  1. Thanks for the explanation Team9nine. Now that I read back into smalljaw67's post, I realize that he said the exact same thing but I got lost in the words. Sorry for any problems I may have created. I'm new to this forum thing and being a visual learner isn't helping.
  2. You both aren't understanding what I'm saying. I'm talking about the angle of the head and the hook during retrieve. Like the gentleman above you said, my spinnerbaits run level. Look at the first and last spinnerbaits in this video. That's what i mean. The head and hook don't have that steep angle. I'm not trying to have a debate on physics, hydrodynamics, etc. I'm talking about the angle of the spinnerbait's body.
  3. That's a great question and maybe someone else can explain it. I'm telling you what I've seen retrieving them through gin clear water. With my regular retrieve speed, they come through the water just like you see in the picture or with the slightest amount of headlift. If I retrieve faster, they rise to the surface or roll on their side. I'm not trying to argue, I'm just giving you my experience.
  4. That's what I mean. My spinnerbaits will surface or roll. None have ever run with the hook below the skirt at such an angle.
  5. I've never had a spinnerbait run like that. Not even my $1 spinnerbaits. Probably has to do with the way the wire is bent right after it comes out of the head. Probably has to do with how the wire is bent right after it comes out of the head. I doubt something like that can be adjusted without weakening the wire.
  6. My Mach 2 is my favorite combo. The reel is awesome but the graphite frame does flex a bit when you hook into a good fish. For lipless cranks and chatterbaits, you might want a longer rod if you're ripping it through grass, say 7'2 or 7'3.
  7. Hello all, I want to have a discussion about braided line. Currently, the market is dominated by 4 carrier braids(PowerPro, PP Maxcuatro, etc.) and 8 carrier braids (Sufix 832, PP Super Slick, Seguar Smackdown, etc). While 4 carriers are rougher and are said to cut through weeds better, 8 carriers are rounder/smoother and quieter. 8 carriers are also said to cast further and offer better handling on spinning gear in lighter line sizes. This is where the discussion begins. I would like to hear your opinions and experiences. I thought that this might also be helpful for newer fisherman, reading real world experiences vs. marketing hype. Learning how to fish with braid can be very frustrating and the price compared to mono lines can be discouraging, especially for younger fisherman. Thanks in advance to all the participate.
  8. My advice is to make sure the knot isn't going through the guides regularly. One of my frogs and about 20yds of line is currently floating down the Tennessee-Tombigbee if it hasn't already made it to the Gulf of Mexico.
  9. Spiderwire Stealth is currently what I use on my bass and saltwater set ups.
  10. Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure larger line is denser allowing it to transmit more vibrations.
  11. Thank you guys.
  12. What size wire do you use?
  13. Definitely something to look into later on but right now I'm mostly trying to learn. Five bucks a pop for something I lose a lot of is kinda discouraging. I'm hearing a lot of good things about Seibert Outdoors. I'll be sure so see what they can whip up next time I'm stocking up. Their spinnerbaits look pretty sweet too so that's another plus.
  14. I'll be sure to check em out too. After looking em up, they might be the ticket. Many thanks.
  15. That arkie style jig you make is the exact description of what I'm looking for.
  16. I have 1 or 2 of those flourocarbon ones. I'll see how the spring keeper works with the craws. That elaztech can be a pain with spring keepers. I'll check em out next time I'm there.
  17. Gotcha. Just been having trouble finding something in a 1/4oz size that has a full skirt and heavier wire hook. Looking to pair with the trd craws from z-man.
  18. Okay, I was under the impression that there was a difference between regular jigs and compact jigs. Is "compact jig" just buzz phrase for marketing?
  19. What are some good compact flipping jigs? Not necessarily light wire, finesse jigs but something with a smaller profile. I bank fish a lot and I'm thinking that I could coax more bites with a smaller profile jig.
