  1. I think that jig you could pretty much use any way you like.....casting, pitching, swimming. I don't know the weight of the jig....but as you will find the jig in incredibly versatile. My advice would be to take the jigs out...and nothing else....dedicate a solid day to it. Also make sure your set up reflects the cover you're fishing. For heavy cover a sturdy flipping stick, high speed reel and good line. I personally prefer fluorocarbon....but to each his own. Try different jig sizes, colors, and trailers. Try with and without a rattle. Fish them around areas where you can just picture a bass hiding out ready to strike...don't fear hang ups for losing one...it all comes with the territory. If you feel anything different set the hook....pretty soon something is going to pull back. Good luck!
  2. A lot of great information in this thread. I prefer throwing a jerkbait on a spinning rod, medium action. The last few years I've switched to braided line. I use 15 pound Power Pro which is only a 6 pound diameter. I find with the stained spring water the green line is pretty much invisible. As far as brands go....like most of us I would guess....I have boxes and boxes of different ones. My new favorite is the Spro McStick 110. I have used that almost exclusively as of late and have had great success. The hooks are incredibly sharp but I do sometimes put a red hook on front and see if that makes a difference. I do like the Rick Clunn version from Luck-E-Strike which is just like a Megabass but a lot cheaper. The Live Target baitball series jerkbaits are really cool and I caught some nice bass on them last spring. I'm looking forward to trying the Fingerling series this season. I also always have a few of my choice Rogues that I leave in the boat at all times. For me water temp is the key....under 40 I don't catch much....once water temps start creeping into the 40's is when the suspending jerkbait shines for me.
  3. Go through the CT fish and game website.
  4. I do enjoy the show......what I like best about the show is where they do them. Chautauqua Lake in NY....the Belgrade lakes in Maine....places on the Northeast I'd love to fish. Just another way for Boyd Duckett to make more $$$$$$......like he needs it......I was thinking of getting some guys together and having a MLF tournament during the closed season in NJ.....only costs $5 a guy to use their technology.....I think it would be cool....
  5. Love Candlewood Lake......been there a lot the last few years with my bass club. That lake has more bass I think than anywhere I fish.
  6. Hi everybody......Mark.....sussex county NJ......live in Highland Lakes.....fish the reservoirs a lot.....and spend most of my time in CT and NY bassin.
  7. Thanks guys I appreciate the help. I know it's been pretty dry down that way and many of the lakes are in bad shape. I think it was Falls Lake I saw on the Weather Channel and it was really low. Thanks again for the input. My Mom is going to be in the Cary area in a few weeks and is going to pick me up some local real estate books. Which lakes offer the best bass fishing in the area? Any recommendations or personal favorites? Thanks again...Mark
  8. Lots of great NY lakes...many already mentioned....Lake Champlain, Lake George, Oneida Lake, Black Lake, Saranac Chain of Lakes, Tupper Lake, Saratoga Lake, Great Sacandaga Lake, 1000 Islands (St. Lawrence River), and many, many more....
  9. 8-) Hello everybody...I am interested in finding a place to stay this Spring/Summer in North Carolina. I am looking to stay somewhere near Falls Lake, Harris Lake, B. Everett Jordan, etc. so I can bring the boat and do some bass fishing. My wife and I are interested in a 2nd home in NC and I am looking at the Cary area as a possible place of interest. Any help.....advice would be appreciated...thanks ahead..Mark
