  1. I use the 1.5 and 2.5s. I've had the best luck on Sexy Shad.
  2. Great advice on the google search and great video
  3. Mann's, Norman, Strike King and Rapala
  4. I catch a lot of fish on SK cranks. Sexy Shad is the primary color I use. Most of them seem to run true right out of the box. I do upgrade to the mustad hooks tho.
  5. What line size do you guys use for cranking? With summer here I'm mostly deep cranking for a while. What do you use and why?
  6. I have a 7' 10 Quantum KVD Signatue Series cranking rod. Great rod, love it!
  7. So it's that time of year again. We're in triple digits here in central MS and the bass have moved into deeper water. Started going thru some tackle tieing on my favorite deep water baits. For me it's a Carolina rig, drop shot, deep diving crank and jig. What are your go to deep water baits for summer bass?
  8. You just got a good deal on them at the garage sale. They're not cheap.
  9. I'm not sure I do know they are last years model.
  10. I'm not that familiar with Okuma but Scott Martin swears by it. That Shimano lineup sounds great. They definetely make some great stuff. I have a friend that's gonna sell me two Curados for a good deal.
  11. Don't know what else to credit it to only thing I've changed is the rod. A friend of mine says it helps the action of the bait maybe he's right. I would call cheap being I didn't own a combo I paid more than $50 for.
  12. I've always been guilty of buying cheap rods and reels basically so I could buy more of them. Finally I've invested in my first quality rod, Quantum KVD cranking rod. It's made such a difference for me only had it a week and I've caught a lot of fish on a crankbait when I used to only occasionally get a crankbait bite. Gonna upgrade the reel on that rod next. Guess its time to start slowly upgrading all my combos. Quality is always better than quantity.
  13. Thanks for the feedback guys. A few of you mentioned fishing it a section at a time sounds like a good approach I will try that. And no the boat I bought doesn't have a trolling motor but I'm getting one for it next week. I used to have a small bass boat when I fished regularly so I understand boat control guess I was just a little intimidated by the much bigger body of water.
  14. I just recently purchased a small 15 ft boat with a 55 on it. Just has a cheap Eagle depth finder on it. I did pick up a map at BPS tho.
  15. Just recently got back to bass fishing. When I was fishing regularly before it was almost always in small lakes from like 100 to 300 acres. I now live right next to a 33,000 acre reservoir that I'm very unfamiliar with. Any tips for locating fish on a large body of water like this that you are unfamiliar with?
  16. I've had to go swimming before myself for leaving a plug out myself ha never a fun experience
  17. 15 ft D Craft with a 55 Chrysler. Older boat but in good shape.
  18. Been without a boat for several years now plus moved away from all my fishing buddies. Bought a boat yesterday headed out on the water fishing for the first time in a long time tomorrow, super pumped to get back out there.
  19. Looking at buying a boat that has stick steering with a 76 Evinrude 35 hp motor. Anyone have any idea how difficult it would be to convert to a steering wheel
  20. Thanks for all the great responses. You guys definitely gave me some good ideas to get them started on.
  21. So I have a son and step son who are both 8 that I take to fish for bream and catfish all the time and they love but they both are just dying to get started bass fishing. What do you guys think is the best lure/technique to start them on?
  22. So bought a map of the Ross Barnett Reservoir at Bass Pro and I'm a total rookie at reading these maps. Any tips or advice on what to look for?
  23. What are the Pros and Cons of split grip handles? Got out of the bass fishing scene a while recently got back in the game and seems these have become popular in my abscense. How do you guys like them vs a full grip?
