  1. I would reline it just to be safe. Get some monofilament or fluorocarbon in the size/test your conditions need, and spool it up with some fresh line.
  2. You can, but I don’t know if many would recommend it, but it will work
  3. Greats Points Thanks
  4. Try to match the general size of the bait they are eating. Also, if they are schooling on a school of baitfish, make your bait stand out from the others. Make it loud, flashy, etc. If your bait is super natural, then it is just one of the hundreds of baitfish. If it stands out they will notice it and target it. Hope this helps Tight Lines
  5. That’s a problem I have when fishing small rivers near me for smallies. It is hard to put any action on it because it moves like two feet because of the current when I take it off the bottom
  6. Sorry to hear about your friend. I would go with any Shimano or daisy or abu Garcia reel in your price point.
  7. Should I include all the types of trees and bushes I’ve caught?
  8. I have recently flown with my 4 piece fly rod in the case it came with. I was able to take it as a carry on
  9. Great to hear! Keep it up!
  10. I think this is correct. Cover also plays a part. Bass who spend a lot of time in weeds develop that dark green color. If they spend most or all of their time in open water not inside the weeds then they will lose that green color over time. I have been to a pond who had bass like this. There was almost no cover and it was very stained water. Hope this helps Joe
  11. Some rods may feel stiffer than a medium light but that may be due to the fact that they have very fast action. Some (i think st Croix has this) have a stout backbone and bend a lot at the tip. If you check, the tips on those rods should be pretty bendy
  12. Here’s what I think. I don’t know everything or as much as the others who will post their thoughts here but here goes: 7’-7’6” Heavy casting-heavy t rigs, frogs, jigs 7’ MH casting-pretty much your all around workhorse 6’6”-7’ M casting-treble hooks and small things that you would want to put on a baitcaster 6’6”-7’ M spinning-shakey heads, senkos, tubes, etc. 6’6”-7’ Medium Light Spinning-drip shot, wacky worms, Ned rigs, etc. Again, this isn’t perfect but it should give you some idea. The lengths don’t need to be exact just do what feels good for you. Cheers Joe

I agree with the above posts. Seniors for me are great unweighted because of their shimmy and slow fall. Craws are best weighted for me because I like to drag them of just pick them up and let them fall right back down. Hope this helps Joe
  14. Thank you everyone for the tips. I think I will go ahead and get one because lots of techniques I use would be very well suited for a medium light rod. Joe
  15. I would mostly use it for wacky worms, drop shots, and ned rigs in the small rivers by me. I’m thinking I am doing just fine using wacky worms and Ned rigs with my medium, drop shot seems to be the only technique that wouldn’t really work on it.
  16. Do I need one? I fish mostly lakes and ponds as well as a lot of rivers for smallmouth. I have a medium spinning rod that I think should be able to do most of the stuff a medium light would do. Should I spend money otherwise put into lures and baits towards a new md Lt. Spinning combo?
  17. Wow great info here! Thank you everyone for your help and support
  18. Hello I’ve heard some great things about swing head jigs, and I want to maybe try this technique out. I heard that you fish one like a crank bait, but this doesn’t seem right to me. My mind says they should be fished like a shakey head or something slow on the bottom. Also, does anyone have a favorite creature bait to put on the end? I’m thinking about a sk rage bug. And what size jig head? Thanks in advance for the help
  19. I think Bass Pro Shops does something like that
  20. Bass Mafia makes great boxes and they have one for jerkbaits that seems really great. They are kinda expensive tho, but it will hold a lot of jerkbaits, especially if you put 2 in each compartment. I hope the link works. https://www.tacklewarehouse.com/catpage-BMAFS.html?from=basres Hope this helps Joe
