  1. I throw a jig more than anything else. It has been good to me and I have a lot of confidence in it. I do throw a gene larew salty craw some in late summer though.
  2. I have never been a real big fan of berkley but I do like there big game line. I have never had any problems with it. I do not like the vanish line, I have had nothing but problems with it. Also, have one of their rods and I have had problems with it. I couldn't keep a reel on it, no matter how tight it seemed. I finally was able to fix it though. I love the action of the rod though.
  3. A single spin is just a short armed spinnerbait with a large colorado blade. It puts out a lot of thump and vibration. Most people around here use a stan sloan zorro but there are a lot of other brands.
  4. My number one lure for smallies after dark is a black and blue jig with a gycb twin tail trailer. I have also had a lot of success with brown and blue or a straight brown jig with a matching trailer. Also, a black and blue single spin can be deadly at times. They will about rip the rod out of your hands. The last thing that I like to throw for smallies after dark is a gene larew salt craw. That is the one bait that I will vary the color with more often. Black/blue, black/pink, black/org, etc.

Those are some really nice looking baits. The look like they should fetch top dollar.
  7. I love them. I never have thrown them in the lakes around here but they are great in the creeks and rivers. The smallmouth and bream love them. Also caught some catfish and gar on them.
  8. My favorite bait companys Soft plastic: Zoom/Culprit Crankbaits: Norman/Storm Jerkbaits: Lucky Craft/ Smithwick Topwater: Lucky Craft/ Heddon Spinnerbaits: War Eagle Jigs: My own
  9. I mainly use name brand but I do use some things in bulk. The only problem I have with bulk is if you buy something and then don't like it. Then you have to eat it. I do like to buy my line in bulk when possible though.
  10. I make my own and I get everything from barlowstackle.com. They are very easy to make.
  11. I make my own jigs now. It doesn't hurt as bad to lose one but before that I was partial to jewels 5/16 eakins jigs.
  12. I started thinking about that and it is tough but I think my top four would be Zoom Super Fluke (pearl) Jig n pig (brown/blue) Storm Wiggle Wart (V45, V38, or v63) T-Rigged 10" worm (Red with silver flakes)
  13. I have not fished them in stained water but the clearwater colors that I like are watermelon, pumpkin and crawfish. Im not sure if they still make the crawfish color though. Hope so, Im getting low. Also, I like junebug after dark.
  14. I mainly use them on a c-rig or a split shot. I wacky rigged one the other day when I went and it worked pretty good. It sounds like it works good on a dropshot so i will have to give it a go.
  15. I am very fond of my chronarch. It is the older model but I still love it. I would buy another one in a heartbeat. If the boss didn't mind, of coarse. lol. I would like to try one of those ardent reels though.

I have never been a big fan of him but I do give him props for the way that he handled last year. He ended up buckling down and turning it into a positive. I like him a lot more when he is low key.

Storm chug bug. Thats the only popper I throw. I don't really think that color is very important but I like the clear or bone ones.
  18. I would say my favorite inexpensive lures for bass are zoom super flukes and homemade jigs. If I lose one out about .75 cents. For trout, I love thomas colorado spoons. For creeks, rebel crawfish and crickhoppers. Cant go wrong.
  19. Wow... I know that is fun. I had the same thing happen to me a few years back in a little club tourney. I caught an 11lber on a jig and six lb test. I should have kept it, would have won the trash fish pot.
  20. I would have to say my least favorite brand is berkley. Everything I have ever got of theirs has been garbage except big game. It has stood up well. As far as lures go, I hate terminator spinnerbaits. I had one that wanted roll over when you burned it back to the boat. Couldn't tune it because of the titanium. Also not a big fan of strike king.
  21. My Favorites are Super Spook & Spook Jr. Lucky Craft Sammies Storm Chugbug Booyah Buzzbaits and a follow up for when they miss zoom fluke

This month 1. excalibur chart. shad twitch bait 2. norman dln black splatter back crank 3. hand tied brown & blue jig, match twin tail trailer 4. Lucky Craft lavender shad pointer 100. 5. excalibur melon pearl twitch bait
  23. I am a fan of falcon rods. They make a quality rod at a reasonable price but it is also hard to beat a st. croix rod. I would go with whichever one fits your style of fishing the most.
  24. They are not out yet but has any one seen the new Lucky Craft "real skin" pointers? What did you think? I personally thought they looked sweet but I am curious to how much they will cost. If you want to look they are on the lucky craft website under product news.
  25. Lake 1. homemade eakins jig (brown & blue, brown) 2. wiggle warts 3. rogues & pointers Creek & river 1. zoom fluke 2. hula grub 3. mad man craw tubes 4. deep tiny n's and little rebel crankbaits
