  1. Last year, War Eagle Spinnerbaits. specifically the screaming eagle series.
  2. None of the bigger bass are biting anymore just little ones. Compared to previous years including last year, and if the new smaller bass population will stunt.
  3. There wasn't a winter fish kill. You must be referring to the fish kill I mentioned that happened 7 years ago. And there's plenty of big adult size bass in there. I caught a bunch of solid and healthy 2 to 3lber last year and just caught a 5lbers the other day. Thousands of bluegill below 5inches. Also schools of golden shiners. In the spring the state also stock a few hundred rainbow trout average depth is around 10 to 12ft with a few 20ft holes in the middle.
  4. But the quantity of them though is that something to be concerned about?
  5. Hey all, recently a 10 acre pond I have been fishing for years has had an explosion of smaller sized bass in the 8 to 13inch range all relatively healthy with normal body conditions and some even having fat bellies. The pond itself suffered a fish kill 7 years ago and was restocked with bluegill, golden shiners largemouth bass and channel catfish/brown bullhead, the adult size bass are relatively healthy with small heads and fat bodies, some growing as big as 5lbs including one I caught the other day on a jig, but going back to my original question. Is this new generation a concern for possible stunting or overcrowding? Here are a few pics of the new bass that have been caught. So far none of these (newbies) as I call them are showing obvious signs of stunting (big eyes skinny bodies) etc
  6. For compact jigs or flipping jigs in general I use the Beast Coast Fishing Lil Magnum, great little jig and is tungsten! https://www.tacklewarehouse.com/Beast_Coast_Tungsten_Lil_Magnum_Jig/descpage-LMJ.html
  7. Jig or something finesse like a hover rig worm or ned rig. Usually does the trick
  8. Using scent in bass fishing really is a mental game for anglers. Some swear by it and others don't, nobody really knows for sure if it can make a great difference or any difference at all. I tried using bang garlic a few years ago and it leaked in my fishing bag and it probably took me 3 months to get the smell out. Never again!
  9. I went out today to a few ponds and caught nothing, but we had a warm spell in NJ that was quickly killed by the gusting winds, In the time I had to fish the open water I threw around a slow rolled megabass sv-3 spinnerbait, a 3inch keitech easy shiner and a finesse trd. no bites again but that's usually what I start out with, fished deep until the wind was too much.
  10. Imo it's a bit of both, I've caught giants on ned rigs and dinks on glidebaits. I do feel that big baits will usually get you bigger fish.
  11. I live in Northern New Jersey so this could be anywhere from when the ice is out at 40 degrees to the verge of prespawn around 50 degrees water temps. Last year I didn't catch my first bass until April 3rd and the year before it was in the beginning of march, it honestly just depends when the weather is right and the fish come alive again sorta Please share and details about your pattern, I always struggle with water temps in the 40s
  12. can't go wrong with a weedless senko or a pegged texas rigged creature bait, what kind of grass are we talking about?
  13. Spring and it's not even close. Mid april to mid may is probably my favorite time, up here the bass are all up shallow, big and extremely predictable. Fall binge would be my second.
  14. Been bass fishing for 6 years and been fishing in general since 05, guess i'm an amateur lol
  15. Yeah I junk fish a lot, especially when i'm on the bank like at ponds. I usually start off with a reaction bait, walk around the pond, then after no bites i'll switch to a slower presentation. On the boat however. This seems to be thrown out the window, I find myself picking up the slower presentations first in an area I know has fish. This past weekend was a prime example, I rolled up into a cove with a feeder creek in the middle. I casted my jerkbait a couple times into the current with no bites. switched over to throwing a big TRD on a ned rig and caught 3.
