I was thinking about something in 7' range and yes I would be using a mono leader. I was thinking about about a moderate action rod but now that you say fast action, would that provide enough shock absorption? Also, if anyone has any suggestions under $200, that would be helpful. I have one in mind since I will also be going saltwater fishing with it but any rod will work if it don't got microguides.

Alright, I'm finally considering going braid to leader on all (edit: most) of my baitcasting combos for simplicity/consistency and I have some questions. (if you can link any previous threads on the subject, that would be helpful) 1. I'm in the market for a new MH rod that I can fish spinnerbaits, chatterbaits, squarebills, and lipless crankbaits. Besides a moderate action, what else should I look for? Graphite vs composite? 2. If the leader knot is constantly traveling through the first few guides, will that friction wear/weaken the knot severely? (Knot will likely be wet) 3. My basis will be 50lb braid so how likely will I bend out regular worm/jig/treble hooks if I'm using a leader (most likely 12 or 15lbs)? I have some Owner jungle ewg but should I consider getting more straight shanks for worm fishing (I worm fish with primarily 3/0 offsets and don't like ewgs for worm fishing)?

It will work. The problem for more detail oriented anglers lies in having two different actions on the bait and paddletail due to water disruption by the blade. Flip it upside down to eliminate the double action problem if you don't like it.

Diversity is nice but don't get crazy. You'll end up with a bunch of stuff you don't use and regret buying. Ask me how I know, lol.

Can you clarify what you meant by deep? Along the dam deep or out in the creek channel deep?

This where I would start first if they are staging right before the move up. Some obvious points and some minor ones.

How do the regular shock blades compare to z man chatterbaits? I was specifically wondering about Picasso's tungsten model but info on their regular model would help too.

Does anyone have a review or experience to share about these bladed jigs?

BOSS dock knocker heads are great. Good hook and perfect weed guard angle imo. I pair mine with dirty jigs skirts.

Big baits don't always mean big fish. I think matching forage and forage size is more important. I caught my current PB on a 3.5" paddletail in January. I also caught another big bass on a 4" paddletail that day. Both fish were 5.5+lbs.

Have yet to be bothered by one and most of them will turn tail and run if they see you coming. The probability of you getting attacked is lower than that of you getting in a serious car wreck. Without knowing your situation, I can tell you I'm young and still willing to take risks but don't let fear hold you back either. Plus, there are lot's of precautions you can take to prevent a chance encounter. Gotta risk it for the biscuit. ?

Is there something preventing you fron fishing before daylight?

If you mostly fish shallow water, you don't need one of the big fancy graphs with all the imaging and spotlock is unnecessary too. Just get you a small unit with decent mapping and depth shading. A map and a bait like a squarebill, spinnerbait, or swim jig is all you need to disect an area. If you want to hold position for cheap, rig you up an anchor pole or better yet use a strong piece of bamboo.

I respect JW for his accomplishments but I honestly feel like he's over complicating things. To each his own tho.

@NittyGrittyBoy I have actually been thinking about doing this for a while. Will definitely try it when I get more spinnerbaits.

Okay, so I already have two chartreuse and white single colorado spinnerbaits. I also have a green pumpkin and a black/blue jig skirt lying around. Would the chartreuse head be a problem if I put the darker jig skirts on it? I'm thinking that the chartreuse head will give the bass an easy target and help them eat the spinnerbait better but what do you guys think?

I've never tried double skirting but I remember seeing a pro hammering fish in tournament doing that a few years back. In my experience, 3.8" boottails (BPS speed shad to be exact) have never unbalanced my spinnerbaits and the fish that do bite choke it, no short strikes so far. If double skirting works for you, I'd say keep doing it ?

A lot of a votes for the single colorado. Anyone have experience with the Nichols Lures or Revenge Baits spinnerbaits? They're darker colors look good. Also, anyone have their own spinnerbait recommendations?

If I'm trying to catch bluegill eating bass in shallow water, should I go with a single or double Colorado blade spinnerbait? Also, what about an Indiana/colorado combination?

I'm planning on getting a new reel and I was wondering if anyone has experience or better yet, a good comparison of these two reels. I will be using lures from 1/8 to 3/8oz a majority of the time and I hear the Curado K isn't too friendly to light baits.
