  1. Got a couple packs today of the zoom finesse worms in green pumpkin/black for shakyhead fishing. Want to fish them shakyhead, what would be a good jig and jig head size for this application?
  2. Don't cast far into the middle of the pond/lake or where ever you're fishing. The fish are going to be near the bank most of the time. Cast left and right into shoreline almost and you'll get bites. Also look for giveaways like bluegill activity and blowups near bushes and trees hanging over the water. If the bite gets tough get a pack of ZOOM trick worms and shakeyhead jigs. You're gonna have off days, we call it the "skunk" or getting skunked. Try to fish at mornings or evenings.
  3. The fishing gods like you then.
  4. Same brother always rock me some HUK headware out there especially on those windy spinnerbait days
  5. The first cast catch curse is real. I don't care what anyone says. I never have a good outing when that happens. Had it happen 5 times this season alone. Sometimes I'll make a cast into land just to prevent the curse from happening.
  6. Thanks man, i'll probably just get my already specific colors, besides it's only the skirt, the trailers is what really matters
  7. Hey all. Gonna be buying some dirty jigs football heads in the next couple of days but I'm really confused on what type or colors I should get for the skirts. (There's so many different variations) I've seen colors that imitate bluegills and crawdads, but I've always kept it simple towards color selection on my soft plastics. -Watermelon/Green pumpkin for clear water. -Green Pumpkin/Junebug/Black and Blue for those 50/50 clarity waters. -Junebug/Black&Blue for heavy stained and dirty water. (I've had a lot of sucess on all these colors this year) Should I still keep this setup for my future jig arsenal? Or should I try to get colors that imitate bluegills and craws more?
  8. Worst advice: Switch up lures every 15 minutes, only fish mornings and evenings. Trust Lunar calendars. Best advice: Fish right after rain showers, hop jigs like texas rigs, set the hook the second you feel something tap your line.
  9. This is 1000.000% truth, i'd rather catch 15 smaller bass within 4 hours than 2 bigger ones. Catching bass in numbers means you're doing something right.
  10. Real shame, over here in NJ we have many NJDEP wardens that stop by our local ponds, people are constantly getting fined and arrested for having too much.
  11. Eastern PA is a sleeper bass area, which county does this pond reside in? I would move spots and if you see people catching and keeping the legal limit please report them to the local authorities. It'll do the waterbody a favor.
  12. Hey man I would love to recieve free tackle but at the moment I do not have a PO box, (not at liberty to reveal personal address) once I get my PO Box going I'll shoot you a PM A-jay Tight lines.
  13. Hahahaha I understand this feeling very well, it tends to happen a lot for stick worms on texas rigs.
  14. Personally I love catching bass of all sizes, but I've noticed lately that a few non tournament anglers on here and other places get extremely frustrated when catching fish that don't make it past 1 to 2lbs. Why is this? Fishing is supposed to be a relaxing occasion, if you're not in a tournament there's no need to get upset about smaller bass IMO. Personally I think some anglers should be more thankful that the fish bite at all. To the anglers who do get upset about catching dinks why do you get mad about it? Tight lines.
  15. No problem man! Tight lines.
  16. It's alright A-jay I found a couple i'll be buying today hopefully for only 5 bucks hahahahaha I'll keep your offers in mind in the future also I wasn't able to check the forums for a few days.
  17. Color recommendations for some of these lures? Only have the budget right to get three to begin with and then later on i'll be able to add on my arsenal.
  18. Cheap in my opinion is anything under 15 dollars, thanks for the advice.
  19. I was out yesterday at my local pond and managed to get a really good bite right by a water fountain on a swimming dinger, in the late afternoon before the sun went down, I've noticed that bass in the summer time can be so confusing since we have these precidents about what they're doing, surprised bass even chase things in 90+ temperatures hahaha
  20. Does anyone have any hard baits they can recommend as jerkbaits? Rapala? Berkely? Something less expensive so I don't have to spend much on a new one if any mishaps happen, really want to get into it this year as I had luck with flukes in the past. Also I mostly fish bodies of water that aren't really that deep (less than 10 feet), recommended suspending depths?
  21. As a bank angler this question hits home hard... if i'm fishing a spot and don't recieve a bite within 30 minutes I'm either A. Switching to a slower bait (t rig, jig shakeyhead) or B. Switching spots or strategies, (deep fishing or casting into cover) if I'm in the same spot after 30 minutes and I already changed lures or changed strategies I'm moving to a different spot, I'll convince myself that area isn't holding bass at the moment. I'm glad more newer anglers are also starting to realize bass aren't panfish that bite everytime everywhere. Bass are strategic in their own right, as Bass anglers it's our job to find out what they want and where they are and how to catch them. I see bass fishing as one giant game of chess vs checkers. We beat the fish in their game by catching them.
  22. Fellow bank angler here, on my local pond here in NJ I've been using a mix of topwater and Texas rigged pitboss and when the temp reaches 90 I'm only using T-rigged and shakeyheads, the fish are either deep or in cover. Try pitching into cover, (overhanging trees, pond fountains and under lillies if your pond has them) the algae and weeds can be a pain in the summer, some ponds get infested with it at the bank but I still cast into them or next to them. But please keep yourself hydrated and cool, if you can buy some HUK UV resistant shirts and pants, it'll keep you cooler, also boonie style hats to keep your face shaded. This can all be found on HUKs website. Also go in the morning or evening, I have the most luck when it's past 6:00 in the evening.
  23. Green pumpkin and some form of a purple flake is all I throw in places with no shad, best bluegill imitation in my opinion
  24. The title really says it all, almost every body of water I go to I'll always have luck in the soft color category with green pumpkin, if it's a swimbait or a jig or a Finesse worm the color just catches fish. What is it with green pumpkin? I've fished stained water with it and caught fish, same with clear water. What is it with the color that gets bass to strike?
  25. How are the bigger smallmouth bass compared to the largies in terms of fighting? We catch smaller dink smallies here in NJ and it almost feels like catching catfish because they don't jump that much. The problem I have and I think Glenn made a video about this, is that I fish Texas rigs and don't give out slack line, in the video Glenn talked about the soft plastic coming close to the fishes mouth and it's not able to get a proper hookset, I believe this is my problem hahaha. It's a tick I really need to work on out on the water fishing. Usually bass I'm able to catch are hooked good in the lip or barely hooked on the side, it's really weird though because you'd think that if the fish is hooked barely in the lip they would jump and the hook would come out, but I've caught some where they'd jump and once I landed the fish they would wiggle and the hook came out on it's own. Bass honestly are weird fish hahahaha I feel like sometimes the fish has more explaining to do than us lol.
