I dont know the specifics of these baits, but all of them will catch bass.- Advice on setting the hook with jigs?
Both I would hope, with bass you never know if what you did yesterday is going to produce the same result today. It should, but...... A good dose of humility has done more for my bass catching than anything else. I have a friend that thinks I should use a flouro leader in place of straight braid, I say what for the one extra bass a week. His response well that's 52 more a year, wonder if there isn't a DD in there. But, but, but I might lose a jig! DD he says!- Advice on setting the hook with jigs?
My problem was setting hook on slack line, this helped.- Dobyns rods
Word!- Fluorocarbon
Same here, with seaguar invisx. Literally felt dead. No help with sensitivity compared to braid, stretched horribly compared to braid, cost twice what powerpro does. Lost three jigs that I wouldn't have if I's stuck to braid. The one positive, it handled much better than expected. I now have 200 yards of leader material.- Beginner baitcaster
Dobyns, DC 733C or DC734, nice versatile rods that fit for top water. I say bite the bullet and get to learning bait casting with a Tatula 100 or CT, you can get the same performance out of a Fuego minus T-wing for much less. For 80.00 Fuego ct that comes with braid and a bait, https://north40.com/daiwa-fuego-ct-bait-casting-reel?176=22741&558=20506- Honey Do Wood Projects

presentations, budget?- Selecting rods. $$ vs need.
Pre Champ 735, no jig fish. Now nearly every trip a jig fish or three. Not a four hundred dollar rod, but the increased sensitivity of this 260.00 dollar rod over my Fury's has made a difference that I have found to be worth every penny. Wish I had started with better rods, at least for bottom contact baits. I started with an 80.00 Abu, moved up to a Fury and finally the Champ. Quick math says I could have spent the 200.00 saved on baits. Hindsight sucks.- *MVL* Most Valuable Lure for 2020?
Same, spent the summer learning the Jig. In fact the only plastic I used this summer has been jig trailer. But what really produced for me has been a Jerkbait.- Busted My Rod.
And the Dobyns warranty is top notch.- Oring vs hair band vs other uses ect
You have to submerge rod tip, at least two feet under surface.- Oring vs hair band vs other uses ect
Its not the bait, its not the hook, its not the O-ring, its you!- Fogy vs. Chatterbait Action
If I'm not mistaken you make your own? I've made a few with football head jigs and the large shakee blade, but I had to use two spit rings due to the orientation of hook eye. Do you find that with a single split ring that they hunt better than with two? OP sorry to thread jack ya.- Relative newbie bank fishing first fall weather fish jumping everywhere I can't get a bite! Jigs, another arrow in the Monkeys quiver.- My first jig fish
I have been using braid, there is a point as jig is being swept down stream that I need to "mend" my line to maintain line tension. I have been considering FC for what I've heard is better slack line sensitivity. But my thinking is that FC sinks, so I'd end up with a big bow in my line under the surface. Not sure if I would have enough tension to detect strikes or the bow would negate FC slack line sensitivity? Hope I'm getting my point across, lol. Kinda hard to explain.- My first jig fish
I have struggled with the jig for the past four months. Up until yesterday evening I had two fish both under a pound and they where "just there" as I started to burn jig back for another cast. I up graded my jig rod from a ABU vendetta H/F to a Dobyns fury 735, definitely noticed a difference in sensitivity. But still wasn't feeling the bite and no fish. I fish some pretty fast water and 3/4 once jig gets ripped off of far bank in seconds and this is where the fish are. There is barely enough time to reel up slack before jig is on the move out of strike zone. Frustrated, I decided to upgrade my rod once more, I bought a Dobyn's Champ DC 735. I immediately noticed rocks where I hadn't before. And then on my third cast, I felt a "tick", a tick that was different from the rocks and wood that are present. One fish I'd say was a coincidence but two? Sensitivity matters! Not bad for first jig fish, 2.44 And then,- What line to use?
I use Yellow Power pro #10 on my one and only spinning set up. Seeing your going out for your first trip, - How do bass manage to make crawfish 80% of their diet, how do they catch them? I thought they are always hiding outside of spawning season
