. Happy birthday and good luck!
  9. I used a 6'9" mojo bass mh/xfst because it was all i really had. Caught fish but really just felt too stiff. Bought the 7'2" mh/ fast expride and that felt really good. Hook sets felt better to me for chatterbaits and swim jigs.
  10. Thanks, still looking for a rod, maybe a price break will help me choose between a few lol.
  11. This is coming up in Minneapolis in April. Has anyone ever gone? Curious if they have any deals, specifically gloomis or is it all retail price. Thank you.
  12. You are right. I'm going to just go for the nrx.
  13. In Minnesota a store does it every August... interesting you think id bother to post a lie when I'm just asking for suggestions.
  14. Thanks for all the replies. I'm interested in the champion xtreme and possibly a st Croix around that price point. I'm still researching though lol.
  15. Yeah 2 years ago I traded drinking for fishing... nice to still see some of my spending. Pretty sure you have answered my questions before as I'm trying to learn bass fishing. Thanks again.
  16. I fish from a kayak, would like to be right around 7ft mh/ fast. Would love a nrx but ill wait for 50% off sale next fall for that. Trying to keep it to around 350 because I'm also buying a new kayak, chronarch mgl reel and a tatula elite ags spinning rod... there goes a nice chunk of my year end bonus lol.
  17. Looking for my first higher end rod for bottom contact. I do have a shimano expride i bought for 50% off last fall, but if there is something for under or close to 350$ that's a jump in sensitivity id like to hear about it. Spring fever set in, hope everyone else is having a good winter.
  18. Just a friendly reminder that black Friday is approaching fast. I have multiple tatulas for various techniques and love them all. Maybe wait and get one on sale for your desired price point. Good luck
  19. I looked at a few, accuweather has it looking decent from November 5th on for a bit. Maybe the one that had mostly 50s was a little optimistic lol. I'm probably overly optimistic myself. We are about to find out i guess.
  20. Not sure where in Minnesota you guys are but the metro extended forecast actually calls for low 50s first week of November with only 1 freezing low that week. Might have a few weeks. I'm not ready for a 6 month shut down yet, guess we will see.
  21. Fishing out of a kayak with no electronics so not sure of the water temp. Was able to catch some decent bass cracking a tube in depths ranging from 12 to 20 feet near the healthier looking weeds. First time fishing a tube, seems like a decent way to cover water while still being finessey.
  22. So i found a newer store I've never heard of 20 miles from me and did just that. Bought a tatula sv and took it out on the lake with 14 miles per hour wind and started casting a weightless baby brush hog and moved up in weight gradually.Never skipped a baitcaster so i messed with that for a little while with mixed success but i never backlashed. I absolutely love it. Finished up fishing a half ounce swim jig, caught a pike and called it a day. Thanks to the community for helping a newer bass fishermen get a great reel.
  23. I could up my budget to 300$ if there is a clear upgrade at that price point. I can cast a baby brush hog with a1/8 oz weight on my tatula 100... guess i figured reels costing 100$ more from good brands would do that and then some. Thanks for the help guys. I love this site.
  24. 1/4 to 3/4 bottom contact mainly. To pair with my mh expride A. Jigs, Texas rigs. 3/8 would probably be tied on the most.
  25. Well now I'm more confused. 250 is my budget, id have to order a tatula ct and i wanted something today lol. Thanks again, i like hearing several opinions even if I'm more confused lol.
