  1. Gamakatsu octopus hooks #1 on a Yo-zuri Hybrid Ultra Soft 10 lbs. using Cabelas TXS II 6'6" baitcast rod and Daiwa Viento BC reel. Although I might try the P-line Halo for dropshotting as soon as my order arrives from Cabelas.
  2. I read about problems with zillion gonna stick with Shimano Can you post the problems you have read about the zillion? I am interested to know because I am seriously considering the zillion for my next buy. Thanks.
  3. The Revo S is a very nice reel, not to mention real value for your money . If you do a search in this section and type in 'Abu Garcia Revo', you'll find lots of good reviews (from previous threads) from more experienced anglers in this forum. I'm sure you'll enjoy lots of years fishing with it. I use it for my T-rig set-up. Congratulations!
  4. Since Ronnie has both reels (I only have the Curado :'(), he would be the better judge regarding comparison of the two. Here's the link where I read about the Curado being a heavier version of the Chronarch Mg (of coarse, this was their opinion). http://www.tackletour.com/reviewshimanocurado100d.html
  5. Whichever equipment you choose, just enjoy it! Get the Curado next time (just so you have a comparison).
  6. The Curado 100D. If you want to cast light baits with ease, IMO this is the reel to buy. The low start-up inertia of the Magnumlite spool really does the trick. Although they say that the Chronarch Mg is a lighter version of the Curado 100D, I don't think it has the Magnumlite spool. Good luck. Whatever reel you might decide to buy, enjoy fishing it!
  7. The Shimano Curado. It casts so effortless.
  8. I currently have the following baitcasting rods: Cabelas TXS II - for T-rig plastic worms Cabelas TXS II - for drop shot Fenwick HMG GT 66M - for medium crankbaits Shimano Compre CPC-X66MH - for deep-diving crankbaits All the above are 6'6" and are on the 100-130 USD price range. I am thinking of replacing one rod with a Browning Fishing Midas Boron Baitcast rod. Does anyone have any experience with this rod? What features do you like mostly in this rod? Is it worth replacing the rods I currently have? If yes, which rod would you suggest I replace it with? I mostly fish in deep (15-30 feet), stained, open waters for Largemouth Bass. Thanks in advance for your suggestions.
  9. I have one for six months now and I use it for my dropshot rig. Have no problems so far, but have not been using the twitchin bar either. ;D
  10. I have a Fenwick HMG medium 6'6". Very light and easy to use all day. If I have the chance to sell my shimano compre 6'6", I will and then buy another HMG but MH this time.
  11. I also use Yo-zuri Hybrid ultra soft for my crankbaits. It has some line stretch but not as much as monos.
  12. Drop shot rig with 5/8 ounce lead sinker and 1/0 octopus hook.
  13. Right now, it's my Curado 100D on my Fenwick HMG Medium 6'6" rod, spooled with 10 lb. yo-zuri hybrid ultra soft.
  14. I have the Revo S and have absolutely no regrets!!!!
  15. I have two. 1) Shimano Curado 200DPV 5.0:1 on a MH Shimano Compre 6'6" rod and spooled with 10 lb big game (but to be re-spooled with Yo-zuri Hybrid Ultra Soft #12 as soon as my order from Cabelas arrives). For use with deep-divers like DT-16, K-4, Mad Pepper, Down Deep Fat Rap. 2) Shimano Curado 100D 6.2:1 on a M Fenwick HMG 6'6" rod and spooled with Yo-zuri Hybrid Ultra Soft #10 (also to be re-spooled to #12). For use with medium cranks like Jointed Shad Rap, K-3, Hardcore LB-90.

I use regular lead bullet sinkers for T-rig during non-tournament fishing. Tungsten bullet sinkers during tournaments, IMO, is a must.
  17. Two weeks ago, I was doing some experiments and tied a 12 lb vanish transition to a #10 yo-zuri ultra soft and pulled both ends until one of the lines broke. The vanish transition broke while the yozuri was still tied to both ends. I did the same experiment to all my other lines and the only line that broke the #10 yo-zuri was the 15 lb big game.
