New PB Today (6lbs 8ozs)

Recommended Posts

I had quite the day today, I hooked a hawg probably 7 to 8 pounds and he spit my crankbait about 25 feet from shore. I figured I lost my chance to get a new PB and I moved down the shoreline a bit and cast out and then it happened I hooked another hawg. I started pulling him in and when I got him to the shore my line snapped. I immediately pulled a Mike Iaconelli and jumped in after him and yanked him out and saved my crankbait. I put him on the scale and was pumped when I saw the weight 6lbs 8ozs. What a great day I just wish I caught the first one to. I am going back to catch him later this week.

wa wa wee wa! NICE CATCH! My friend did the same thing when I got my PB. not quite sure how to land a fish that big other than to jump in after it when you're on shore! Jay has a ways to go to catch up to you  :o

Thanks guys, the only thing that would have made this catch better would be if my son had been there fishing with me.  After all if it was not for him I would have never known about Lake Mercer.  I hadn't been fishing in years and he decided that we were going to start spending quality time together fishing.  So last fathers day he bought me a new rod and reel as a gift and we have been sharing a lot of great times together since then.

Dad,

WTG on nailing that new pb.  Figured you weren't too far off.  I fear for those fish come spawn time, you know that lake in and out now.  Don't know of too many other guys around here who catch fish over 5lbs as consistently at that lake.  Hopefully I can find one of em' next time out or this Sunday on the Potomac.  Like to finally break that 4lb mark.

Good job on going the extra mile in order to save the fish.  And just the other day you were calling Ike and idiot for pulling crap like that on his boat lol.  Now you can see why big fish just make you do the craziest things.  Again, great job.

This time of year, with a belly like that... i'd say it's a her not a him

you made out though, I missed a beautiful fish at braddock the other night with the same sort of scenario when I hooked her with a jig and right as she got up to the bank as I tried to horse her up the steep slope, somehow the jig popped out and she flapped around back into the water as I jumped in getting totally soaked but to no prevail...

I didn't get a chance to weigh it to the decimal like you but I'd guess it was right around 5 lbs.

But now I know where she lives  :D

and i'm not telling :-X

Over the last couple of outings the "ladies" have become active. I can't wait to do some sight fishing in a couple of weeks.
