Connecticut fishing 1 decent lmb caught, missed a bunch
Nice fish right there! And missing the hawgs is just part of the game you need to learn to cope with and learn from. One of the best ways to improve your fishing skills is to learn by your mistakes, although they may be painful and heartbreaking at times.

Not as good as we thought, lol
oh alright, thanks for the info. I'm gonna try and pick one up, the card I have now only holds like 4 minutes of film on the lowest quality ;D

Hey LBH, I really enjoy your vids, they're awesome I was just wondering about how much do those 2GB cards for your camera cost you? thanks

I'm Still Shaking...
You most likely did NOT snag a carp because carp have been known to pick up/eat rattletraps ;D. I'd say you most like had a carp, especially if the ones in there grow up to 40lbs. A 10lb bass would put up a fight but I doubt it would take 6minutes and strain your arm muscles to full potential. Watch some videos on youtube of guys catching hawgs in Cali on swimbaits, most bass fights don't take any longer than a minute or two.

What are they doing?
I've noticed this recently to and it does seem to happen more on overcast days. Perhaps they become desperate for heat and because the sun isn't out they feel the need to get as close to the surface as possible, just an idea. :

my resume draft pleeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaseeeeeeeeeee help many mistakes
This all seems to be constructive criticism, not dream smashing. He should take the advice and either put it to use or don't, but advice is being given to him. Education should be a higher priority for a kid your age especially if you'll be looking for sponsors while in your final years of High school. Companies will look at GPA's and if yours is too low they wont even consider you. This early in life, your GPA is really the only thing that says a lot about your character, personality, and work ethic. I know of a few companies that have MINIMUM GPA's that need to be met in order to be CONSIDERED for the Jr Staff. If I was in your position and had a local club, I'd just focus on getting as many wins as possible for the time being. Fishing for the most part shouldn't be too expensive for a kid your age as you don't have to pay for gas, a boat, etc. and they were right when they said that most adults wont look to a 12 year old for advice...unless you have a beard ;D

Resume Draft
Hey, I'd appreciate it if some knowledged members could give me a couple pointers. Of course I know that perhaps winning a few tournaments would help, but this is all I have for now. Thank you. Also, if any companies are interested, feel free to contact me. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Hello, My name is Mark Kozazcki II and I hope that you will take my application into consideration. My resume has been attatched. Here's a little about myself and my future plans. Bio/Background: I am currently 17 years old (18 on May 31st) and a senior at Ipswich High school (Massachusetts). I have been fishing my entire life, but it wasn't until sophomore year of high school that I really got into it. After watching a few FLW tournaments on TV, I knew that I had found what I wanted to do with the rest of my life. Fishing became my sport and the following year I did not sign up for football so that I could learn as much as possible about bass fishing. The problem that I found was that freshwater fishing is not common in my part of Massachusetts, because I live on the coast where saltwater dominates between the two. The closest club is over two hours away, and being limited on money and transportation made joining it impossible. That being said I have never fished a competitive tournament and that may turn a lot of companies away, but they should first take into consideration the amount of impact I have on the community I am in. I am well-known in this part of Massachusetts for the size of bass that I am able to land and people are always asking me for advice. I have even had people in retail stores recognize me from pictures I had posted online. I frequent between 6-7 forums daily, 2 of them are very well known (Bassresource.com and BillDanceOutdoors). This year, I was asked by one of the teachers to be the Yearbook Business Manager and of course, I said yes and took on the task. Come to find out, I had to travel around the town and try to raise money through advertisements from the local businesses, which taught me how to sell myself/ideas. Last Summer I was hand selected by a majority of the school's teachers to take part in a program put on by Northeastern University called Mentors In Violence Prevention (MVP). In order to find students to partake in this program, the teachers were asked to choose the top 15 students who were most looked up to by other students, and I was one of them. I have never done drugs nor touched alcohol and my reputation is extremely high because of that. Future Plans: I currently have a 3.61 GPA and with report cards coming out next week it's going no where but upwards. I've given school my 100% ever since elementary school, knowing that I can accomplish anything if I put my heart to it. I may be fishing a couple Youth tournaments here in Massachusetts within the next couple of months in order to get a taste of what competitive fishing is like. All of the youth events are over a two hour drive but if I am able to compete then I will surely make the drive. I was accepted into NC State University a couple of weeks ago and will be attending the college next Fall. I am beyond excited to fish on the collegiate level and August couldn't come soon enough. I am currently signed up to major in Fisheries, but I may be changing that to Marketing as that would probably help me more. After college, depending on if I have enough support, I will either be going straight into professional bass angling or take a few years to raise money and publicity through local tournaments somewhere while working a second job. I know that I have the drive needed to succeed in such a competitive sport and if I am chosen to represent ******* I would be more than honored to spread your name not only with fellow fishermen (both online and offline) but with fellow students as well and represent your company to the highest degree. Update: I have 3 scheduled Youth Tournaments: - May 10th: Wakeby Pond, MA (Qualifier) - June 1st: Singletary Lake, MA (Qualifier) - July 13th: Congamond Pond, MA If you have any questions feel free to contact me (contact info on resume). My resume -- changed to be better -- please comment
I'm no pro at resumes, but a couple obvious things I'd change are things like: -Removing the information that doesn't relate to fishing or marketing, such as aviation, unless you can manage to connect it. -Are you even in High school yet? I don't think Middle school has a GPA system... -If you're trying to get sponsored by lure companies, I wouldn't give praise to a lure that the company the resume is being sent to doesn't manufacture. I have a younger brother the same age as you and it seems like you type like you talk, which isn't professional but it is how 14 year olds speak. I'm not sure if this is a turn off to companies or not, but just be aware that your resume does not sound very business-like. Good luck

Websites?
It's hard to find them online unless you're looking for a well-known and rather large lake, such as Erie which was mentioned in the post above. Best thing you can do is buy a thermometer or use electronics to find it yourself, hard to find current info on water temps online.

first day out 2008
Nice job! Great to see some early Spring bass from the North Any idea on how deep you found them? Water temp? and what kind of CB you were using? I usually don't fish this early but it's been pretty nice out, I took the little boat out today to a trout pond to try for some giant bass that might have become active due to the trout stocking...well I couldn't find any. I was marking fish suspended at 13' in 25' of water consistenly but they wouldn't fall for my jerkbaits. Water temp was 45*

Nice fish gotta love LR's hat ;D

Re: TBFA
Although that picture does make me sick as well, if the body of water is overpopulated and there aren't many big fish then it is probably because of stunted growth and yes, removing the smaller fish can help the health of the overall population. So as bad as that picture looks, it actually could have helped the bass population in that body of water. The fact that they ate them and didn't just toss them on the shore makes it less terrorizing as well ;D

Collegiate bass anglers?
yeah, I thank God I got into a southern college where bassin' is prominent.

Went to the Cape this mourning...
Sounds like a awesome day of fishing, especially in March. Any advice on what type of jerkbait I should try? Are we talking hard plastic jerkbaits (I.E. Countdowns) or soft plastic jerkbaits (I.E. Flukes)? I've been throwing jigs with no luck and water temp around here in the northeastern corner of MA is probably around 40. I've stuck to using a finesse jig mainly because of the success I had with it in early April last year, but as of now it hasn't produced.

Looking to buy a small bass boat
the plastic pontoon boats are A LOT more stable than aluminum jons. I can easily stand up and cast without a problem. Mine came with padded seats so I just rather sit down for the most part ;D

Depth Finder on plastic boat?
thanks everyone Huskertko, I was thinking the same thing with the velcro. At least it would be a bit harder to kick in ;D

Depth Finder on plastic boat?
I don't know if there's already been a description on how to do this on here, if there was then I couldn't find it. I'm trying to attatch a Eagle Cuda depth finder on my 10' Bass Hunter ABS plastic boat. I'm not sure how to attatch the screen mount. From what I understand, the transducer can be attatched to the TM with steel hose clamps, so that shouldn't be a problem. I'm just wondering about drilling into the plastic in order to mount the screen...? I've never used or owned a depth finder before so this is all new to me. Thanks for any help.

Looking to buy a small bass boat
I purchased this one over the Winter and since the ice just left recently, I've only taken it out a couple times but must say that I love the thing. With a 36lb TM it handles perfectly fine and it easy to load/unload with 1 person. It fits in the back of my Ford Ranger and yet it can comfortably fish 2 people http://directboats.com/ulbashun.html

Collegiate bass anglers?
Update: I was accepted into NCSU and will be majoring in Fisheries & Wildlife, minoring in Business, and of course- collegiate angling 8-) Hopefully I'll get myself some publicity and find out what the tournament world is like. How pumped are you Ben? I've got a nice little countdown-until-graduation going over here.

New Hampshire Bassin' 2008
Yeah, I live in New England and 1) Don't eat seafood and 2) Don't snowmobile. I think I was born in the south and the hospital accidentally shipped me up north or something ;D and A.J. thanks a bunch, I may PM you as my summer vacation gets closer, which isn't until June-ish.

New Hampshire Bassin' 2008
Haha I'm the exact opposite. Although I love NH and it's wilderness, it doesn't last long enough for ***atic like myself. I'm trying to head South for college and if I like the year round warmth I'll probably end up living in the warmer climate after college. I live in MA but spend quite of a bit of my Summer's in NH, mostly in the Lakes Region. I have fished in the Swift river and seen some BIG wild brookies. How is the Merrymeeting river though? I've only driven by it and it looks awesome, how's the bass fishing in it though? Are electric motors allowed or canoe/kayak only?thanks. When it's warm out, NH is an amazing place but the ice of New England just kills me in the Winter.
-
state record in nh what do you do?
yeah and pretty much if you're fishing from shore and dont have a bucket or cooler, you're screwed. Although you could always stick it down your pants and drive it to a certified scale but then you could get in trouble for transporting live gamefish (law against that here in MA)... so pretty much it's a huge pain in the butt.
